We've always used this Donatos and have had pretty good luck.....until tonight. The order took close to 20 minutes past the time we were given when ordering online (this was for carry out as we were hoping to curb the wait time), the pizza was burned, the salad was completely wrong from what we ordered (the salad was actually made when we showed up - the guy handling the window told us that's all he needed to do to finish up the order) and the wings and pizza were COLD! To top it off, for the wings we were given PACKETS of ranch. Wings should come with cups of ranch, not packets... Grossly disappointed in the performance of the Donatos staff this evening. read more

My wife is from Columbus, OH. So I stopped on my way through Ohio, on my way home and picked up a couple of Big Don Italian Subs for her, and one for me. I have to say mine was good, better than most of the other chain subshops or pizza places. And hers held up well in a cooler for the drive home. Plus my wife was ecstatic when I brought them home, can't say I have the love for them that she does, but worth the stop if for nothing else than her reaction when I bring them home. [3.25 stars] Donato's Pizza, a regional chain headquartered in Columbus, catered a working lunch during my business trip to Columbus. Curiosity reigned regarding pizza in Central Ohio, as it was during the time I lived in Columbus that I discovered Domino's-- nobody's idea of great pizza, but acceptable, given the local options. Although cut into "granny-style" rectangular pieces, rather than wedge-shaped slices, and without an outer crust, several of the varieties ordered for our large group looked inviting. They were sparse on "cheese," but generous with toppings, on a thin-crust pie. Less inviting was the "hot chicken" pizza, a local favorite covered in crispy chicken pieces, sliced dill pickles, jalapeno peppers, jack cheese and a drizzle of ranch dressing. I suppose that there is no accounting for local tastes. A variety of less alien pizza toppings were also delivered, together with bowls of a very good "Italian Chef" (a/k/a antipasto) salad. Understandably soggy from being placed in a box while still hot, the crust was of a New York-style (crisp) variety and well-proportioned to the sauce and toppings. Apparently, one of Donato's distinguishing features is the practice of baking a uniformly flat pie, covered edge-to-edge in sauce. This would also explain the "granny squares," as eating slices of these pizzas would have been difficult. As noted, the quantities of toppings were plentiful, albeit not of a premium quality. I suspect that the mozzarella was an extended commercial "cheese product," rather than actual cheese. Further, the sauce had the flavor and consistency of a canned product. In summary, those who "eat with their eyes" would have a much higher opinion of Donato's Pizza than those accustomed to fewer cost-cutting shortcuts. The receipt packed with these eight pizzas disclosed their prices for 14" pies to be $14 to $17 each; hardly a bargain. While a Donato's pizza wouldn't stack-up against an average New York Area pizza, for Midwest pizza, it was actually decent. read more

Solid quality and fresh toppings paired with really good service. Not a lot to say other than very solid option for pizza at 11pm during the week. read more

3 strikes on 3 separate occasions and we are NEVER ORDERING FROM HERE AGAIN. Strike 1: ordered a salad with our pizza, and they messed it up. Oh well, pick out the onions and move on... Strike 2: pizza was delivered completely uncut. Again, we have a pizza cutter, whatever. Called and let them know. Strike 3: called because our order was 20 mins late. Regina (Manager) explained they we're short on drivers, but he should be there any minute and they would take $5 off. Another 20 mins later and she calls me and tells me the driver BANGED on my door so loud the neighbors came outside. We have 3 dogs (one of them a Beagle) who bark if a squirrel farts outside. Didn't offer any solutions, just blamed us for not being here when the driver showed up. My husband and I were both here, waiting after being told it would be RIGHT THERE. It was OK, but this could be the smallest sub sandwich I have ever had. 5-6" at best and not much meat. It was $7.51, priced like a medium sized sandwich. The night Manager at the Alum Creek location is a real jerk. Donatos is one of the more expensive places to order around here so when the order is wrong the least he could do is listen and not be rude. Middle of pandemic and the drive thru woman was outside smoking and immediately came back in and started waiting on us through the window! Mask down, reeks of smoke but not cigarettes Spits when she talks and then didn't even have a clue she didn't even give us all our stuff and we had to tell her we were missing things and she's like what's in your lap, only 3 of our 5 items! Not one person out of the 3 people we saw working had masks covering their faces! Pizza That she didn't know we ordered was not even cut! Since I live nearby, I really wanted to write a glowing review of this restaurant, but I cannot. The pizza from here is always great, however the service is lacking on many levels. Most of this review focuses on my recent visit. Speed: They seemed to have a bit of trouble getting the pizza ready. My time inside from walking in, ordering, and walking out was 30 minutes. This was with an empty dining room, one car in the drive-thru, and a full compliment of kitchen help. Oh, and I forgot to mention that I told them that I was in a bit of a hurry when I walked in. Training: The cashier was trying to be helpful, but lacked most of the expertise to do much at all with the register. After asking another how to plug in my order, I was then overcharged by two dollars. Lacking the expertise to correct it, she once again had to ask another for help. I could see setting a new employee at this position on a weekday, but on a Saturday night? Compensation for Poor Service: I have been coming to this place off and on for years now, and they never seem to offer any help in this area. i was once sent around the drive-thru three times after paying for an order that I had originally showed up for on time. Twenty minutes of drive -thru waiting and was anything offered me for my trouble? No. Was a discount coupon, or free garlic bread offered at my recent trip. No. Finally, I would like to add that the pièce de résistance of pizza-chain rudeness is practiced here. When you approach the drive-thru window, or counter, you are immediately asked for money up-front after giving your name. Innocent as this sounds, it is their attempt at getting your money in advance, so that you are less inclined to leave or attempt to discount the price after their poor service/food quality.
