I pass it quiet frequently and always wanted to stop in, but it was never on the top of my priority list, especially with so many other thrift stores on that street. I had some Christmas items that I wanted to donate, and thought, this is my chance to check out Bibles for Missions. I could tell just from stepping up to the donation door that they bombarded with donations. The donation door was wide open and there were a couple of workers in the back, no greeting, acknowledgment, or thank you, so I plopped my donation down and decided to check out the store. The first thing that I noticed were the signs placed in the entrance "please leave big purses and bags at cash, we reserve the right to search your bag," and so on. Maybe there has been a lot of theft? Not sure, but it did not give me a friendly first impression. No greeting, or acknowledgment throughout the 15 minutes browsing the store, but there were plenty of staff on the sales floor for customer assistance/questions. I did not find that there was a great selection, it was like walking through grandmas basement. Nothing caught my eye here, and I was not "wowed" by anything in particular. What stands out about this thrift store than others, is that it is mostly volunteers, and the majority of the profit goes towards their partnership with the bible league of Canada. More information found on their website: http://www.bfmottawa.com/about-us Would I go back? Only to donate, not to shop.

Definitely the best thrift store in the city! Lots of quality merchandise at great prices…read more The store is well laid out and the staff are super helpful.

While waiting for the traffic lights to change, I liked seeing a store directory. I came here without any knowledge of the stores here. I liked coming here to figure it out. The Trainyards is like Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga. It is a bunch of stores that cover a lot of land. Think of it as a neighbourhood of stores. You have to strategically figure out where to park and walk to the stores that are around you. During my visit, I parked a grand total of three times. I stopped by Michaels and got some good items that were on sale. I was a happy shopper! I then parked in front of the Gap outlet. I also visited Old Navy and Sail that were on either side of the store. I then decided to drive and check out what other stores were there. I spotted Kettleman's Bagel Co. and parked to have lunch. The selection of stores is cool. If you are more of a mall shopper, this setup may not be for you. If you do like box stores, you'd like it here. My only problem I had was dealing with a woman in a minivan who was waiting for me to leave my spot to pull through. She actually honked at me. I didn't appreciate it and gave her a signal to say that I was staying. I was pulling up my GPS and I was under no obligation to move out of a parking spot to convenience an impatient idiot. (289)

There's a Kettleman's Bagel shop here; wish we had one in Kanata / Stittsville! The mall was big enough to be inviting to return. We will definitely come back! Some time ago, I went to Dollarama near Costco, Citigate Barrhaven location, 4235 Strandherd Drive)…read moreexpecting to have a nice shopping experience with my wife. It was our first time ever visiting this store. It's a large store so we decided to look around at the merchandise before buying a few kitchen items. When we went to the cash register to pay, the male cashier fiercely demanded that we take off our masks. The cashier yelled at us the entire time. Next, he accused us of shoplifting. The cashier forcefully insisted that a few other customers stay at the cash register and be witnesses while he humiliated me and my wife by saying, "There's more items in this store than people pay for." After saying, "Don't move", the cashier quickly took a photo of me with his smartphone. After doing that he said, "I know what you look like, if you come back here, I will call the police. I will kick you out." My wife and I don't steal and definitely paid for everything we selected from Dollarama. (If they have a time limit for shopping it should be posted on their entrance door.) While I can sympathize that some businesses are taking losses due to theft problems, they shouldn't take out their anger and rage on honest customers. This cashier is a psychopath. He falsely accused me and my wife of stealing, while yelling and humiliating us in front of other customers. I will never go back to this Dollarama. Therefore, given this cashier (who is possibly the manager or owner), I can't in any way recommend this store to any potential customers. You have now been warned how they treat some of their customers at this Dollarama location. I would have given a rating of zero stars, but that isn't possible when leaving a review.

Dollarama - Hostess and Vachon cakes now at Dollarama?!? Not a dollar though, lol, they are $3.25.

This is my local Dollarama. I first discovered Dollarama back when I was a student of limited funds…read moreliving in Montreal (where Dollarama seems to have had a monopoly, because it was the only brand of dollar store around, unlike here in Ottawa where we have Dollar Tree and other independent dollar stores). However, this was back when everything was legitimately a dollar. Nowadays, they have items up to $5 or so. Anyway, back then, I was amazed at all the household items I could get at Dollarama, and admittedly most items in my tiny studio apartment were from Dollarama, haha. So after I graduated and started earning a decent income, I stopped shopping at Dollarama, but then one day popped in to browse for old times sake, and they have totally upped their game! Dollarama has some seriously cool stuff, lol. Like Funko Pops for $4! And limited edition chocolate bars, like Green Tea Kit Kats, Inside Out Reese's peanut butter cups, etc. for $0.82. I've spotted Method brand hand soaps, Live Clean brand sunscreen, Batiste dry shampoo, Biore face wash, like legit brand names, not just sketchy brands you've never heard of, lol. They even had organic rice cakes. So all this is to say, I once again like Dollarama. While I still feel that many of their items are poor quality, and I'd rather pay a little more for better quality items, they do have some items that other stores carry and charge more for, and they have some unusual items that you can't find at other stores, or have been discontinued at other stores. This location in Carlingwood Mall is very spacious. It's in the basement, but there are stairs, escalators, and an elevator. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot.
