It's basically a massive tee lover's playground. Bins and racks full of vintage graphics--you could easily walk out with a full haul if you're willing to dig a bit. I also loved the unexpected retro toy selection. We're talking He-Man, Ninja Turtles, and all kinds of nostalgic throwbacks that make the space feel fun and not just fashion-focused. Pricing-wise, yeah--it's a little high for thrift, but they do have some $5 bins that are worth flipping through if you're in the mood to hunt for a deal. Because we're careful shoppers, we've had great luck with a variety of products, especially with things like luxury chocolates (well, for me, Brookside is outside my budget at a regular store, but I love the Dark Chocolate Pomegranate flavor) and recently-past-date chips. They've had a decent selection of gluten free stuff, too, and cereal at $5. for 3 boxes is great, especially when the brands are mainline and pricey ones like Kashi, Cherrios, etc. We're not tea or coffee drinkers, but I've seen Starbucks flavors and other exotic brews all at discounted prices, and they even have the $1. container of mini dried marshmallows that are so great in cocoa and on ice cream. We've been shopping there for just under a year, and the staff (I think most are family?) has always been kind and friendly. We're just so grateful that between McGary's, dollar discount places and thrift stores, we do ok on a fixed income and can even splurge on the occasional bag of Brookside chocolates or mini marshmallows. I shopped there on dollar day recently and bought six items, ranging from a shower mat to a box of envelopes to some banged-up boxes of ziplock baggies. On $8 day, they sell luggage and kitchen appliances, but people line up for hours to be the first ones in the store to get the best items. I did that once and got a couple of humidifiers and a yoga mat. So it's kind of like a giant jumble sale, only the items are new (though sometimes damaged or missing parts).

This thrift shop just south of downtown on Stone Ave. is a true hidden gem. It's also a lot bigger than it would appear from the street. Around the corner is the Treasure Shop, also run by the Symphony Women's Association, which has the fancier furniture and antiques but Second Fiddle has tons of more reasonably priced housewares, clothing, and knick-knacks. LOTS of great women's clothing, purses, and shoes in many styles from vintage to modern, with more emphasis on the 60s, 70s, 80s. There is a dressing room and the women running things were sweet and friendly. Standard prices for most items are posted around the store and at the register, but make sure you bring cash as they do not have a card reader! Proceeds seem to support Symphony education and outreach programs, so you can feel good about spending your cash.

A nice staff of friendly volunteers take care of the merchandise and the shop. I am sure that they would like to see you.
