The texture is deliciously smooth and creamy, with the flavours being suitably both devilishly rich and indulgent (dark chocolate) or slightly more refined and smooth (tiramisu). On my first visit I plumped for having tiramisu flavour gelato in a brioche bun - who can say no to brioche and gelato, with cream (of course)? This combination of the rich and creamy gelato in a soft and sweet bread bun is to die for. This was accompanied by a double espresso, made with the superbly deep and rich tasting coffee from Extract Coffee company. On my second visit I plumped for a two-scoop cone and chose dark chocolate and tiramisu flavours - amazing! The gelato sold here earns the description artisan and is handmade on site everyday by a family that has over 100 years of gelato making experience using both locally and where required, internationally sourced ingredients for the best flavour. It may not be the cheapest in town but you definitely get what you pay for - heaven in a tub/cone/brioche/ on a stick (you get the idea)!

However, my expectations were immediately lowered when I observed the far from endearing exterior of the shop. I thought the situation could have been rectified by the novelty of the product inside, however, this was far from the case due to just 2 from 4 machines having any fro-yo in them. Nonetheless, my disenchantment only increased when I found out that 2 of the 4 remaining fro-yo flavors were melted - how did this place pass a food inspection?! One of the two flavors was coffee, so if you aren't a coffee-lover like me, you were only left with the one - original. Now, onto the toppings. The choices were limited and I was not impressed by the lack of fresh fruit. The interior decor of the shop made it uninviting. It was dark and dingy and the worker was not there to greet us as we walked in. I would have hoped for more hospitality. The worker sat on her phone while we attempted to serve our runny, melted yogurt and did not offer to help or even apologize for the ruined product. They just do rich, tasty ice cream made from locally sourced West Country ingredients. It really is prefect ice cream and they aren't stingy with the potions. I just had a mint choc chip and clotted cream vanilla combo, piled high and then melting all down my hand and t-shirt. Totally worth it though. It's a great little spot to wander to after lunch; you get to be by the river and in the sun, watching the boats go by. The staff serving us were lovely and jolly, would you want your ice cream sold to you any other way!? I ask you.

There is by far too much choice on the menu, and there isn't possibly enough time to take in all of the options written up on the chalkboards behind the counter. Fast-moving and slapdash, the service demands of you an instant choice and order, and it's just not possible to make the most of their "build your own" idea for salads and sandwiches. So, selection hastily made, I retreated to a table, and my panini didn't arrive for a whole 10 minutes. It was impossible not to get agitated and annoyed about this because it's all on show; you can see everything they're doing while you wait for them to reheat your panini, and you wait, and wait, while they persist in not addressing your order, so desperate are they to keep taking orders from people in the queue. By the time they get around to making the sandwiches people have ordered, they've forgotten whose is whose, and have to call the orders out in a shouty, frantic way. My cheese and ham panini was the worst I've ever had. The cheese was absolutely boiling and had a horrible, gloopy texture that was much more like cheese sauce. There was so much of it in the panini I had to actually scrape it off. For £3.95, I expected higher quality ingredients, served with much more care.

It may not make you popular but it tastes delicious. An affordable and reliably good lunch can be had here are a tiring day of shopping in Clifton Village.

It seems that ever since Shakeaway started to do really well as pretty much the only decent milkshake bar loads of other similar types such as Sblended started popping up around the place which are pretty much identical! Sblended is somewhere that offers a large variety of different milkshakes, you basically can choose between any sweet snack you fancy (from skittles to chocolate fudge cake) and they mix this with ice cream and milk to create you a personal shake! I think it's a brilliant idea, and they do taste amazing (I would always recommend the oreo cookie one!), but because I was such a loyal customer to Shakeaway (haha) I always go here instead... The one thing I would say about these places however is that they are overpriced, they charge around £2.50 for a standard sized milkshake which is pretty hefty! They do offer loyalty cards though if you are a fan, and also a student discount of %10 which is worth having. Overall I love my milkshakes and love the variety of these places so I would recommend Sblended to thirsty shoppers especially in the summer months!
