Kyle was very responsive, informed, and helpful in assisting me with my IRS tax case!

Used Kyle from 2017-2024 for our tax returns. Nice guy, but if your tax situation is more complex than a simple W2, look elsewhere. His returns consistently required multiple corrections due to obvious oversights. We had to review everything very carefully before filing. For basic taxes, this was manageable. The relationship ended when we needed help with a business EV tax credit issue. There were numerous details showing Kyle wasn't paying attention and was filing forms blindly without any investigation. His amendments kept getting rejected by the IRS. When I offered to give him power of attorney so he could properly investigate our specific case with the IRS, he refused, saying that wasn't part of his job. His final correspondence was offering to help write an appeal draft to the IRS without providing any details on how he would actually solve the underlying issue or do any due diligence. I'm saving the inner details as they would take too much time to explain, but after months of no progress, we hired another professional who diagnosed the root cause within days. Bottom line: Kyle doesn't do due diligence. Fine for straightforward W2 returns if you're willing to double-check his work. Not recommended for anything requiring investigation or problem-solving.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ -------------- Update in response to business owner: Kyle claims several things are "misstated" but here are the facts for anyone reading: Regarding purchase structure: Form 15400 from Tesla clearly listed the business name and EIN. I sent Kyle an email explicitly stating the vehicle was purchased for the business. Kyle ignored both the form and my email. When the IRS first rejected our filing, I sent Kyle a screenshot proving I had told him it was purchased under the business name. At that point, Kyle tried to charge me an additional $500 for an amendment, claiming I had "never told him" it was for the business - despite having documentary proof that I had. Regarding "clear path to remedy": Kyle provided no actual solution. He repeatedly blamed Tesla for incorrect filing. Tesla then reviewed Kyle's tax forms and identified multiple errors KYLE had made, providing corrections. Kyle was simply deflecting his own mistakes onto Tesla. He also falsely claimed he had "the exact same problem with other clients." Regarding timeline and IRS processing: The delays were caused entirely by Kyle's errors, not IRS processing. Even after being told he made mistakes, Kyle entered my personal SSN instead of the business EIN on amendment forms. We discovered many other reporting errors after the second IRS rejection. The timeline was driven by Kyle repeatedly filing incorrect forms, not by IRS processing delays. These are facts, not misstatements.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ read more

The final straw for me was the complete miss of stock sales and capital gains tax owed across several accounts. I originally thought Kyle was fine. He was doing our taxes, and those of two of our adult children. I have found a couple of mistakes that led to some penalties etc., and some that we had overpaid (the IRS found that one). We decided to go with someone else. I sent our last few years taxes to the new person who within less than an hour found some major errors on 2022 taxes for us and one of our kids - so far. We are going to have to pay her to redo and refile at least last year's. I assume she will find more mistakes on previous years. Nice guy, but I wouldn't trust him to do your taxes if you have anything beyond w-2s. read more

I want to share my honest experience with Kyle Dominick, LLC, as I think a company's response when things don't go right is much more telling than when things do go right. My husband and I were clients of Kyle's from 2021-2022 (for 2020 and 2021 income taxes). In March of 2022, we received an Audit from the IRS asking for clarification on our mortgage interest deduction. We immediately reached out to Kyle (on March 29, 2023) asking for Kyle to help with this process, and started to research mortgage deductions. We quickly realized that Kyle likely made an error on our 2021 tax return. I didn't get a response from Kyle, so I emailed again on March 30, at which time Kyle asked to get our documentation so he can take a look. After a few back and forths, Kyle emailed me on April 11th stating that he compiled the response, and telling me the rules for mortgage deductions. I found his response extremely odd and frustrating. Since Kyle prepared the incorrect return, why was I being taught the rules? I asked why it was incorrect since I'm sure this rule is commonly known and not new, and Kyle's response was, " Yes, this is extremely prevalent in this area. I'm helping clients (new and current) respond to these notices." Again, confused as to why this was done incorrectly since it's extremely prevalent where we live. I shared that my expectation of Kyle, a CPA, was to correct the error (which he did) and to pay any fees and penalties associated with his error. I did not expect him to pay back his fees to prepare my return since he put in the hours. I believe that this is the minimum his firm could do (not going above and beyond). Kyle's response was, "I will work with you to reduce or eliminate the penalties and interest, but I cannot pay them for you." This is really an unacceptable and extremely tone-deaf response which, again, seems to place the blame on the client when his firm incorrectly prepared a tax return that led to an IRS audit of his client. In summary, we paid $600 to Kyle to do two years of tax returns to save time for us. One year led an IRS audit because of a mistake that his firm made. We have now spent much more time responding to the IRS and to Kyle, while having to pay additional penalties and fees associated with his mistake. Kyle has not accepted his mistake in any communications nor has there been any proactiveness from his firm to really make this right. read more

For a long time my husband and I were Turbo Tax people and we did our own tax returns. However over the last couple of years our tax situation has gotten more complicated and we made a boo boo on one of our returns. We didn't realize it until we got a scary letter in the mail from the IRS with a hefty bill. Luckily we reached out to Kyle at Dominick Consulting. He helped us figure out what we did wrong and he amended our return for us. He also gave us guidance on dealing with the IRS. This year we decided to have Kyle file our return for us and he did an amazing job. We are fully aware that it is tax season and he must be super busy, but he was able to finish our return very quickly and he answered several questions we had. It has been so easy working with Dominick Consulting. They have an online billing system so you can pay with a credit card and you get a PDF receipt. They use a secure file website where you can upload your tax documents safely. Lastly, the final tax return is sent to you in a password protected file. I used to file my taxes on my own via Turbo Tax. A couple of years ago, I received a letter from the IRS informing me I had filed my return incorrectly and I was to respond immediately. As a side, if you've ever received mail from the IRS it is a most unpleasant experience - your heart drops and you imagine the worst case scenario (i.e. sitting in a jail cell :/) I immediately searched for a local CPA and found Kyle. I sent him an email explaining my situation, we scheduled a call the same day and I was instantly relieved. Kyle explained it was a very common mistake to make and even better, a very quick & easy fix. Needless to say, Kyle has been doing my taxes ever since. He is fast to respond, explains things clearly and thoughtfully, and the systems he uses to upload documents are secure and user friendly. Somehow Kyle has made filing my taxes a pleasant experience.
