Coach Jason as well as his coaching staff are excellent at teaching school age children and challenging them to be their best. The class incorporates the right amount of structure, discipline, physical fitness, and fun. There is always a good number of coaches on the mats so that each child can receive additional personalized guidance. Students are evaluated individually and promoted accordingly you won't get an eleven-year black belt here everything is earned not given. In addition to the awesome training environment the coaches are amazing human beings. Battlefield Jiu Jitsu has fundraisers and donates to charitable causes. The annual Christmas party is something that all the students look forward to every year. Battlefield Jiu Jitsu personifies the essence of martial arts and it shows in the coaching staff all the way down to the lowest belt student. If you are considering enrolling yourself or your children in a martial arts program look no further......... get down here and talk to coach Jason and start your 30-day trial ASAP

I also love that they customize and tailor your lessons so it's you-centric! Looking at their schedule, I like that their hours cater and can work for those who have school/work. Reaching out to Mr. Emil to obtain more information, I loved that he was extremely responsive, very friendly, and was readily available for any assistance! Took my 5- and 8-year-old to Six Blades Jiu Jitsu Nova for a free trial. The environment is…read moreno-nonsense and clearly built around serious training-- which as an Army veteran is something I personally respect and felt at home in, especially given the military-style banter. That said, I didn't find the tone ideal for younger kids. There was language and phrasing ("kick his ass!") that I didn't feel was appropriate for children, and I was disappointed by comments made toward boys being beaten by girls ("You'll walk home if you lose to a girl")--not exactly the message I want either of my kids internalizing. The instructors are absolutely skilled and committed, but they treat the kids like mini adults, which may work for some families, but not ours. We ended up going with another gym that's more youth-focused, closer to home, and offers more affordable memberships with military and family discounts. I think Six Blades would be great for adult students or older teens looking for high-level instruction, but it just wasn't the right fit for our young kids. Edited for further context: For further context, what the owner describes as "jovial" banter included quotes from coaches during the kids' training session: * "Kick his ass!" * "Whoop his ass!" * "You better not lose to a girl!" * "If you lose to a girl, you're walking home!" * "Pay attention, dammit!" "Banter" implies the kids could respond with witty comebacks--but what would they realistically say to grown men in a position of authority? They simply complied. That said, I truly appreciate the owner's openness to constructive feedback. It makes me feel more confident in my decision as a parent. For now, we'll stick with the more "budget" and kid-friendly option -- at least until my children are old enough to clap back at demeaning and misogynistic comments with confidence and humor that comes with maturity.

It had been years since I started any kind of physical activity and to be honest it terrified me to start again. I decided to bite the bullet and start training again. The trainers and students here are awesome. They are incredibly supportive and nobody has an ego. Everyone wants to help each other and it has been a blast getting back into shape. You can train at your own pace and everyone wants to see you succeed The trainers are very hands on and make sure that everyone understands the techniques being taught. They make training fun and are incredibly knowledgeable in their craft. The hour flies by. The facility is also great. A huge facility with plenty of mat space and they keep it clean. I have trained before in different facilities and this location is one of the best. Last but not least, the schedule of classes is great. I work very long hours and having classes in the evening makes it where I could train every day. The schedule is very accommodating. I would recommend this place for anyone whether your a beginner or an expert.

My son had never participated in anything like this before but as soon as he had his first class he really loved it and kept asking to continue . I'm not a great fighter at all but muay thai is something I truly love. I look forward to it at the end of the day and see it as something that gives and rejuvenates me rather than taking away from me. Anyways, I came to TAG MT during a business trip and had known about this school already from watching TAG MT youtube instructional vids. I came early and got to see the kids class. It's a great balance of technical drills but also having lots of fun as the reward. The coaches are great and the kids look up to them, fully engaged and are adorable in their big Muay Thai shorts :P Head Instructor Kru Chris Aboy has an amazing personality and teaching style. His encyclopedic knowledge and teaching methodology is phenomenal. He can read each student individually while also making adjustments to the class as a whole depending on where everyone is at with the previous drill. You don't feel left behind at all. Coach James is amazing as well leading the partner drills and demos (for both Kids + Adults). In general, Phase 1 covers fundamental techniques including movement, defense, attacks, and counters through progressive partner drills. Coaches will demo technique, then go around reading students and providing helpful corrections and explaining the reasons why. Calistechnics and shadowboxing in-between rounds really push the conditioning. Controlled sparring drills towards the end adds just enough unpredictability yet retaining safety and technique. Phase 2 builds upon Phase 1 and adds in more advanced drills, focusing on more advanced strategies and technical sparring. For seasoned nak muay, TAG offers an in-depth knowledge and well rounded in all aspects. I really love their elbow/knee/clinch game. Nothing is watered down at all. I learned a LOT of new details to improve my technique is just one session. Most importantly, I felt taken care of and safe the entire time. If you live in the DC Metro Area and are interested in learning Muay Thai, whether it's for self-defense or competition, I strongly suggest checking out TAG Muay Thai. You will learn authentic, pure hard-hitting Muay Thai at TAG, along with the humility and respect of Traditional Muay Thai.
