The doughnuts were good I must say but the younger girl seemed a bit lazy she didn't individually pack the doughnuts like I asked just trying to get her work done as fast as possible she just threw all doughnuts into one box I was trying to give my niece and nephew individual packs but not on her watch this makes me not want to go back again. Stopped by for some donuts, very pleasantly surprised by Donald's Donuts. El Dorando has been a hit or miss area for me; however, this place was definitely solid. Roth was very outgoing and friendly, very welcoming, and noticeably cares about the customer's experience. The food was great, donuts were all fantastic, some of the best I've had in the area for sure. The Raspberry Jelly filled donut was perfect! There was not too much jelly like some places, it was spot on, just right. There boudin kolache was excellent as well, recommend both of those if that's your thing. All in all a great spot, would recommend you try it. This will definitely be my go to place for donuts and kolaches from now on. read more

I have been a fan of Donald's Donuts from the minute I came to my first one in Dickinson. So far, the service has always been friendly and nice. This location of the self proclaimed, The Original Donald's Donuts, does not disappoint! If this is the original, it certainly sets the standard for all the other Donald's Donuts! Roth, the owner of this gem, is also a friend of my best friend. He seems to always work behind the counter and is the sweetest! He makes any stranger feel welcome. What I love about Roth's shop is that he is ALWAYS wanting THE best for the shop. You can tell he genuinely cares about quality. It shows in his donuts, his kolaches, breakfast tacos, and breakfast sandwiches. This is not an average donut shop, it is exceptional. The breading of all the kolaches (since I am a kolache fiend) is excellent. If you are a meat eater, you will LOVE the Chapel Hill sausage! It costs extra, but it is thick, peppery, and what men call "REAL MEAT" *with a Texan accent*. If you enjoy Cajun food, you will absolutely love the Boudain kolache. Even if you just want a classic kolache, you will be infatuated with their more than ordinary sausage/cheese/jalapeño kolache as well. read more

Hands down, best glazed doughnuts in Houston! I am flummoxed as how this place doesn't have more reviews. To say I am obsessed with doughnuts may be a bit of an understatement. My Yelp URL is donutking.yelp.com. I purchased an annual bike rental pass here in Brooklyn for the sole reason of biking back and forth between my favorite doughnut shop. I've eaten more doughnuts than I care to admit. So when I say Donald's has the best doughnuts in town, I don't take that proclamation lightly since I know my reputation is on the line! Their glazed doughnuts here are ridiculously good - they have a certain density/substance to them, yet retain their fluffiness and just completely melt in your mouth when you bite into them. If you haven't tried them, you owe yourself a trip here...it's like eyes rolling into the back of your head good! In addition to their sublime glazed doughnuts, their kolaches are amazing. Specifically, my favorite is their spicy boudin kolache - they are HUGE. And the spicy boudin with the soft, slightly sweet breading is a match made in heaven. FYI I believe this is the original Donald's Donuts, and the others you notice around the southeast area of Houston are franchises branched from this location (although I think these franchises are individually owned). So me and my 15 year old just did a donut face off shipley donuts vrs Donald's. Drove into Houston to the i45 location. It was 5am. Same level of freshness same type of donuts. We taste tested Shipley in the parking lot. Did the same for Donald's. So yea Donald's wins hands down. They even smelled better when we drove home with them. Discovered this place with a friend this weekend and it was the best. I had a potato and egg taco and it seemed like they do the potatoes themselves. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The ratings and reviews on Yelp led me here snd they didn't disappoint. I was searching for a breakfast place nearby and this was the first on the list. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and talkative and made my trip feel like I was visiting with someone I knew instead of a complete stranger. All of the awkwardness of being in a new and unfamiliar place was gone. Of course, I had to try the boudain kolache and it was soooo good. It was perfectly seasoned and somehow the bread wasn't gooey on the inside which made it a winner. The donut holes were perfect little pillowy bites of goodness that I almost devoured in one sitting. There were adorable decorated donuts that made me wish I'd made the trip before the kids left for school. No doubt they would have loved the Hello Kitty and Spider-man versions. Ive tried several donut/kolache places in the Clear Lake area and this Donald's Donuts is the best. My kids love coming here early before school to grab a donut and a kolache. They really like how the donuts are displayed, they can see them easily because they are down on their eye level. My son is a fan of the blue iced donut with sprinkles. He says "Blue Donut" and we all know which place he wants to go to. My daughter likes the white icing with pink and purple sprinkles, or "purrrrple" like she says. This last visit I noticed they had Pumpkin Spice Donuts! I am such a "basic" Mexican girl lol I love all things pumpkin and pumpkin spiced. It's a cake donut and its nice a fluffy, just the way a cake donut should be. It has loads of pumpkin flavor. I could eat it every morning, I won't because carbs, but I wish I could. The apple fritters are another item here that we all love. Some places skimp out on the apples in it but these are loaded with apple goodness. I also really like when you get a dozen or more of items, they give you some free donut holes along with it. The boudin kolache is one of my favorites here. I love boudin and Donald's Donuts makes this kolache really well. My sons eyes are always bigger than his belly but he insists on getting the large sausage and cheese kolache. I guess I shouldn't mind because I get his leftovers. Calories and carbs don't count if they're from your kids leftovers, right? Its always the same people working every time we come in also. I have always enjoyed the food here. Over the years the staff has always been friendly, helpful and prompt. As of late they really knocked it out of the park by making "PJ Mask" themed donuts for my son's second birthday. Not only did they do a great job, but they were done right at the time we arranged. The price was reasonable and as always they were tasty! Everyone at the party was impressed and wanted to know where they came from. Of course, we gladly told them. What a load of junk. We ventured here on Monday morning at 8:15AM on the way to work. This was a little out of the way, but we were hoping that the puffy goodness of fresh glazed donuts would be worth the trip. Upon arrival we found that they were closed! What donut shop is closed at 8:15 on a Monday morning? Well this one and apparently they don't give a damn. We gave them another try one day when we were in the neighborhood. The cold, soggy glazed donuts were so disgusting that we threw them away. When I asked about them being closed, they just kinda shrugged it off. I feel strange giving five stars to a donut shop, but this place really deserves it. I've been a patron of Donald's Donuts for almost twenty years. Like most people we usually get donuts take out, but every so often my kids (and now my grandkids) love to go out and eat there on the weekend. The place is small, simple, and clean. It is often busy, and there is not much seating, but there is usually a booth available despite the brisk to-go business. The selection of donuts is about normal, only missing french crullers and maple bars from what I'm used to seeing. Their donuts are much more like the mom-and-pop scratch made donuts common several decades ago, rather than the manufactured mix donuts of the big chains that you commonly find now. Don't get me wrong, I like a Dunkin or a KK every now and then, just like anybody else... But Donald's are the best I've had in quite some time. Then there are their kolaches and breakfast croissants. These are also fantastic. I am especially partial to the bacon, ham, and egg croissant, which is my favorite breakfast sandwich from anywhere, and quite a bargain.. There are several choices for kolaches including the boudain kolaches which are quite unique. For years Donald's prices were obscenely cheap. They've raised their prices recently, but they are still below their competitors and quite a deal in this day and age. About the only thing to worry about with Donald's is that the donut and kolaches selection begins to dwindle as you get closer to their noon closing time. So go early for the best and freshest selection. So if you live in this area and are craving a donut or kolaches, skip the chains and stop in at Donald's. Just try and do it before 10:30 or so. read more
