I never leave a bad review, but i feel compelled to let other people know about this. This used to be our go-to Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, we won't be back. My husband found aluminum foil in his food and we brought it to the attention of staff. Our waiter took it to management, who offered to remake the food, but we declined for obvious reasons. They did not offer to comp my husband's food and gave us a bill for the full amount. We paid, but this will be the last time we ever spend money here. Really terrible customer service. read more

My son ordered a rice and chicken and shrimp with pico, it was ok, not the best but not the worst. I got nachos and it was just slop. My nachos were soggy and it was huge. Stale chips.. salsa taste like it comes from a can... The tacos can be only bought in numbers of 3. Which means it's probably microwaved food from a zip lock bag in groups of 3. I wanted 4 tacos .. a carne asada, chicken, Al pastor, chorizo... But settled for 3 Al pastor. And yes it was dry... tasted like it's been sitting on refrigerator for a couple days. We walked over on a recommendation from the Holiday Inn Express night manager and couldn't be more grateful for the comfort food and kind service. They were closing in 45 minutes and brought our food quickly. Please note that they serve generous portions, so you will likely have leftovers. We used to visit this restaurant at least twice per week, but shortly after opening their new facility, things took a dramatic downward turn. The service has diminished, the food quality has fallen, and the general accuracy of orders is horrible. I simply find it difficult to understand why a very basic order cannot be made correctly. If this problem was a one time occurrence, I would probably just mark it up as a rarity. However, the problem happens almost 50% of the time we place the order. It is just so frequent, that I will just find another place that can provide my orders correctly. read more

This was a decent place in the past. The past few times it was bad. Today was the last time. The salsa is watery and bland. The queso tasted off as If they added milk or flour to stretch it. The food was edible bit not great. We had fajitas and the meat and veggies were cut into very small pieces so they were over cooked and very greasy. The final bit of icing on the cake is that they now charge 3% more if not paying with cash. This part would t stop me from going back, but the bad food will. Even though there at least a couple of other Mexican restaurants in Winchester, I was almost feeling sorry for Winchester and their lack of options. I've been to the other Mexican restaurants there, and those were old and lacking. This one is newer and seems cleaner than the others. I know, I know, you never know what the kitchen looks like, but if the dining decor and cleanliness are indications of the kitchen, then I'm happy. My mom won't even step out of the car, if a restaurant looks old or dirty. Obviously, I don't have that issue, but that's irrelevant here anyways. It is in an unassuming location, in the same strip mall as a nail salon and Sears. When I walked in there were several gentlemen at the register area, they all looked at me like I had four heads before saying anything. The hostess stand was a bit over from that area. Next time, I'll avoid that awkward silent stare down and head straight for the hostess stand. That's the end our my slight complaints here. The menu was plentiful, including pictures... I loved that, because we know us Yelpers love us some pictures. The lunch options are even offered on the weekends which I loved. I decided to go with the lunch portion of Pollo Bandido, at $6.49, I thought it was a steal. I dislike rice, so they let me substitute the rice for some fries. Side note... Heinz ketchup would've been nice, but I promised that I wouldn't complain, so I will be grateful that they at least had a generic version of ketchup. Everyone else in my party had chicken fajitas and they raved about them. I must say that they were huge, especially for lunch portions. Our waiter was extremely efficient and nice and joked around in Spanish with my husband. I really need to learn Spanish. He even brought out extra salsa bowls without rolling his eyes, like some places do when I ask. Side note, I like to double dip, so I want my own bowl of salsa... Ordered the Speedy Gonzalez with beans. Came with rice. The seasoned beef that comes in the taco and enchilada was bland and the beans were very runny. Service was OK. Didn't come to check on us during the meal. Dropped of the food and came back when we were done. $1.49 for a side of sour cream is pretty high. read more

It was a bit odd of a place. The front side looked like a family fun down home Mexican joint, but the bar area where we were seated was like a Latin Disco. Odd blue ceiling lights surrounded by very loud drunks. I ordered quesadilla colorado and my partner ordered chimichangas. My quesadilla was very good, but his chimis were extra sweet and he sent them back. The waitress was very nice and understanding. They didn't charge us for the chimis. Well maybe im spoiled living in Sa Antonio for 30 years. This place has a nice enough decor but the food. Omg, worst place on the planet! I ordered the seafoood fajitas and in a word it was terrible. The skillet was sO hot every bit of the seafood was burnt and the scallops were mush. Your best bet in the area is Chuys in lexington! Try their jalapeno cream dip, delicous. read more

I've been going here at least once a week since they opened and before that when some of the staff was at the el Camino real. The staff are the best! We claim this as part of our family. 5 people in a booth, silverware came after our food, one member of our party order was not taken. Also 1 small bowl of salsa was given and one basket of chips for the 5 of us. My first time there because my son wanted us to have a nice night out while we was visiting from out of town. Once our issues were solved seemly by a manager that was unmoved, the food was very good. Service sucks I went when restaurant was completely empty and it still took forever to take orders, bring chips to the table, get the check. Does not have any type of authentic Mexican beverages (Orchata, jarritos, jamaica, tamarindo, etc) staff members were no where to be found when needing something. Why 2 stars? Sadly, it wasn't the absolute worst I've had but it wasn't very good either. It was just "meh." === === === === My friend and I stopped in here for lunch one afternoon. It was slow; there were only two other tables seated at the time. The host seated us rather quickly, but the server didn't greet us until about 5 minutes after we were already sitting. Not a huge deal - like I said, it was slow. We ordered two waters and a chimichanga lunch special for my friend, and I ordered the burrito lunch special. The drinks were brought to us, along with some chips and salsa. Do you know what cold chips that have too much oil on them taste like? Oil. They were gross. Luckily, the lunch plates arrived rather fast, so we didn't have to eat the cold chips. I spoke too soon. The chimichanga was unappreciated and picked through. My burrito was oddly seasoned, but I drenched it with salsa and queso and chomped my way through it. Next time, I'll look elsewhere for a decent Mexican lunch when I'm in Winchester. read more

This place must have employees or friends review to get good ratings. The guacamole actually had brown spots in it and was so bland my son complained. The vegetables in the fish tacos were incredibly old to the point of the carrots being brown! The white rice with the tacos was old enough to be dried out on top. When we asked if the rice or beans were vegetarian they waiter was stunned, and told me the "head chef" wasn't in right now so he couldn't check and didn't know, then suddenly developed a problem speaking english. They seemed to make a number of derogatory remarks loudly in spanish which my son and I know just enough of to catch the drift We had a service dog with us so the word perro really stood out. I don't think knowing if there is chicken stock or lard in your rice and beans is that crazy, but even if you think it is you probably pretend to be polite anyway. read more

I'm from out of state and was in Winchester on business. This place was recommended to me by some locals and it probably could have been better but it was probably some of the worst food I had. Granted, it could have been because of what I ordered but when you pair that was bad service, you've lost my interest. I ordered a grilled shrimp salad, which the menu described as a plate of mixed field greens topped with grilled shrimp. What I got was a plate of shredded lettuce, three tomato wedges, huge rings of onions, some rubbery grilled shrimp on top and ranch on the side. Did I mention that this salad came out, literally, 4 minutes after I ordered it. I know shrimp doesn't take long to cook, but really? And you're going to charge $8 for this? Horrible. Also, apparently all the servers have nothing better to do like refill waters (server 101) so they sat around making jokes. Inappropriate ones I might add. Newsflash: don't assume everyone who walks through that door doesn't understand Spanish. I wouldn't waste your time eating here. There are other places in town that might be better. Or do yourself a favor, drive 20 minutes to Lexington for some real food. read more

Came in for lunch today. The chips and salsa that gets served with every meal were awful. The chips were cold, and old. The salsa was very watery. We ordered a bowl of white cheese, it was also very watery, and I mean so watery you could hardly eat it. Our food arrives, and it was a little better. We had asked for guacamole to be added to our food order, it wasn't. Had to ask twice to receive it. Also asked 3 times for more chips and salsa, in hopes of getting better than what we were served the first time...never received it! We were not even asked if we wanted any refills for our drinks. This use to be a pretty decent restaurant. Have noticed a decline in the food and service the last few times we have went. This time was the last time for us for a while until we hear or see some good reviews. read more

I called in to place a Carry out order and no one answered when I called twice. I ended up ordering online and went to pick up my order. When I got home my order was completely wrong and the rice was heavily undercooked. I specifically typed in no beans because of a bad allergy I have and my first bite of my Gordita platter was a bite full of beans. My wife ordered 3 tacos and we typed in lettuce and tomato, we opened up the tacos to see only chicken and the tortillas. She also ordered the shrimp quesadilla which had literally 2 shrimp in it. I just moved to Winchester and was looking for a great Mexican restaurant nearby. It's safe to say my search will continue and I'll never step foot in Don Senors again. read more
