Sailwind Construction: you get what you pay for!…read more Roughly 2 years ago I was looking for a company to remodel my mother's home in NE Pensacola. During the bid process I was told by one of the contractors to be wary of choosing the contractor with the lowest bid. According to his logic, while the cheapest contractor might still do good work, the level of micromanagement required to get quality work out of him/her would negate the savings. Unfortunately I chose not to listen to his advice and hired Sailwind. I quickly developed the opinion that Christi Colabianchi has little understanding of the methods involved in performing actual labor. Sub-contractors even pointed this out to me, and her main sub confided in me that she was overwhelmed. This, coupled with her lack of time on the job site meant there was little quality control, and just as I had been warned, constant micromanagement was required to get a semi-decent product. Beginning with quality of product, for roughly 2 months I had 2 massive holes in my ceiling from the electricians falling through. I brought this up to her and she had no idea they existed.......2 months later! Why? Because she was rarely there. Additionally, some walls weren't square, there were several issues with installed lights not working, cracked tiles in the bathroom, malfunctioning plumbing......the list goes on and on. For one 4' section of unpainted baseboard they used 4 pieced together sections of scrap. In the end she flat out refused to honor her one year warranty and blamed me for the problems. Unfortunately I had already stupidly paid her for the 4th draw, so there was no fixing the mistakes. And then there's the issue with the subs. During a deployment a neighbor called to tell me that one of the contractors working on the house had "New American Nazi" stickers on his van. You can't make up this stuff! On three occasions we were told that the painter would be there on a weekend, and we arranged to board our dogs....surprise surprise, each time they were a no-show. The house would sit idle for weeks, and Christi's answer was always "we're working the permitting process". At one point I even refused payment and started looking for another contractor, but nobody was available to finish it on timeline, so I regretfully rehired her. To prevent others from having a similar experience I recommend that you get everything in writing! Several times during the remodel Christi would make suggestions, but she was so flighty that most of them never came to fruition. When I confronted her she would say that it wasn't in the contract and it was never discussed. For those of you about to go through this process, carry a binder with you and note every change. Have them sign and date it immediately. Also if the contract is over $30K get a lawyer to review it. A lot of these companies use generic contracts with ambiguous language. For instance, the language for my completion date said by XX date it would be "reasonably completed". There's really no way to quantify "reasonably complete", and when the project drags on and on you're SOL.

The cleaning technician Steven was awesome he patched 3 holes in the liner and no more draining for a few weeks. We received new technician when Steven left the company and he the first Friday he cleaned it, it started draining again. We filled it up a couple of times then decided let it drain to see where it stopped. We noticed a patch that they used to on one of the holes was lifted and and I took a picture and sent it to the owner Gloria Hughes on Dec 6, 2019. I started to notice that I only saw the new cleaning guy one time in November, I work from home the days the came to clean and my shades were open. On this one occasion he informed Gloria my Polaris was broken and proceeded per her instructions to replace the bag which was $60 even though it was broken and provided us with a used piece to repair it. The technician did not know how to install the piece so left the piece and machine on the pool deck which I discovered when due to my dogs chewing up the cords. ( sounds like he is in the wrong career field if he doesn't know how to fix it). From mid November until mid December I did not see him come. I have cameras in my back yard and it picks everything up and never alerted me that he was back there. I called Gloria and told her not to send him for the Dec 13th cleaning I wanted to speaking to her about some concerns I had, once I explained to her the lack of attendance she basically called my a liar and said she has never had complaints of him, she could see Steven doing it but not him (even thought he was a new employee). She said she would come look at the pool. No response from Dec 14ish- Dec 20 when I woke up to a text discontinuing our service and said we need to pay $400 to have divers come out to find the cause of the leak. On top of that sent a final bill for over $200 when it's only $150 a month and there was almost 2 months of no service. DO NOT UAE THIS COMPANY!! The give hard working contractors a bad rap!

Reef Runner handled our project unprofessionally, communicated poorly, and wasted over a year of our time. I wouldn't trust them to install a light bulb in my house. In April 2025, I contacted Reef Runner to build a steel building in my backyard. I wanted a one-stop shop and was happy to support a local business. As an active-duty military member expecting our first child, we needed the extra space. I received a quote for about $55,000 and paid a 10% deposit in May. From there, everything fell apart. Their salesperson, Jericho, almost ordered a building from a company we had specifically said we did not want to use because of its terrible reputation. That mistake alone cost months. Throughout the process, getting updates or timelines was like pulling teeth, and we constantly had to chase him for basic information. Then, in December 2025, Jericho asked when my last quote was. When I told him May, he replied, "Oh boy," and sent a revised quote for nearly $90,000. He admitted he had been collecting additional costs all along but never shared them, leaving us blindsided. I escalated the issue to the sales manager, Brian, and the owner, Gary. Both acknowledged the project had been mishandled, apologized, and assured me they would personally take over, "make us a priority", and "take care of the military." Unfortunately, nothing changed. Working with Brian was more of the same: poor communication, no timelines, and no progress. Eventually, he blamed the manufacturer for delays and even copied me on emails so I could coordinate directly. Ironically, when I contacted the manufacturer myself, we exchanged multiple emails within an hour, making it clear the communication issues weren't on their end. After roughly 15 months, Reef Runner had held my deposit and I was no closer to having a building than the day I started. I finally requested my deposit back and decided to handle the project myself. I cannot recommend Reef Runner for any project. If you're looking for professionalism, communication, and accountability, I would look elsewhere.

She replaced our old soft sided pool with a steel sided pool - that we love - for over $4000. What…read morewe don't love is the 5" gap between the pool and the deck and the 3' of sand around the ladder and perimeter of the pool. Just what you DON'T want to track in to your pool or house - SAND. But most important is that we have been requesting the brand and model of our pool and the written warranty for months. So far - nothing. And now we're being ignored. So we've paid to have the deck extended to the pool to avoid potential trip hazard. We bought steps so we don't have to use the ladder and can minimize the sand going in to our pool and our house. We found 2 small (thumbnail size) tears in our liner (we're pretty sure that her installer used our clips that we use for our cover to clip to the rail of the pool when installing the liner - coincidentally 2 of those clips don't have rubber tips. Hmmm). She did come out promptly to patch them using a patch she cut from a piece of liner. Did it do the job? Yes. Does it look like crap? YES. Our answer was to purchase ($6 for ten) precut patches so at least it doesn't look half a$$ed. So far we've paid over $4000 for the pool. Another couple hundred for the contractor to "fill in" the gap on our deck. Amazon got about $300 out of us for the steps. Pinch a Penny got $6. And we haven't even gotten a quote to do something about the sand that surrounds the pool. The sand that, when tracked in on to hardwood floors scratched the heck out of them. Do I love my pool and did she install what she said she was going to? 100%. But the workmanship is shoddy to say the least. Oh. By the way. The ladder was ASSEMBLED AND INSTALLED WRONG! Which I found out by looking at a picture of the ladder on line. Not rocket science. Customer service is questionable at best. Hope you have more success. All I can say is to get EVERYTHING in writing UP FRONT. We have a contract but still waiting on written warranty and info about our pool.

The owners clearly explained the pros and cons of each pool type, allowing us to make an informed decision. My 14x30 fiberglass pool was completed in just two weeks, including a few weather delays. The process was incredibly efficient -- they dug the hole on day one and set the fiberglass shell on day two. Every employee is a specialist at their job, and we worked with Tom, Jon, and Aaron, who kept us informed every step of the way. When I noticed the pump wasn't the variable-speed model I wanted, I called the owner and he immediately agreed to upgrade it at no extra charge. This company truly does whatever it takes to make sure their customers are satisfied. They also offer a veterans discount, which is a great added benefit. After installation, they leveled my backyard so well that no additional grading was needed for landscaping. Once the pool was filled with water, they sent a technician out to professionally clean it and provided clear, easy-to-understand instructions on how to maintain it as a saltwater pool. If any issues arise later, they offer expert advice on exactly what to do. I would highly recommend Gulf Coast Pool and Spa to anyone thinking about installing a pool -- regardless of the type.
