Dr Allen's politics are obvious, there are some signs on the front yard and a few less obtrusive things in the office itself. Having said that I've never got in any arguments with him or had him say anything offensive. And my politics are somewhere to the left of Lenin. He's always been respectful and friendly. He even gave us a thoughtful gift after one of our cats passed away. Granted I make it a point not to discuss politics with anyone period, just for the sake of my blood pressure and mental health. Your mileage may vary. More importantly he's been good with my cats. His prices are reasonable and he doesn't try to gouge me on unnecessary scans or tests. Never had any issues with him as a professional. No vet is perfect but he doesn't really deserve all the 1 star reviews in my opinion. read more

Dr. Allen is like Dr. Death but to animals. Remember that surgeon that intentionally was hurting his patients. Yup , thats Allen. This doctor is not up to date with today's animal practice. Misdiagnosed kidney failure as "a perfect weight" when I brought in my 2 year old pup, Lyme positive, who had been loosing excessive weight at an alarming rate a d not able to keep any food or water down for about a month. Dr. Allen said "he is not worried about this dog, give him ice cubes for dehydration". When I brought him back to euthanized because of severity and prognosis, he admitted he misdiagnosed and then tried to hide it. If I was you, I would record the entire experience when dealing with this imcompetent doctor. This is exactly why the saying goes, "you want your doctors young". This isn't a vet, it's a political office! Just look at the signs out front and hanging around the waiting room. I don't care who you vote for, but don't bring it to work! I'm choosing a different vet that doesn't push their political agenda. For the actual vet part, the doctor misgendered my cat several times, you'd think they'd care a bit when they may require different services, and my cats' records were inaccurate. Info for one cat was added to a different cats chart, they weren't even in the office at the same time. This vet also refused to put down my very sick cat, recommending I cage him instead. My dog is nearly 13yrs old. Thought he was on his last leg. Within one day he went from normal to not being able to walk, vomiting, diarrhea, not eating or drinking, just lying there helpless. Dr allen saved his life period. I was seriously thinking hes not going to make it having to care for an 85lb dog and force feeding him, cleaning up his mess, but dr allen was hopeful and thats all i needed. Do not take your animals to medvet emergency they will always charge 500 bucks and they are all immature. I heard them making fub of peoples animals names.... who does that? Regardless. We adopted a kitten from Mahoning Valley Cats, a shelter that works with this vet to get cats fixed and chipped. We took our newly adopted kitten to get fixed AND SHE CAME HOME WITH FLEAS!!! No one told us that there was a chance that she could come home with fleas. This isn't the first problem we've had with this vet, generally they are just nasty to work with and love to shove their politics down your throat. I'd go elsewhere. read more

Allen starts political arguments in his office unprovoked, tries using liberal and socialist as an insult and assumes he knows about your pets history when he does not. 1st. He started an argument with me in his office because I was wearing a mask . Stating well Biden has said covid is over. Calling me a liberal and a socialist as an insult. Having your opinion is one thing but I didn't ask this guy why he wasn't wearing a mask I literally mentioned nothing about masks to him till he started going off on rants cause I was wearing one. 2nd. After this he repeatedly stated that the medication my mother's cats previous vet(who used to work at his office) gave her "Gabapentin" was over prescribed and all these young new vets were coming out of college and over prescribing it. Says since it's not working for her for pain (didn't ask us if it was... or how she was reacting to it...) That he would give her a shot she would need every 2 weeks. Which I mean he's a vet so maybe I can trust him on that part but not asking us the people administering it how it was working for her and just assuming that was why we wanted to switch, it was not. We wanted to see if we could switch to something that would be easier for my mother to administer since she cannot give her the oral gabapentin. 3rd. Tried arguing with me about her clipped ear. Interrupting me while I tried to explain she did not get the clipped ear from a catch and release program where she was fixed. She got the ear during winter in 2008 when she got out and came back pregnant with frost bite on her ear. After she gave birth to her kittens my mother finally agreed to fix her... Not like I was there for that apparently this is his cat and not mine or my mothers. All and all we will not be going her again. He is insane and probably needs to retire if he cannot controll himself. read more

Staff was very nice, Doctor was pleasant as well! But very unorganized. I had been with Doc for 2.5 yrs and my first appt was because I found a quarter size bump on my Great Dane at the time after we had just moved to the area. When presented to the doc, he said that it was a Cyst and nothing to worry about. Over one yr it continued to grow and his staff when I called in kept saying "if it remains soft to the touch and it's not bother her she's fine". (She was 8ths old) Well it got hard and by that time it was the size of a tennis ball and got hard as a rock. By the time the staff could coordinate calendars calendars and schedules two weeks went by and when we arrived another doctors (not doctor Allen) said it was cancer and we had to put her down on the spot because of the pain & disability she was in. Just feel had it had been properly diagnosed in the beginning she would be a live. Again nice people very disorganized. Not going back.
