I've been going to Donald's for several years now and I can't speak highly enough about their food. It's genuinely so good. The donuts are better than anywhere locally and the kolaches are killer. But over the last few months the customer service has become increasingly bad. While they're always friendly I can't remember the last time my order was correct. They keep throwing in free donuts but donuts are a cheat meal for me and so all I want is exactly what I order. My kids are also picky eaters and when their order is incorrect I'm left just throwing the food away. Unfortunately after receiving my sixth incorrect order in a row today as well as not receiving all of my change (I was told they were out of quarters after I had paid) I won't be returning. I could maybe forgive it if I had placed something massive but all I ordered was donut holes and a raspberry filled. The woman at the window had me repeat this three times, and I still ended up with a cream filled donut. I've had this happen with multiple employees so it isn't an issue with just one person. I'm honestly pretty bummed as I've been a Donald's loyalist for almost a decade, but enough is enough. I hope management finds a way to turn it around before they lose more customers. read more

I was in the area for a hair appointment and utilized the drivethru. I ordered a hot coffee and 2 jalapeño kolaches. I'm not a person to check my bag before I leave, especially when I'm on a time crunch. I was given regular kolaches which was a let down. When you're having a craving and paid for what you wanted only to be given the opposite is not all that great. I'd recommend checking your items before leaving. read more

This is hands down the best donut shop in Houston! The glazed donuts are AMAZING. It's the perfect medium between the dough-ie-ness of Shipleys and the airy-ness of Krispy Kreme. I brought a few dozen for my classmates one morning and they were all blown away! Also, you have to try their boudain kolaches...I know of no other shop that sells these. OK, so that whole healthier eating thing? Yeah. Not so much on Sundays. So when I want to not just fall off the wagon but dive off headfirst I choose to dive into kolaches and donuts. And we like to go here. We usually get everything to go as I don't necessarily like to make a piggy spectacle of myself in public, and I don't want to get dressed, so I send hubby. The kolaches come in two sizes, small and large; I like the large (don't judge me!) which are $1.75 but come with the big sausage and a nice ratio of sausage to bread. The small ones are $1.25 I believe. The yeast donuts (I don't care for cake donuts at all, as my poor hubby found out one day much to his dismay) are pretty good. I mean how can you have a bad donut unless it's stale? And these are always fresh and yummy! They look more like cake donuts as they are taller and less flattened out then other yeast donuts but they taste just fine. Especially with frosting and sprinkles! The best thing though? A dozen donut holes for a dollar! I love these little guys! I bought 6 dozen one morning for a group of us that were lining up early for a concert and everyone enjoyed these sugary little gems! They also have other breakfast sandwiches, breakfast tacos and beverages and the service is always good. Plus they have a poster of Dale Jr on the wall....how can you not love this place? read more

Donald's, in my opinion, is head and shoulders above the other local doughnut establishments in the Seabrook area. I note that due to a legal decision, we do not have Krispy Kreme in Houston. Donald's has all the varieties you want, made with a little more personal care (at least it tastes like it), and is competitive on price. Service can be uneven, it's one person behind the counter, so if there is a rush, you might have to wait for a few minutes. Service is always given with a smile of appreciation, and if you don't see what you want in the display, ask, they may have some fresh in the back, but haven't had time to restock due to the customer line. Any time I have a work meeting to bring doughnuts to, I hit up Donald's and don't worry about it. read more

The best donut place in the Clear Lake area (maybe in all of Texas! No joke). The couple that run the place are great. I've been in there when they were swamped and I've been in there when I'm the only one in the place and no matter what, they take great care of each and every customer. Of course, none of that would matter if the donuts were bad, but they are perfect! The other breakfast stuff they have is really good, too. You want a real "croissanwhich"? This is the place to get it. Kolache? They've got you covered! Breakfast taco? You better believe it! Seriously, I can't say enough about this place. I ordered boudin kolaches, an egg and biscuit, and apple fritters. The kolaches were edible, but the biscuit was a HAMBURGER BUN! The apple fritter was stale. And this was at 7 am. I'm an out-of-towner who was looking for some quality Kolaches and donuts. I meant to go to a different Donald's location, but ended up at this one (unfortunately). After ordering, I got out to my car to realize both Kolaches were hard and cold. I went back in and they did heat them up for me, so that was nice, but it was a bit inconvenient for me as I was on my way out of town. The jalapeño Kolaches were tasty, as was the cinnamon sugar twist donut my boyfriend got. The rest was either subpar or just not good at all (looking at you, brisket Kolache). Also, I didn't actually order a brisket kolache, but to my surprise, that's what I was given (I ordered a ham and cheese kolache so that was a huge bummer - especially when the brisket turned out to be gross, and I don't use that word lightly). This was on a Sunday morning, about 10 AM, and the place was dead, so I can't chalk it up to them being busy and overwhelmed. Bottom line is that there are better options (think Shipley's or Kolache Factory) and I likely won't try it again. Food (2): The menu content of Donald's is not surprising, all of the basics: donuts, kolaches, croissant sandwiches and coolers with assorted drinks. I found the donuts to be unremarkable with the exception of the chocolate icing on the filled bar (the rectangular yeast donut filled with custard and covered with chocolate icing). This icing had a very peculiar flavor. I thought I had a strange taste in my mouth so I had my fiancee verify the strange taste. The best way to describe it would be that it tasted like there was some sort of cleaning agent in the icing. I thought that it was just that batch so I tried the same thing on my second trip and found an identical flavor. Perhaps it was supposed to be that way, but was not to my liking. The Kolaches were of the type with fluffy breading and a single hotdog-like sausage embedded. The overall effect was like I was eating a hotdog in a bun without ketchup or mustard for breakfast. The bright point was the croissant sandwiches. I had a sausage-egg-cheese croissant that was tasty. The croissant was fresh and seemed well suited for the breakfast sausage patty (which provided all of the flavor) and single egg. The cheese was bland and really didn't add or detract much from the sandwich. Service (N/A): There really isn't any service here, it is a donut shop, so not expected. Atmosphere (2): Since this is a donut shop, it might be unfair to include atmosphere in the ratings, but this inclusion does not significantly effect the overall rating. There was nothing attractive about the eating area, consisting of about 2 tables, but it seemed generally clean. The building, furniture, and equipment all are dated. One of the coolers in the dining area had a visible 5 gallon bucket under it collecting condensate, overflowing the bucket with each drip. There was no problem parking, but that was because I was the only one there and was able to park right in front of the entrance (probably should have been marked as a fire lane). If they ever had an increase in business, parking might become a bigger issue, but frankly that should be the least of their worries right now. Value (3): The eats are of similar portion and price as you might expect at other shops. read more

My kids and I love coming here for many reasons, it is a mom's and pop's donut shop and the staff is always kind. Being a regular to this place the lady in the drive thru is always ready to serve me and almost has my entire order memorized: Two chocolate milk's, 2 chocolate donuts and a coffee for me. She always waves "Hi" to my kids in the back anxiously waiting for their breakfast as I get my card back. Not everyday do they have their credit card machine working and if they don't I always get a pass and come back the next day with cash to pay for the day's before breakfast and for my honesty they have rewarded me with a delicious dozen donut holes! I don't know about you but despite their donuts being tasty and fresh, it is nice to know that Donald's can trust me to come back and that is how they keep a loyal customer.
