We headed down here for some pizza. I am super glad we did! So this type of pizza is North East Pennsylvania style. Its like a cookie sheet pizza, fried in peanut oil on the bottom. It gives it a nice crisp crust, but the dough is lighter than say a "Detroit" style. Not as crispy, and more chewy. They cut it into rectangles and call them "cuts" instead of "slices" and they are served in a "tray". Half tray is 7 cuts, full tray is 14 cuts. We went with a full tray of cheese, half with no onion, and a half tray of "The Kitchen Sink". They have Coke products to drink. My Brother also got an order of 3 pierogies. How was everything? Kitchen Sink Pizza- Man, this thing surprised the hell out of me. I was NOT expecting this pizza to be so delicious. I wasn't even that hungry and I still put down about 6 cuts between the 2 pizzas. The Kitchen Sink has 2 different kinds of sauce (I think like a bbq and a tomato/marinara) a couple blends of cheese, some onions, and some shredded chicken. It was like a cross between a BBQ chicken pizza and a tomato pie. It was different, and it was GOOD! Cheese Pizza- So their normal cheese pizza comes with cheese, and onions on top of red sauce. We got half the tray with onions and half without. Some of us were farting that night, some of us weren't. (Onion joke if you didn't get it). It was so simple, yet so delicious. The bottom was cooked perfectly for a little crisp, some chew, good cheese pull, great sauce. Pierogies- They were huge! 3 to an order. Boiled and swimming in butter. I prefer my pierogies pan fried and a little crispy...these were not....but, they were still tasty! Pillowy soft with the potato and cheese filling. They were good! The waitress that was working there was a younger gal who was nice and friendly. Next time in PA, I will definitely be back. This was a hidden gem that turned out to be so much better than I had hoped. Truly, Pizza Heaven!

Calling Angelo's is a journey, they are operating off of a single land line so you usually have to call 2, 3, or seriously on busy nights or a Friday during lent 20+ times. From there you tell them the size, crust type (regular or thick), sauce type (regular or sweet) and then any toppings. Be prepared to wait at least 30 mins, but in many cases over an hour. While this sounds like an awful experience, it's certainly worth it. This pizza incredible. Last time I stopped by it was cash only, but there's an ATM. When you go in, there's a counter up front and a cooler stocked with drinks. The space has a few tables, but most people are doing takeout. Angelo's, while it's not easy, I love you!

Uh yeah I was actually. By the time I go back to the hotel 14 minutes away, the pizza had gotten cold and required reheating. Fortunately, it was good enough that even with the reheat, revealed itself to be one hell of a pizza. Subtract another fraction of a point for not putting any plastic silverware for my salad. We had the apple and lemon pie, a fruit tart, and a bunch of cupcakes. The cupcakes we got were Tiramisu, Apple Pie, Lemon, Blackberry Lavendar, Carrot Cake, and Strawberry Moscato. Each one was better than the last. Highly recommend. We will definitely make a stop back when in the area.
