First of all, surprised that whereas there are currently around a hundred reviews in German, this…read moreis the first in English - probably a bit off the beaten track for visitors? Anyway, there are many reasons to make the trek along the Spree through Treptower Park, not least the pleasant location on the river which is means it's attractive to sit outside on a sunny spring or summer day; or for that matter in the depths of winter when it's really cosy down in the hold or in the "Seepavillon" directly by the water with a cosy open fire.
We have visited Klipper in all seasons, and the food is consistently good, with an emphasis on fish and traditional German fare - decently sized portions at a reasonable price. We ordered asparagus as it was in season, but on this visit they actually forgot our order. We were sitting there 25 minutes wondering what had happened when the waitress noticed, apologised profusely, offered us drinks on the house and made sure that our food then arrived as quickly as possible - with an extra portion of fish for good measure. So let's agree that this was unusually friendly and excellent service (which is not always the case in Berlin!)
Overall: Klipper comes strongly recommended - we'll be back.
