But I tend to use this carpark for evening visits to the city, when after 5pm the rate is only $10 (it used to be $9 until recently, too). Still, that's a bargain to park within throwing distance of all those Chinatown restaurants, the George St cinemas and any other manner of city delights. There's nothing worse than being stung with a parking ticket, or looping streets for eons looking for a park. Sometimes its worth throwing a bit of money at the problem and parking someone secure and handy. It makes bringing a carload of friends or family into town for the evening really quite affordable.

And chances are, you'll have some fancy new threads to show off. There's always so much happening at Westfield Sydney. Buskers in the mall, a sale at Zara, a new line of watches at Tag Heuer, or a new pair of Connies has come out at Hype. Either way, you'll never be short of something to buy, or something to look at. It doesn't matter which end or side of town you work in, you're never far away from Westfield Sydney; even if it's just to join the stampeding herds in the food court under Myer. Being a shopaholic, I could burn up a fortnights pay here in one go; and just keep rambling around until my bank card ran away screaming, or the bank just gave me the big thumbs down. Some may find the way the interior's decorated a tad too shiny, but I think that adds to the opulent atmosphere that you should expect from a shopping centre towards the upper-end of the spectrum. Be warned that you may spend sometime finding what you're after; but once you have, all will be right with the world... that's while your left trying to work out which arm to carry that extra bag on.

It was located near the north end of Hyde Park at the NW intersection of Market St and Castlereagh St. It was easy to spot from far away with the Sydney Tower Eye. The mall was huge where you can easily get lost inside. Thankfully, they had good signage at the escalators. Just from a little bit of window-shopping, there were plenty of high-end stores. You can go up the Sydney Tower Eye from the 5th floor. There were restaurants on several floors. I ate at Yayoi up on the 6th floor.

A very large Asian indoor market located in downtown Sydney, it reminded me very much of the Korean…read moreshopping malls located in multi-level buildings that were very popular in K-Town LA 10 years ago. But unlike in LA where they are not frequented, Market City was definitely hopping on a Friday afternoon. The vast majority of retail stores are Far East Asian (Chinese and Korean). There are grocery stores located in the bottom floor, along with beauty stores. There are also stand alone carts selling various knick knacks. It was worthwhile perusing them, and my brother ended up buying quite a few things.

The elaborate Romanesque architecture was specially planned for the grand building so the Government could employ many out-of-work craftsmen - stonemasons, plasterers, and stained window artists - in a worthwhile project. The Stained Glass The visual message of Sydney's coat of arms on the cartwheel stained glass window, is that the beehive depicts business, the sailing ship - trade, and the dolphins - the harbor. Panel 1 (on the left-hand side) represents the Council of the City of Sydney and symbols of architecture, while the letters I.G.B., on panel 3 (on the right), represent Ipoh Gardens Berhad, the Malaysian company who restored the QVB in 2009. The symbols are of property developers - the builders. The bottom central panel represents the heraldic symbol of a finished building, and the joining of two hands denotes the fusing of two cultures. The Queen's Secret Letter There is a letter from Queen Elizabeth II to the Citizens of Sydney, to be opened and read by the Lord Mayor of Sydney in the year 2085. My experience: This is the second time I have visited this building and on the second time, I found even more hidden historical things of note. It's a remarkable way to feel like you've stepped back in time, whether that's through shopping or through grabbing a coffee or tea and sitting in the atrium, taking it all in. Heading to King Street Wharf for the evening on Saturday, we were a little stuck for parking. When…read morewe happened upon this underground carpark, we misread the sign to mean that it was $15 flat rate and headed in. The carpark is really well lit, well signposted and feels safe and secure. The lift from the parking level was clean and new and we exited directly on to the street, just a short walk to King Street Wharf. Only on returning to the carpark did we realise that in fact we'd interpreted the sign incorrectly and got whacked for $30. I still maintain the sign was misleading but who's listening!. There's a 2% surcharge for credit cards and despite several attempts it wouldn't read our card, though luckily we had cash. If you're not drinking and driving then at $30 it's still cheaper than a taxi but $15 flat rate would have been even better!
