Amazing food worthwhile to talk about! Lots of shared plates and the entree was a great way to…read morestart the meal. One of the best in the Hunter Valley region. Sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and nice warm weather. For starters, shared a chicken liver pate. Delicious. Not overly salty and the jam was tasty, followed by the flathead tacos! Very crunch and fresh! For mains had a butterfly corn salsa and corn purée. A huge serving but delicious. Then the sides of potatoes chips and crushed potatoes are ok. But the fried cauliflower with pomegranate and labna was to die for. Finished the meal with a Gaytime crumble! Delicious!

When my partner and I walked into the restaurant, no waiter/waitress was in sight. Finally a waitress walked out from the kitchen with a tray full of food, she served her customers and went back. (are you blind or something? you cant see a 5'2 or 6'1 human being in front of you?) So we walked up to the bar areas, and the bartenders punted us back to the servers... After a few minutes, a waiter finally came by and brought us to a table. This was not it... When my partner asked what that night's tap beer was, she said she was not sure but it would typically be heineken... silence.... My partner then asked "so it's in a bottle" And waitress said "yes" Seriously? It is bad enough that you do not know the menu well but giving stupid answer like that? We gave her the "look" which sent her to the bartender for further clarification. My suggestion is : Keep your expectation to the minimum and you wont be disappointed.

A few members of our tour had purchased the pizza package and were settled downstairs quickly. They were served almost immediately and their pizzas arrived fast and hot and had lots to eat! On the other hand, there were about 12 of us left that had either picked the two course lunch and two glasses of wine, or the three course with three glasses of wine. We sat for about 1/2 hour without anyone approaching our table of 9 on the outside deck. No water, no bread, no introduction, nothing. I had to grab a wait-staff member so they could bring us the wine and she reacted a put off. I don't want to sound as if we were expecting the finesse of a fine dining experience, but we were very unsatisfied with their service. There wasn't an explanation of the wines we sampled, they just asked if we wanted red or white with our meal and we weren't told how we were being fed. An hour into us sitting there with one empty glass of wine food was literally "dropped" on the table. I had requested a vegetarian meal but was given steak. What happens, is they get a the number of mouths to feed from the winery tour company and then make three dishes and place them randomly so you're not given a choice of what you want to eat. We still were in the dark so we thought the second course must be another dish option. not true. Luckily one of the dishes was a vegetarian gnocci otherwise I would have been out of luck. This is where Hope Estate gets my 2 stars, because the gnocci was delicious! Creamy and perfect pasta texture. My table-mates too really enjoyed their lamb or steak which they revealed the meat to be cooked to perfection and the portion sizes were huge. But then came the wait....... We sat their again without any staff approaching our table to refill wine or water glasses or even remove our food plates so decided to clear them ourselves and go find a staff member to help us. Our second course was a dessert option which I passed on because I couldn't eat either, the group from downstairs met us up on the deck and the estate began their 5 minute uber rushed "wine tasting" more like wine guzzling. My suggestion is to skip this large winery and get the love and attention you would at some of the smaller estates.

Don't believe the hype. Obviously a decent concert venue. But don't go here for the wine or beer…read more Staff are incompetent. Hard to get anything decent if they don't understand your needs. One decent thing was the food. Had the pork belly burger, delicious, and the garlic chicken and mushroom (sans chicken) pizza. It was delicious. Portions were generous, and served well for a pub environment. But overall atmosphere, service, wine and beer let's this place down. Our wine tour used this as the lunch stop, as did many others. I gave them my feedback to consider others. As I wouldn't do it again. Noting also that the menu is very limited.
