Dear reader, Domus in Leuven was the perfect introduction to authentic Flemish cuisine. We were visiting friends who wisely brought us here, and the Belgian Dinner plate offered a proper taste of Belgium with several traditional dishes served together. The Flemish beef stew was my favourite, rich, tender, and deeply comforting, though everything on the plate was delicious. The restaurant itself is full of charm, character, and history, fitting beautifully into the atmosphere of Leuven. Everyone we encountered was incredibly kind and welcoming. We were staying in Leuven during our recent trip. This spot was recommended by a few sources so checked it out. Service was good. The ambiance was what you may expect for a Belgium brewery. We ordered the sampler of their beers plus an additional of a seasonal pour, all tasted great. We ordered the Belgium food sampler which was tasty. Op 26 april organiseerden wij een daguitstap voor personen met een niet-aangeboren hersenletsel naar Leuven. Een groep van 27 personen, waarvan minstens 10 personen met een rolstoel. We kozen voor een pastabuffet bij de brouwerij Domus. Het restaurant is goed toegankelijk voor rolstoelen en personen met een beperking. Er werd voor ons een aparte ruimte in het restaurant voorzien, zodat we minder rekening moesten houden met andere gasten die door moeten kunnen. Dichtbij was er ook een volledig aangepast toilet, waarbij de deur automatisch opengaat bij het drukken van de knop, er voldoende ruimte is voor verzorgmomenten voor personen met een rolstoel,... Ook het eten was zeer lekker. Er was ruim voldoende, veel variatie en super lekker! De formule voor groepen die zij hanteren is zeker een aanrader. Er is genoeg variaties en voor de organisatie zeer gemakkelijk. Daarnaast verliep de communicatie via mail zeer vlot. Er werd vlot en vriendelijk gereageerd. Op voorhand werden aanpassingen in het menu (intoleranties zoals gluten, lactose, soja, vegetarisch) nagevraagd en rekening mee gehouden. Good location. They do have a good beer selection, and a nice ambiance. The food was just OK. I ordered the Pesto Basil Shrimp linguine, and the sauce was- red? I could have sworn Pesto is supposed to be green. But, the meal was serviceable. Service was a little surly, but efficient. Prices were reasonable. Wellllllllllll I'm going to give it an extra star for the folksy ambience shtick they have down. And I think normal food is probably worth three stars. My husband had pork tenderloin, and said it was barely worth talking about. He was pretty enthusiastic about the beer, however. For my gluten-free and or vegetarian or vegan tribe, this a two on the outside. I chose it because of its existence on the gf network. It looked like, from the website, that there were going to be good choices. There were a few choices. None of them would have gotten me through the door had I known. This is a place you should only come if dragged by a group of people who are dying to go there. The server was not super patient with my questions about salads. No, she said, only from this part of the menu. So I ordered quinoa with chicken and vegetables (why would I go here for something like THAT?) and a gluten free beer. She had to go ask about gluten free beer. Anyhow she somehow dug up a brunehaut amber that tasted like liking a copper kettle. Yum. My husband ordered a salad, ensuring there was no bread on it. There wasn't. It was good. I got vegetables. Which was great, because my dish was a little sad. It was a very generous bowl of quinoa (which is good because it was expensive!), with a few sad vegetables, and chicken breast that was cut into tough and rubbery strips. It was very oily. I'm not anti oil, but this was a LOT. The service was so-so. If you are veg or gluten-free, do not bother. There are other choices in town. If you have to go for an event, get a salad. read more

We were trying to do a little brewery tour while in Leuven, but couldn't figure out who to ask/where to enter, so we just sat down to taste and snack in the restaurant. The beer was fantastic! So much better than I expected, to be honest. I usually stay away from dark beers, but their darkest was my favorite, with a truly unique taste and a fresh bite. All were good, but the least favorite was probably the amber. The blonde would be great with lemon, but our service was kind of gruff. To eat, we had chips and the vegetable lasagna. The lasagna was also surprisingly good, savory without being too salty, and satisfied two of us. If only my sister wasn't vegetarian, because it sounded like they had some interesting seasonal choices with boar and other off-beat meats. read more

I spent a semester in Leuven studying abroad, and so many of my local Belgian friends recommended this place for great Belgian food. When I went though, I got the burger (probably dumb to order a burger at a Belgian place) and it was mediocre. read more

Personally, I think before entering this place you should set your expectations right. If you expect excellent cuisine: please turn around. What you get here is pub food, and not of the highest quality. If you want a fun place, with an inn or Brauhaus vibe being more important than the food: go right ahead, you found the right spot. The meals are a bit overpriced and are not outstanding, though definitely edible, but the friendly staff, the relaxed atmosphere and the impressive selection of beers (including the homebrews) make for a great experience. read more

For me Domus is a little bit hit-or-miss. I generally order the hammetje (pork knuckle) and it is USUALLY pretty good but not always. The service is also inconsistent - can be pretty crappy or pretty good, just depends when you go. The beers are definitely worth a try. I like to come here in the summer and sit outside. read more

Amazingly good beer is why they get 4 stars. Otherwise, service was slow and food was not bad. Great desserts that the kids loved. Which occupied them while I had another of their awesome beers. Recommend if you want a good beer and sit and people watch on a lazy afternoon. read more

This might be my favourite restaurant! The food is delicious for a low price. I recommend the spaghetti bolognaise or the lasagne. The menu has so much variety in food and beverages that everyone can find something they love. The decor is really old school which is a nice style choice. The waiters are always kind. The only negative about this restaurant is that it can get really crowdy sometimes, which makes it hard to find a place to sit or get the attention of the waiters to order. Overall I really love this restaurant and would recommend anyone who visits or lives in Leuven to at least once try the food and the beer in Domus. It's a classic must-see to complete the experience of Leuven. read more

Salads are inedible at this place. Mine was mostly made of canned goods - canned herring canned beans canned carrots - with a few lettuce leaves and yesterdays cut tomatoes. Never had such a bad meal at a restaurant. But, the beer is good, and other people at my table seemed to have gotten better luck with their food. read more

I took my friends who visited me abroad there. In this restaurant one can have traditional Flemish food and beer. The quality price ratio is quite good. Just the service is not very fast and also Flemish dishes are not very fancy. Generally pretty good. read more
