But there are many competent handymen. What sets him apart from others is that he is has a VERY HIGH STANDARD for EXCELLENCE. This is not someone who come to quickly get the job done and run to the next job. Rather, Xavier has incredible pride in his work and cares that it is done well, making him very precise in his workmanship. (for example, there are some pipes on the side of my house that he installed that are perfectly aligned and it makes me feel secure when I see these pipes knowing that job will last for years to come). In addition, he is very creative in the way that he thinks about the job. He is not a run of the mill handyman. Rather, he thinks out of the box and has been able to offer me ways of seeing things that I never would have thought of. What this means is that there have been times when I asked him to do a task and he came back with several other (better) ideas for what I was trying to do. In other words, he makes each project his own--not just merely following my (limited) perspective and checking it off the list, but instead Xavier thinks about the task on hand making sure he is always offering an excellent product. And, if this weren't enough, he is such a good person. You can really trust him. He is honest guy with very high standards not just with his workmanship but also as being a decent human being. Our house is over 100 years old so we ran into a few snafus, like an uneven floor, bracketing issues attaching the dishwasher to the counter, and hose fittings but he handled it all smoothly, checking with me before making any decisions we might not have been comfortable with (e.g., screws in our counter interfered with bracketing the dishwasher exactly in the center of the space we had wanted so we had to shift a little to the left). He also reused some materials I had left over from a DIY project I had done to level the washer, saving us some money on additional materials. We also ran the dishwasher before he left and identified one of the hoses was a little too loose, causing a slight drip, so he made sure everything was tight and secure before wrapping the job. The dishwasher has been running great! The price was really reasonable and Jose was very kind and accommodating. I would definitely feel very comfortable calling him again for future jobs!
