What makes this flagship location so special is that Chuck Williams' original Sonoma residence has been preserved on site, featuring photographs, newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia that beautifully tell the story of the brand's beginnings. There's also a lovely outdoor culinary space to explore. We spent far longer here than expected, doing exactly what one does in a Williams-Sonoma store: discovering things you never knew you needed but suddenly can't live without. I was especially drawn to the bee and honeycomb collection. Although I managed to exercise some restraint in the store, I couldn't stop thinking about the jeweled bee napkin rings and honeycomb pillow covers--and promptly ordered them once we got home. If you love to cook, bake, entertain, or simply surround yourself with beautiful things for your home, this historically significant store is a must-see when visiting Sonoma.

Williams Sonoma in Sonoma, CA…read more This is the exact shop where it all started... the Williams-Sonoma legacy that is. Charles "Chuck" Williams settled in Sonoma in 1947 after serving in WW II. He bought a hardware store but converted it to a cookware shop in 1956 specializing in French cookware. He lived above the shop. Now that exact building is a retail shop with sprinkling of Mr Williams memorabilia. That was neat. So if shopping is not your thing, drop in to take in the history. Regarding the "museum", on the first floor is a beautiful wall display of Mr Williams personal collection of French copper cookware. The second floor has a wall filled with photos memorializing his life and other personal items. And first and foremost, this is a retail shop. Compact but organized. Merchandise gorgeously displayed. The first floor is where the kitchenware, cookware, glassware, kitchen gadgets, small kitchen appliances, food, and gift items are located along with the demo kitchen where they hold cooking classes and product demos. The second floor is a bedroom display with a small seating area with lounge chairs and a desk. If parallel street parking ain't your thing, they have a private parking lot behind the shop. The shop is near Sonoma Plaza, and some folks say it's a walkable distance. I'm not one of them. But you can determine that for yourself.

Just as fun to say, it's fun to browse even if you're not a home chef. They have brand name, quality cookware, bakeware, and kitchen items. Gifts and gadgets. Basic items (inexpensive) to "what do I do with this" specialized items (pricier). All at reasonable, competitive pricing for the brands. Locally owned since 1972. Awesome! The place is not particularly large, but they have a knack for utilizing space without feeling cluttered. I stopped in recently because I happen to be in the area and heard they carry Smithy, American made cast iron cookware. In particular I was looking for the carbon steel line of Smithy which is supposedly lighter in weight than their cast iron line. The young sales associate helped me locate the Smithy display. He was aware of the brand and knew where it was exactly in the shop. Lovely, gorgeous pieces. Pricing was on par. After doing my weightlifting kitchen curl test with a 10 inch skillet, I concluded that it is less weighty but I'm too weak to handle even that carbon steel weight. However I am uncommonly lacking the normal upper body strength. So you most likely will not have the same issue as I.

While we were in Sonoma we finally got a chance to visit Sign of the Bear Kitchenware…read more Although the shop felt incredibly busy and slightly cluttered, they carried quite a few Le Creuset pieces (especially in sea salt which I don't see often) and their prices for similar items were lower than the nearby California store. All in all, while it's a bit difficult to shop, we enjoyed seeing their selection and would definitely return.

You want someone who doesn't bullshit you. You want someone who is kind of like a Sherpa guiding you. Here is my personal experience: We had an outdated kitchen that was not up to code. I used to love to cook but I'd come into the kitchen and quickly wanted to step away. So I initially went to Home Depot thinking ok great they have everything in one place! Because I'm not a DIY nor have any knowledge in this I felt half way through that I needed a bit more direction. I work 12 hr days and wanted someone who understood what I wanted. But what's interesting about a remodel is sometimes it's beyond your imagination! Green Bay had a 3D model which they tied into appliances and helped to see how the kitchen would look! Noy also had tips and tricks and advice along the way. But here's the thing - it isn't always butterflies! In any relationship there is misunderstanding, impatience and a difference in communication. Noy knows his shit. You just have to trust that. July 6 was demolition. sept 11 we moved all our stuff back. Now I just walk into the kitchen and just stand and breathe and thank Green Bay and Noy for being my Sherpa to the Mount Everest I call kitchen remodeling. I'm looking forward to using them for projects down the road!

The bathroom was completely transformed. What started as a very dated space is now modern, clean, and beautifully finished. The attention to detail in the tile work, fixtures, lighting, and overall layout really shows the quality of their craftsmanship. It honestly feels like a spa compared to what we had before. They also repaired and rebuilt sections of our deck where there was structural rot. The work was done carefully and correctly, and the finished deck looks fantastic. A special thank you to our project manager, Ari, who was excellent throughout the process. Renovations inevitably come with a few surprises, but Ari handled everything professionally and made sure issues were addressed quickly and properly. His communication and follow-through made the whole project run smoothly. Overall, we had a great experience with Green Bay Remodeling and would definitely recommend them to anyone considering a remodel.

Prep involved spreading workplace blankets in and around the tub. Demolition was slow and purposful so there was no damage to the surrounding wall. The actual installation process was meticulous so that the new glass was plumb and the sliders would work smoothly. And, cleanup was through. This is a highly recommended company. Easiest experience I've ever had with a remodel. And I was a nervous Nelly like no other. I've never done anything in the 20+ years I've lived here so I was scared to death of being ripped off and taken advantage of. I needn't have worried. Shams was meticulous with his proposal, outlining and detailing every step of the procedure. He was patient and explained everything in terms I understood. Next came to work: They covered my carpet taking care to make sure that they picked up after themselves at the end of each day. The noise and disruption was minimal. Every step was explained and they didn't mind my occasionally observing and asking questions. Em, my cat, thinks they were purr-fect! Impressive how well SCHICKER worked with Pleasanton's permit inspector in all three phases, to complete this project on time. SCHICKER's lifetime warranty assures me that if I have any issue in the future, all I have to do is call them. And I will!! I highly recommend this company if you're interested in integrity, reliability and professionalism.
