excellent help for everybody, accepts students from different background. very welcoming. Thank youread more

    1. The website information and the verbal communication in class don't coincide. services listed,…read morearen't actually provided by the school: Tuition $950.00, CPR $ 50.00, PPD $20.00, Liability Insurance $35.00 is included in the tuition (no need to pay separately) Application Fee $25.00 Registration Fee $25.00 (note: the school no longer teaches CPR nor does the school give vaccinations, CMT is no longer taught, First Aid is no longer taught) GNA $105.00 for the exam after you complete the CNA course but students still have to wait for access, it isn't immediate. So, be sure to get your CPR and PPD prior to enrollment, there is no need to pay the school separately for CPR & PPD) 2. The equipment is outdated, partially operable, or broken. Examples: the beds don't move up/down properly, the height of the beds aren't operable which requires students to constantly bend-strain their backs, supplies are piled in the corner, filled with crust and dust. 3. The hallway near the restrooms wreak of sewage smell. 4. The floors aren't cleaned properly and are outdated. 5. The trash cans aren't equipped with automated features (you have to touch the lids) 6. The sink faucets aren't automated. 7. The soap dispenser isn't automated. 8. Paper towels aren't automated. 9. Students aren't provided with enough details on where to go for background checks, passport photos; if you aren't familiar with the area or process, one has to take time to research on their own as opposed to the school having a list of companies documented nearby that can accommodate students to help meet the enrollment requirements. 10. If your primary language isn't English, you are required to enroll in English courses prior to enrolling for CNA classes at this school; some could view this as a form of discrimination. 11. If you are an IEP young adult or adult, additional measures aren't provided to ensure you fully understand the course. (this could also be viewed as a form of discrimination) 12. 19 days actually isn't a feasible timeframe to learn this course, mainly because there truly isn't enough time to practice hands on skills as a group or individually, there are 2 exams a week, students aren't provided enough time to focus on skills, more time is focused on passing exams rather than skill time. 13. The nursing book used by Cengage needs to be reviewed as well by MBON because a lot of information/steps have been updated. In addition, not all medical facilities operate in the same manner. Example: Clinical Nursing Assistants can't or don't take orders from physicians, this isn't true, some medical centers/facilities actually have assigned CNA/Clinical Assistants (RN's are on site as well but they also have their own loads such as doing in baskets, vaccinations) Example: some facilities have gowns and drapes made out of plastic (you can't actually see the plastic but it's a combination of other materials) Example: not every facility uses transfer belts due to updated technology 14. Uniforms: come to class in white scrubs, wear black or white shoes (can purchase from school) parking spaces are limited and a tight fit. 15. Cameras have been installed; the students/the school is recorded 24/7, assuming to prevent cheating. 16. The website advertises weekend and evening classes; the school no longer has weekend and evening classes. 17. The classroom desks aren't suitable for full grown adults. 18. The skills exam appears to be rushed and a distraction 1. It's timed but you aren't told how much time you have to complete the skills exam so it causes a student to rush through the process and forget steps, then students are failed and are told "you aren't ready to enter the field" 2. More than one student is in the room hearing various instructions which can be confusing and distracting and surely in the real world, this doesn't happen. 19. Rodent droppings have been noticed in the school. 20. Once a week, a toddler (assumably a relative comes to the school) and remains on site for the day. One day the toddler was napping in the lab bed which caused the class not to be able to practice their skills to avoid disturbing the toddler's nap time. 21. Purchase your own Cengage textbook from Amazon, the books at the school are rentals only and not for purchase as indicated on the website (if you rent a book, you are not able to write or highlight in the book) the rental fee is $5.00 per day totaling $65.00, if you return the textbook early, nothing is applied to your account. 22. If you don't follow directions or verbal instructions EXACTLY as it's mentioned, you will receive failing grades; it's their way or no way. The school is completely outdated and refuses to listen to reason as if there isn't any other way to get things done; technology and medical information has been updated over the years and the staff should absolutely visit other facilities and schools to see how things are being done.

Bowie State University is a gem of a school right in the heart of Prince George's County. If you…read moreare considering college, pay them a visit to see it for yourself. I have come to events on campus many times over the years, but my most recent visit was eye-catching. Significant resources have been poured into the campus as new buildings and grand refurbishments and renovations continue apace. This should be the norm for all HBCUs around the country. It is a testament to the value the state places on its universities, although the level of investment pales in comparison to College Park. The quad is the envy of other schools, some with higher endowments, tuitions, and budgets. It is big enough that it feels like a university but still small enough to feel like home. My favorite feature/building/concept is the Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community (ELLC). Home to students who want to be entrepreneurs, here they live (brand new dorms), eat, and learn (classrooms and other spaces). There is a business and creative synergy that is self evident all throughout the space. I took a cohort of school age mentees for a tour and lunch at BSU. They were over-the-moon about the Student Center Dining Hall's food and modern decor. The food choices included fresh vegetables and fruits, custom made salads and bowls, hand crafted pizza, grilled to order items, and high quality rotating items from a self-serve bar. The seating area had huge windows where the sunlight shone through. The academic and recreational buildings were top tier. But what struck me most was the energy, passion, and intelligence of the students and faculty. They treated my mentees like little brothers coming to campus to learn from older siblings. The students seemed supportive of each other. D9 organizations got along too., but the Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc. always raise the bar. Bowie State University should be proud of the work they continue to do and the student needs they continue to meet. Five stars easily earned!

The campus is probably the biggest of the DC colleges and is almost as nice as Georgetown's. There are several excellent departments there: politics, architecture, music/drama and there's the law school. Socially, the place is loaded with Irish Catholics from the Boston-DC corridor with a large contingent from New Orleans so this can mean only one thing: lots of boozin'! And with a Metro stop right at the campus you can get practically anywhere in town in minutes. The campus and the Brookland neighborhood are much improved since my time there which only made me want to give CUA a higher rating.
