A Culinary Highlight in Mayagüez While visiting family from the mainland U.S., we decided to look for an authentic local dining experience and discovered Don Quijote. It's a simple, unassuming spot, but the food rivals any high-end restaurant. We ordered the grouper, which was exceptionally fresh and flavorful, accompanied by perfectly seasoned vegetables and a high-quality green salad. The wine pours were generous and very reasonably priced. Beyond the food, the service was superb; the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. This is a five-star experience. I was curious about this place when I noticed it was a pizzeria. Unfortunately, the pedazo of cheese pizza I had was not good at all. Nonetheless, I appreciate the attempt that this restaurant tried at pizza. Now the food besides the pizza was excellent. The habichuelas are phenomenal and they even make a mofongo with yuca which was excellent. The broth that comes with the mofongo is excellent and I would come here again to eat everything besides the pizza. Also the pistacho flan was an good and interesting dessert. read more

This place holds a special place in my heart is one my family have gone to for years the ambience is great whoever was the DJ on Sept 10th deserves a raise. The food was great the service was good the person who helped us did seem a bit distant , we asked for boxes to go and instead they just took them we never got our box or food lol, but other than that everything was great. read more

This place was fantastic! Everything was delicious. We were driving around, touring Mayagüez, intending on finishing at Don Quijote. We got done a little early and we weren't quite hungry yet, but we decided to go ahead and grab dinner anyway. O. M. G. Everyone ate everything. The plates were clean! The food was so good. And on top of that, I have some picky kids and the guys there went out of their way to help prepare the food the way they like it. Most of the table for the mofongo, and they loved it. I got the pollo asopao and fell in love. I got some bolitas de queso and they became a table favorite. Lastly, I got a piña colada... so great. Amazing food, fantastic staff. I grew up eating here for special occasions. Today the restaurant looks more "Spaniard" looking: the ambience is great. Lots of workers, lots of takeout orders and lots of fun in the kitchen which meant service was a little slow but food was good. Pizza was not as NYC style as I remembered but it was good nonetheless. We had a late lunch at this restaurant.. The food was excellent!! We had grilled salmon with baked potato, bacalaitos, carne frita, chicharrones de pollo, mofongo and fried cheese.. The food here is sooo good! I got the lasagna which is always delicious:) if you like a lot of cheese then you'll love the lasagna and my bf got the penne pasta with churrasco and it was the bomb the churrasco was so chewy and the dish itself was filled with so much flavor! Food is good. I've had the Mofongo and fried chicken and they are delicious. The pizza is not the best but above average. Had the chicken pizza and the chicken was tasty and not oily. The service was lacking. There were like 4 people behind the counter and only one attending the tables. He was doing something else while giving his back to the clients. My pizza came out and it sat on the counter for almost 2 minutes getting cold. I ended up getting up and getting it because the only one person attending the tables was busy with another table and the people behind the counter wouldn't come and bring it to me. Do better on customer service and I'll rate higher. read more

I really wished we had great food here!! My friends took us here and said they had the best mofongo in town. Maybe it was just our luck, but we got the saltiest mofongo in the world. I mean It was so bad that I was dizzy and wanted to throw up. That was our first time trying mofongo too we were traumatized I don't know if I would ever want to try mofongo again. Thank god we went on a week night when the mofongo was cheaper. I think everyday they have a special for one dish. My friend ordered pizza and it was really good and the service was good that's only reason I gave them 2 stars. We also tried their home made sangria which was nothing special. We came for lunch and ordered pizza and mofongo. The pizza slices were enormous and the carne frita plentiful. The service was great. The food was delivered quickly. Margarita was attentive and super helpful. Prices were reasonable and we will definitely be returning. Thanks Margarita!!! read more
