My initial visit and review was on 6/26/21 where I found the exact same store conditions concerning both staff and inventory. I posted 20 something pictures that visit depicting the conditions. Today I needed a few things and decided I would visit here again, assuming that my first visit was just a one-off and things would be better and our new store would be humming along. WRONG! My visit today was exactly the same or worse in every way. Pictures document the deplorable lack of inventory. You can't sell what you don't have, right? And again there were only TWO employees in the whole store! Dollar General Corporate needs to WAKE THE HELL UP! HOW can you let this happen? PATHETIC and for me, never again.

Since I didn't want to lug a massive tree around while continuing to shop, I came back later for more purchases. This time, I went to a different cashier who, to put it bluntly, looked as old as the state of Georgia. She demanded my ID for a transaction over $50. When I told her (with the same attitude she gave me) that I wasn't asked for ID when buying the tree, she shot back with, "It's always been our policy." Clearly, this isn't true--it's inconsistent and fake. If that's the policy, why wasn't it enforced earlier? The whole experience was aggravating and made worse by the cashier's poor attitude and lack of understanding of customer service. Needless to say, I won't be recommending this store to anyone. Not only is the service subpar, but outdated policies--or poorly trained staff--make for a frustrating shopping experience. It's probably time to reevaluate both your policies and your employees.

PROS: -I actually have found some really good deals in this place in decent -condition! : Washer and Dryer with dining table with three chairs (all wood) and delivery = $150.00 (although we found out later that the bottom of the washing machine leaked, but it wasnt bad at all). - The One dollar grocery store have some really good deals on some good items such as dollar bread and dollar darjeeling tea (that is usually quite pricey) - it is indoors, away from the elements! -there are some very interesting characters and items around CONS: -There seem to be less and less vendors so there is not much of a variety going on. -There were a couple of times that I wanted to purchase an item and they gave me a price that was way too high for the item (needless to say, i didnt buy it) -There were too many occasions that the item that I bought from the dollar grocery store like cereal or tea HAD BUGS IN THEM ... gross... - And please be careful when you buy food from the dollar grocery store, because if you dont pay attention, you will end up buying an item that has expired two years ago! The patrons and workers take care of this store. I don't know how long it's been open, but it doesn't have the "tired" feel of most discount stores. And it's neat. Things aren't all piled up on each other in any random area; each section is separate and where you would expect to find something it's usually there. I didn't initially think of Deals as a "dollar store" but there are a lot of things that are $1. If I had kids, I come here every other month or so, give them $10 and let them go crazy. And if I were just starting out and not sure of what I needed, I would come here to buy dinnerware, glasses, etc. The prices are comparable to (and in some cases lower than) Wal-Mart and Target, so why deal with the parking and long check out lines of a bigger store? I don't know if I would have ever gone into this store if I wasn't dealing with a "candy jones" but I'm glad I did. We first stopped at the smaller Salvage store. It had an assortment of clothing for men, women, and children, and you really need to comb through the racks to find something in your size. I wish they would organize the clothes by size, rather than by brand/style, but my time was well-spent, as I found two nice tops from brands I love (Tangerine and Loft) for $8 and $3, respectively. They also have aisles with various grocery and household items. We found an embroidered yard flag, an auto sun shade, a pair of earrings, and some Pellegrino sparkling water (3 for $1). My sister-in-law also found a cute pair of sandals for under $15. We next went to the Overstock store, located in an old Kmart just down the road. It had a larger selection of clothing, shoes, watches, jewelry, and grocery and household items, and also had sporting goods, furniture, and appliances. My brother and his wife got great deals on golf shoes, but interestingly, I only found one clothing item (a skirt) for myself. Note that the fitting rooms are closed at both stores...bummer.
