Multiple workers complained about being underpaid and being poorly treated by management. I recently had a bad experience prompting me to voice my concern. I was outside the front door where a lady was yelling and screaming. She was smoking a pipe. Employees just stood by. The fact that this is just so normal to everyone there scares me. I am 78 years old. I will not be returning. Buyer beware!

It makes a big difference when you're looking through the racks to have a friendly face telling you about the deals rather than feeling like you're in the way, which I've experienced at other thrift stores in the past. There are two floors to this shop - today the second floor was wedding themed, which was amazing. There were also formal dresses, jewellery, handbags and suits on display upstairs - anything you might need if you were going to or planning a wedding. It was fun poking through the wedding dresses and seeing right in front of you how much styles have changed throughout the decades! Downstairs there is a "front" that has racks of clothing and some jewellery and in the back, you'll find some homewares and yet even more clothing. Shoes, winter coats, and kids clothes are back there. The prices at Hand in Hand are amazing!! You won't find any almost-full-price goods here. If the item wasn't priced it was $4, and Friday's are student discount days! (Good to know!) We found an amazing hot pink pineapple print dress...definitely not for me, but one of our friends was so excited to be getting it. This is the kind of thrift store I enjoy being in - it really feels like you could find rare treasures here if you just had enough time.

Their random bins are full of many broken items and it seems very disorganized. The bags and hats are normally pretty cool but the men's plus size section is at times limited to older styles and the women's plus sizes are full of more formal wear and less casual items. At times you can find gems but you have to look hard! The staff are so nice and that's what makes the place worth shopping at. The prices are set and they don't overcharge like most Frenchy stores. It's worth the money to check it out instead of buying new items.

I have been going to this store since the new owner ship took over, and I loved it. It was always so bright and clean, and the staff was so amazing. The Manager (Tracie might have been her name??) was so kind and friendly, and I loved the regular day time cashier, Lana Banana! As well as all the other girls out back! I always found at least $50.00 worth of amazing quality clothes! I moved out West about a year and a half ago, and I just recently moved back. I will never go back. The store was a mess, it was dark and dreery looking, and the staff was AWFUL. I asked the cashier about the manager, and she said she never knew her? She quit like a year ago!?She was the greatest. I didn't recognize any of the girls doing the clothing drops, and they were all very standoffish and negative. AND THE CLOTHES. The clothes were terrible. The bins were over flowing, half of the clothes that were hanging up where on the floor, the sizes where a mess, and there was no organization what so ever. The quality was something out of a nightmare. I tried on 6 shirts, 4 of them had very visible stains, and one of them was ripped! The kids clothes were even worse. It was so disappointing. I had never felt so dirty in that store before. Guys was my go-to place, but I will not be back.

Last summer my friend and I set out to hit every Frenchys between halifax and Weymouth in the same day. (This summer we're making a weekend out of it to reach more) Anyways, she convinced me to stop in here. She, like me, is a huge thrifter and said this place was amazing. I hadn't been in years. I was doubtful, but if I trust anyones thrift opinion, it's hers. We stopped in and I was so happy we did! This is up there with favourite Frenchys! Their dress selection is large and varied with sizes and brands. I'm a big dress shopper, so a good dress selection is important to me. Like every other Guy's Frenchys they dump new items every hour. This place is really clean and there isn't a ton of bins compared to other locations, but enough to keep you busy for a while! You can easily loose an afternoon searching through these bins. This Frenchys also has a lot of knick knacks and misc items to rummage through, which I love!

They are all located on or just off Highway 1 which makes for an easy drive. For some reason the valley Frenchys have the absolute best selection compared to the Halifax stores. I've found my best pieces here. Land's End, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, BCBG Max Azaria, and FCUK are just some of the brands I've found and bought. All clothing is priced less than $10. There is a handy price list in each change room and by the cash. There is a definite art to rummaging at Frenchys. Every one has their own style. Some dig to the bottom, some neatly pile rejects, others create towers that eventually sway and collapse. I prefer the one corner method. I chose and corner and work outward to ensure maximum coverage, like one would wash a floor. I can do a bin in five minutes or less. By the time I've looked through each bin and am ready to try on my finds the staff are diligently restocking on the hour. You really could spend all day in the store. In addition to clothing I've found quite a number of good books here. A very nice pictorial encyclopedia of cats in fact. I usually have the most success with the sweaters, tops, dresses, skirts, and blouses. I find the pants and shoes to be quite lacking at all locations. Most times the shoes are simply too beat up and the pants too out of style. The best parts about Frenchys is the selection, the brands, and the constant replenishment. Whenever I take friends along we are both always able to find something, even if our styles are completely different.

It looks really small from the outside but they've done a shocking amount of things with the space and there's a whole lot of goodness packed in. With just about everything you can find at the city Pete's locations and a few special extras, all I could think about was how awesome it must be to go to Acadia and have all that within walking distance at all times. Where they go awry a little bit is on the to-go counters. The wait times ended up being a bit outrageous for no particular reason. A breakfast sandwich to go took about 25 minutes (no joke), and I saw a breakfast smoothie take about 15. Maybe they were just getting things started that morning and hadn't set up all their ingredients, but it was a bit much.

I've only actually been once, but it was enough to make me swoon. I mean...I've been following them on social media for ages and have drooled over their photos, but now that I've been inside, yep, it's love. I love that just about everything in the shop is made in Canada, and there is so much love for local Nova Scotian artists too! I could have bought a car full of goodies - Rifle Paper Co journals? Adorable prints? Jewellery dishes shaped like woodland animals? And then the jewellery itself that is just so gorgeous, it's hard not to want a little bit of everything. The store is packed full of goodies in every space available, but it doesn't feel cramped or crowded. The set up is perfect for browsing in a crowd (even though I was there in the off-season). I can't say enough about this charming shop! I can't wait to go back.

The modern, open and bright space really let the products on the shelves shine rather than forcing customers into an awkward stumble through overpacked aisles of random nick-knacks. Within seconds of seeing all the inspiring and adorable prints, handmade pillows and stuffed toys, quirky greeting cards and stationery, and tons more, I knew I was in trouble. Much like a similar store in Halifax (Love, Me Boutique), I just wanted it all. And that's okay...because every purchase helps support a legitimate local artist or crafter which makes me feel MUCH better about gift-giving than just picking up your average mass-produced 'Authentic Nova Scotian' anything. Besides, there were so many great products available for less than $20 which makes it easy to do some damage without having to hate yourself for it later. I will absolutely be back. Hopefully soon and often.
