Hello, Dolly. Hot link to the left. I hope you get a kick out of the camera cutting my head off.
    Ron L.

Happy National Hot Dog Month! (I read it on the internet, so it must be true: https://foodimentary.com/july-holidays/) Naturally, I had to celebrate, even though weiners are not one of my favorite food groups. I had a hiking trip planned, and Dolly's was one of the places on my list of doggies to try. As other Yelpers have written, Dolly did not rent a storefront to sell her hot dogs. She has a stand in front of a self-storage place on Old Oakland Road. There is lots of unrestricted parking on this block, and there's not a lot of traffic on this wide road, so no problems there. Just pull up, step out, and get your health food. I had to think for a few seconds, spicy or hot link? I decided on hot link, and put the relish and onions on. Ooooooo-eeee, it turned out so good! The spice is hot, the actual dog is between warm and hot so you can taste it, the skin is just right. I made sure Dolly saw how much I loved it. I'm for small businesses, and food carts are about as small as you can get. Apparently Dolly's been at this for years, so she's doing something right as a small business woman. She's very friendly too, but I can see her getting hot if you try to rip her off or take advantage of her. To quote Aretha Franklin, all she's askin' is for a little respect. Dolly's Dawgs is a little out of the way, even if you're in this area. The food is worth the trip, and Dolly is such a doll. Get your dog at Dolly's!

Jumbo Dog w/ ketchup, mustard, and tabasco!

I pass by this stand every day and I always want to stop by. Finally, I got out of school early and she was still there, so I stopped. I wanted a simple hot dog, a big one. I got the jumbo even though she offered all sizes of hot dogs and sausages. She also had chili cheese, which I first asked for, but I didn't want to wait since i was meeting someone soon. That's my next order. Dolly is super sweet and she had on a scrabble Halloween costume which was cute and fun. I love her attitude, make me want to get more hot dogs from her. She told me a sad story where her daughter left her costume w/ all the money in the pocket and someone stole it. Come on, it' a small stand and you really have to steal from them? Anyway, I'd totally come back (maybe when it's a little cooler!).

I was feenin' for a wiener. Wiener as in hot dog, sickos. Wienersnitzel wasn't calling my name today, and I've always seen this hot dog cart but never stopped by. Today was a good day as any. She has a few options to choose from such as hot links, Polish sausages, and small and jumbo hot dogs. I ordered the Mild Polish Dog ($3.50) She has lots of condiments available for you such as diced tomatoes, diced white onions, relish, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, jalapenos, dijon mustard, sauerkraut, and hot sauce. The polish WAS huge, as Huy N. noted... just the way I like it. *insert joke here*. It had a bit of a spiciness to it, not too hot or intolerable but as it was mentioned to be "mild", I wasn't really expecting any kick to it. It had a snap to it because of the casing which I wasn't too fond of (see my Mark's Hot Dogs review http://www.yelp.com/biz/marks-hot-dogs-san-jose#hrid:FwHAYz2hDJyYODnDFpIBOw) but overall the hot dog was juicy and filling. I was so full I couldn't finish the last 2 inches of it. Overall, I'd come back again if I'm in the area. It's always nice to help out small businesses like these.

We arrived a little after 7 and it was not busy inside for a Tuesday. It seems most people take their food to go. They do have ample seating inside if you come with a group which is nice. The ambiance inside was nice. A lot of fun decor and even a cutout to take funny pictures. They even have a tv playing music videos with modern music. Cool vibe! You can order via the kiosk with your card or at the counter whichever you prefer. We all ordered individually from m the kiosk and had no issues. Since there were seven of us who ordered, some orders arrived later than others. I can understand this since they're alls full filling online and delivery orders. I ordered the Texas forever hotdog since I love bbq and made it a combo with regular fries and soda. They get bonus points for serving Coke products, especially Coke Zero. My friends ordered hot dogs , corn dogs and the truffle and bulgogi fries. The stand out hotdog for them was the truffle dog! I recommend their business!

Every few blocks on this stretch of Alum Rock Avenue has a similar setup: A truck/food stand for mainly to-go orders with very limited seatings. A regular taco is two small soft tortillas with your choice of grilled meats. You then have to add toppings and condiments at a garnishes station. Let convenience be your deciding factor then.

Damian's is located inside a plaza on Alum Rock and should be easy to spot. There's a cart stocked with cilantros, onions, limes, salsas, jalapeños, and grilled onions that you can add onto your tacos, as well as ketchup and mustard for your hot dogs. Their tacos are $2.50 each with the exception of Lengua which is $3. They also offer bacon wrapped hot dogs for $4. We tried.. Pastor - This one was okay. Not bad but nothing special. Chuleta - I've never heard of this until now, but it's smoked pork chops. It tasted like bacon and was surprisingly good. Would recommend. Tripa - I didn't have any, but the boyfriend said it's the best tripa tacos he's had. Most places don't offer tripa, and the places that do offer it cook it a little too crispy. He said this one was the perfect balance of chewy and crispy. Would recommend. Cabeza - This is my favorite taco meat and they did not disappoint. Soft, juicy, tender. Would recommend. Lengua - Their lengua obviously has been braised for a long time. Most lengua is a little chewy but this one melts in your mouth. Unfortunately we prefer our lengua with a slight chew but this was still good depending on your preference. So tldr: Would recommend the cabeza and tripa tacos, and give the chuleta tacos a try if you like bacon. They're cash only so be sure to bring cash.
