For example, EVOO is very cheap. We normally spend upwards of $15-$20 on EVOO at Stop & Shop, Whole Foods as well as other places and it's $5.99 here for the same volume...how?!? I know what you're thinking, the quality is trash, but you'd be wrong. We did some research on what we bought and whether there are any additives and it checks out. I can't say that this is the case for all items, but worth a try to save some mula. This store looks like it's well taken care of. It's clean, organized and the staff here are great. Before we were going to leave, we looked for the restroom. When we found it, the entire hallway leading to it was dark and had been blocked off with room dividers and a sign saying out of order. We made a joke about it because it had the look of a closed off area, not just temporarily out of order. We were exiting the store, walking past the checkout area when an associate, a middle aged woman who had the look of being some kind of shift supervisor, basically wanted to start a confrontation with us. As we were walking past, well within proximity for us to hear her, she made a comment to a young associate that seemed to be about us joking about the restroom out of order sign. We turned to clarify what she had said and she repeated that we made some joke about the restrooms being closed. We did not engage with her and left. I went back to the vestibule area to look in to see her name tag, but I couldn't see one. Then we left. I had planned to write to Ollie's corporate but found on their website a rigid format to leave positive remarks but no interest expressed in hearing other feedback. As I tried to find a way to communicate with them, I learned that they have some very unpleasant actions against them, touching on discrimination and other unpleasantness. At that point it seemed that this kind of employee may be just the expression of their management, and I decided not to try to correspond with them. Then I came to Yelp and saw the recent review and comment about the restrooms having been closed since June of 2025. I suspected when this happened that she was particularly sensitive about the restrooms being closed. It appears that Ollie's has developed a very negative culture. I would avoid them in the future.

I bought a bandana, a Du-Rag, and a black hand towel for my bathroom which I had been looking for, for a little bit now. The prices are pretty decent, seeing as how I'd be more inclined to visit a place like this versus a Dollar Tree. There's just something special about these types of places that you don't get at the corporate stores. The Gold Stars Gift Store is a highly underrated gem in Pawtucket. Don't be intimidated by the outside, come on in and you'd be surprised to find something for your house or yourself. It's like a corner store, dollar store, jewelry store, and more mixed into one. (I know what you're thinking, who the hell buys hairclips for $10 a pop? Well I'm one of those crazies. Anything that shines and sparkles and makes me tune into my inner child I just can't resist. It's a sickness really, but I think we all have our weaknesses). ;) Anyways, back to the review. Since Halloween is later this month, my search for wigs was what really brought me to this place. I was looking for a nice long blonde wig for a potential Alice costume and sadly the only selection they carry are brunette wigs. Lovely nonetheless, but nothing really costume-y. A plus for the wigs ranging from $20-30. I did ask the merchant about their limited selection on wigs and his response was understandable. (because lighter colored wigs don't sell well). Oh and they have a nice selection of jewelry, nail polishes, yet smaller selection of makeup. As far as clothing goes I did see a few pajama styles I thought were cute, though I gave up when I tried looking for smalls. Besides hair accessories I did buy a makeup palette and a really cute knitted beanie. Again, similar to a style of hat I bought at another store on Thayer, kinda like UO (forget the name of it) that sells over-priced new vintage-looking clothing. That hat I bought for $30 (yes $30 for a disposable knit hat?! Yesh tell me about it) I ended up buying this similar looking one for $4. Cons about this place would probably be due to the fact that their stock is so random. Anything you find here they probably would have limited duplicates for. I guess for some that might be a pro, esp. if you like unique finds. I guess overall as far as shopping experience goes, organization could be better. It's not bad, but I think it has a lot more potential. And as far as stock goes would love to see them expand their selection of shoes, purses (preferably lower the prices), makeup, and wigs! All in all I'm satisfied with my purchases, for the prices at this shop you can't complain. For as long as I like uber fobby/kawaii goodies I'm going to keep checking back at this place for sure. :)

Of course, I then got distracted and headed over to the food aisle where I picked up some not-so-bad looking maple syrup...so I'll have to see if it's the real deal considering how little I paid for it. Also grabbed some British and Scottish sea salt and malt vinegar chips - already finished the British bag so I'd say to grab one of these for $2 if you can. Anyway, overall this place is awesome because you can browse around and find yourself purchasing things you never knew you wanted or things you actually really needed. Their prices are fair and the staff is friendly. This store in particular is located right next to Chili's and Asia Grille in a busy plaza :)
