One of the things that sets them apart from other dollarstore's is their large collection of balloons and their ability to blow them up with helium. Each helium balloon costs $0.50, you can call ahead to have them blown up and just come pick them up. On weekends there is usually a line up for the helium so if you need a lot of balloons best to call ahead. You can buy your own balloons elsewhere but if a balloon pops while it's being filled with helium, Forêt will not replace it so best to purchase their balloons. Forêt guarantees that their balloons are helium certified. Forêt is also a family run business. The owners speak English and French. A review below mentioned that personnel didn't speak English but I've been coming here for years and never had a problem. The store is very busy, the best way to get service is ask at the cash which isle a specific item is located in. Forêt is such a gem, the south shore is lucky to have it!

For those who do not want to venture to a conventional supermarket or big box store like Walmart, Giant Tiger fits the bill. This store is somewhat similar to Hart which is just a few blocks down the street in the sense that you can find home decorations, clothing, groceries, toys etc at affordable prices. There is a fair selection of non perishable items, frozen food and even fresh meat and dairy. Unfortunately I find many of the items outdated in terms of style, the clothing selection is very basic and a far cry from being fashion forward. You can find all kinds of knick knacks and gift ideas however it certainly does not replace your bigger box stores. I would describe Giant Tiger as a convenience store for all household items.

If you don't like negotiating the underground garage at Dix30, I'd recommend parking here or at Walmart and walking over to the mall like shopping areas assuming the weather is fine. I did manage to find a cool packable backpack for traveling ($17) and a Herschel brand eye mask (for sleeping) for a mere $6. However, there was absolutely nothing in the home goods section that interested me and nothing in the women's clothing section that interested me. I am always hunting at Marshall's for nice dresses for work by brands like Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. They had nothing here except for a couple Anne Klein dresses that were too casual for work. I also was put off by the number of small children running around unsupervised like it was a playground. It was hard to browse some racks because children were darting back and forth. I N S I D E Marshalls counts how many people go in to maintain the COVID protocol at the moment. You walk in and....*angels sing* It's so clean. It's so organized. I've never seen a Marshalls so...just so organized. Every Marshalls gets different stock even in the US. So it's always a treasure hunt. I was SO tempted to get gloves here. They had so many lovely gloves and scarves and ugh. The struggle. If you're in need of winter clothing and you're in the area during the winter time, it's like a treasure trove of winter goods here. We ended up getting a soup bowl and gloves (not for me). But yeah, I didn't look through the clothes because I didn't want to end up buying things I couldn't fit into my luggage. O V E R A L L Everything was so bright and shiny and I just wanted to buy everything. Too bad we live in California.
