The texture is deliciously smooth and creamy, with the flavours being suitably both devilishly rich and indulgent (dark chocolate) or slightly more refined and smooth (tiramisu). On my first visit I plumped for having tiramisu flavour gelato in a brioche bun - who can say no to brioche and gelato, with cream (of course)? This combination of the rich and creamy gelato in a soft and sweet bread bun is to die for. This was accompanied by a double espresso, made with the superbly deep and rich tasting coffee from Extract Coffee company. On my second visit I plumped for a two-scoop cone and chose dark chocolate and tiramisu flavours - amazing! The gelato sold here earns the description artisan and is handmade on site everyday by a family that has over 100 years of gelato making experience using both locally and where required, internationally sourced ingredients for the best flavour. It may not be the cheapest in town but you definitely get what you pay for - heaven in a tub/cone/brioche/ on a stick (you get the idea)!

They just do rich, tasty ice cream made from locally sourced West Country ingredients. It really is prefect ice cream and they aren't stingy with the potions. I just had a mint choc chip and clotted cream vanilla combo, piled high and then melting all down my hand and t-shirt. Totally worth it though. It's a great little spot to wander to after lunch; you get to be by the river and in the sun, watching the boats go by. In the small seating area, our group sat at the largest seat in the place, a half-circle booth. I had a coffee, yogurt and granola. A sweet, plain yogurt with some crunchy granola is a light, yet filling, shopping snack. The coffee warmed me up for the cold road ahead. Rob had a hot chocolate and a pain au chocolat. Yeah, he's got a bit of a sweet tooth. Servers were polite, professional and helpful. Our orders took a bit too long, considering we were right behind the bakery counter. Of course, it was very busy. I understand the wait, but I was a bit hangry (hungry + angry). Not a good emotion to have. It's definitely the less American choice we could find. How funny, the Americans come to England, expecting English-style food, but the closest we could find in the mall is a French patisserie.

Flavalanche? More like flavafail…read more I was highly anticipating taking my American friends to what I thought would be a high point of their visit to Bristol - a truly wonderful city in the main. However, my expectations were immediately lowered when I observed the far from endearing exterior of the shop. I thought the situation could have been rectified by the novelty of the product inside, however, this was far from the case due to just 2 from 4 machines having any fro-yo in them. Nonetheless, my disenchantment only increased when I found out that 2 of the 4 remaining fro-yo flavors were melted - how did this place pass a food inspection?! One of the two flavors was coffee, so if you aren't a coffee-lover like me, you were only left with the one - original. Now, onto the toppings. The choices were limited and I was not impressed by the lack of fresh fruit. The interior decor of the shop made it uninviting. It was dark and dingy and the worker was not there to greet us as we walked in. I would have hoped for more hospitality. The worker sat on her phone while we attempted to serve our runny, melted yogurt and did not offer to help or even apologize for the ruined product.
