It does go up and down depending on management. I asked a store employee why so many things unmarked. He said that Ollies does that. They can not put a price on everything. It is so buyers have to take it up to the register to get price. This is just stupid! The employees were great. The manager was right at me when I told the cashier about things not being priced. Nothing. Get a new manager! Not unless he has come in to this store and trying to get straight. I would have bought more items if they were marked!

The aisles are barely wide enough for one person to go down, plus they seem to be blocked by merchandise displays every time one turns a corner. The place is a mess, dirty and a safety hazard. The store patrons as well as the store clerks all seemed to carry an attitude like they had a chip on their shoulder. I don't like dealing with peoples attitudes. Forgive me for wanting to know if you had patio umbrellas. They didn't have any patio umbrellas, and that's not really a complaint for me. They did have patio chairs and lawn chairs, plenty of charcoal too. Why in the world would a national chain retailer have hip-hop and club music playing on the sound system? Granted I don't object to those genre's, if I'm at the club, but for the store's sound system? I expect Muzak that would somehow appeal to most of the masses, not BOOM BOOM... BOOM BOOM...

After looking around, I think they've done it. For essentials and things you didn't know you needed until you see it here, this place has got it covered. The name of this store sums it up -- a lot of dollar items and dollar or more-plus things, but none were over-priced compared to comparable places. The last thing asked as I left the store was if I was looking for anything in particular, because he'd order it. Everyone who came in was offered a basket for shopping and if they needed it, assistance in finding something. If it wasn't here, he said he'd order it and for that person to come back next week. Who has customer service like that anymore? and in a 99c+ store? Three stars, but I have to throw in another one for the customer service.

The only drawback was that the store seemed as though it was maybe opened a bit too early as a lot of shelves were somewhat empty and thus location was much less stocked than the Raleigh location. Again, just an observation - maybe in a few weeks it'll be more stocked and have more to look at. The main area of this location is furniture. I've never purchased furniture from Big Lots, but there seemed to be a decent amount of focus on this department as well as mattress options. I grabbed a few housewares items and household staples. The prices on ICE flavored waters was .75, which is lower than the grocery store and we love those drinks! Got a cute fall doormat for $10, too. I'll definitely stop back in soon to check out the holiday items. Tons of parking and great central location!

Staff are always nice but there has never been more than 2 registers open at a time and most of the time it's just one. They have a huge selection of books....all kinds including children's books. I buy for my kids here all the time. It's just hard to find if you are looking for something specific. They keep up with items from the current season which is nice. Some prices are better than other stores bur some are not. If you sign up to be a member you get emails about current items, discounts on your order and invitations to special events. You don't want to see pictures....it's not pretty but is worth the trip if you have time to look around.
