I have been told to never use this optician again - and here lies the tale;…read more When my daughter was four she was seen, as is normal, by the school nurse. I was told her left eye was weak and to make an optician's appointment for her. I did this very quickly, although I was a bit surprised. The optician ask tried lens on my poor little girl, changing them adding them, taking away.I felt stressed, I think my daughter was in hell. Afterward, the optician told me she could not take responsibility for a prescription as my daughter had astigmatism and all sorts of problems and she was referring us to the hospital. Worried mother syndrome!!!! Guilt!! Neuroses!!!! Four months later we atended the appointment. Afyer some simple tests, drops were put in her eyes and she saw the consultant. After about twenty minutes I was called in. I was asked why I had a referral. The consultabt said to me, Your daughter has perfect vision. He asked had examined my daughter and then said, Please never go there again. I don't think he was anti this optician, but anti poor diagnoses. Anyway, I'm relieved.

They are facing more and more competition locally now more than they ever did. Their shop is very modern and well designed. They have a massive range of glasses for adults but are unfortunately let down by their lack of range for older children. The staff have appeared to be the same for years as well and they are all friendly and will go out of their way to help you when you need things fixing etc. If you're looking for a local optician I could reccomend this one to you.

This place really impressed me. Okay, so having to wait nearly 15 minutes to be called in having arrived for my appointment spot on time wasn't so good, but to be fair the receptionist was profusely apologetic, and the service I received after that more than made up for it. My eye exam was the most thorough I've ever had and the optician was courteous and polite, even though I asked (in hindsight) some really stupid questions! I felt that the price charged for the sight test and contact lens consultation was extremely reasonable, and I came out with lots of free samples of products to try which I have never been offered before. I would thoroughly recommend this opticians and, for the first time ever, am seriously thinking of going back to the same place twice!

I went to Large & Large for about 11 years, and they're okay for ordering glasses, as they have a…read morewide range of both high-street brands and high-end designer ones. They like to give discounts to regular customers, and the staff are extremely friendly. However, the receptionist is quite the dud - for over 7 years I regularly ordered the same types of contact lenses (Acuvue) every month, and each time she would either order the wrong power lenses, the wrong amount, the wrong colour or the wrong brand. Sometimes the lenses would even be broken. After a while the contact lens supplier (an external supplier) said he would accept no more returns, so I was stuck with many the wrong brand/broken lenses etc. The final straw was when the receptionist ordered Focus Dailies, a brand I'd never even tried or mentioned, and both she and the manager had the nerve to tell me that this brand was what I'd been ordering for the past 7 years every month! I showed them receipts and previous empty boxes of my Acuvue orders, but the receptionist stuck to her story but then apologised. Since then I've been with Vision Express, who order my lenses and deliver them within 3 days. I'd have to wait at least a week at Large & Large, and it would take up to three weeks because of delays due to the receptionist's idiocy and incompetence. Avoid ordering contact lenses from here!

When my husband adopted my son we bought him a glass tankard with the date of his adoption and his new surname on it - this was something he treasures to this day. You get a certain number of letters free and they pay a little more for the rest, if you want your package to look ultra pretty they charge a small fee - around £2.50 I think, to gift wrap your pressie - they do it really well and it looks so beautiful with bows and ribbon - very nice finishing touch. There is something to suit the smaller budget - very reasonably priced normal wine glasses - to cut crystal for the larger price.
