Lunch and dinner haven't been as enjoyable for me. For example, the dinner special I tried (meatloaf with mashed potatoes and corn) didn't come out as I had hoped--the meatloaf was a little dry, the potatoes were on the cooler side, and the corn just didn't taste quite right. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, which was served hot and had good flavor, but the texture of the steak made me wonder if it might have been frozen beforehand. The sides--green beans, rolls, etc.--also seemed like they could use a little more seasoning and warmth to really shine. What really keeps me coming back, though, is the atmosphere and the staff. The place has such a warm, welcoming vibe, and the team is always kind and friendly, even if service can sometimes take a bit longer. Fried pickles were good and then we got 2 out of 3 of our salads. 1 salad had bugs in it and we never got our third. 20 mins later we got 2 of our kids meals and were told my sons order for rotisserie chicken wasn't available. Server came out addressed the salad and was going to tell her manager. Server came back and explained it was a gnat and their bug zapper wasn't working well(no manager yet...and very odd answer!). It had been over an hour since we were seated and had only 2 salads and 2 kids meals and we decided we were done. (We also noticed black specks in the salt shaker that was not pepper!) Manager came out looking bothered and said "I want to hear what the issue is"...we explained and she was very defensive and said they would remake the salads and the food was ready to come out. We explained it had been over an hour and the restaurant was pretty empty and we were unhappy. She was still acting bothered and telling us they had already made the food and didn't offer anything to make it right until we brought up the salad and said "well I can refund two salads if you want". After noting it was a birthday on the reservation and having family there who had previously also had a bad experience, it is safe to say we will not be back again.
