I really like that they sell the 20oz Coke products. Most places only carry the 16oz versions. Although I have never really asked any questions of the staff, this place has always been friendly to me. I wish they had later hours in the evening and open on weekends, but I understand because their client base is probably not large enough to warrant paying someone to stay open later. Nashville seems to be in short supply for places like this. I'm glad Merchant Mart is here for concessions type businesses.

Part of it is the very blase attitude of the employees: they're very whatever, when I'm looking for a smile and some chitchat. They've got lots of great snacks and they're cheap cheap cheap. Stuff looks like vending food stuff and at least 25% cheaper. Loving that. There's janitorial stuff, business stuff, office supplies, that kind of thing. You can get in and out there faster than Sam's, and it's reasonably priced, but it's got a chilly attitude, and not very inviting.

We were craving sweets after dining on some street tacos so decided to stop in to this Ollie's location. It appers to inhabit half of a former grocery store complex. Parking is ample, the crowd was slight (perhaps due to it being lunch hour.) The aisles are wide, stock was straight and the shelves were full of all manner of bargin-bin greatness. We've stopped into other Ollie's locations before and this one is the best, clean, stocked, ready to shop.

Me and my wife won front of the line passes…read morelast week and got in on Friday at 10am but there were people in line who were looking to resell product and trying to cut in front of people who had been waiting since the sun rose. Going in at 10am people were running at full speed, groups and families ran in and canvassed what was valuable and by 15 minutes in there was a line of customers at the testing table, almost everyone had carts filled to the brim with electronic doo dads they were making sure worked and could be resold. Meanwhile me and the wife got out with 3 things we needed, paid $15 each, and discovered when we got home it was about $350 in merch, came back the next day and picked up two more of the things that are $170 retail, and felt amused. I will say one thing I think could be improved is to find some OCD kids and let them go through and sort things. My kids love doing that there, grouping the 200 of the same items into one area. Gotta be other kids that do that too. Oh yeah, and randomly they threw a princess party into the mix on Saturday which is why we were back and discovered there were 2 more $170 things there.

I like the idea of the Idea Hatchery. This stretch of Woodland is full of 'hidden' businesses that…read moreblend in with the older homes on the street. Because of the name, I guessed the Idea Hatchery was a shared workspace or a writing collective. It *only* took me [redacted] years to get out of my car and walk in to see what's what. Flanked by an antiques shop and an art gallery (if you've done Tomato Arts Fest you know right where this is), the collective's appearance is a bit nondescript but that makes the discovery all the better, no? Inside the threshold are eight uniquely (east) Nashville businesses. As an incubator, the Hatchery is a perfect spot to test out concepts and gain sea legs before opting for a bigger location or an expanded footprint. It's a great go-between from online/out of the house to stand alone brick and mortar. I believe this is the spiritual parent to the Shoppes on Fatherland. Right now the current occupants tend to skew a bit 'female' in what they do (fashion, art, etc.) but that's not to say that there isn't a lot for a number of demographics to choose from. Selfishly, I'm hoping that some sort of food/treat business takes up residence in the shops. Toffee? Taffy? Shaved Ice? I can keep going folks. Actually, an old-timey, regional candy store would fit in well. Boom. I just found your newest tenant. Sort of. East End has a lot of fun businesses to explore. Next time you're in the neighborhood, scoot just a bit past that (locally) famous intersection and get a taste of what the area has to offer. I think you'll enjoy what you find. At the very least, it's a nice way to pass the time on a lazy weekend day.

They receive shipments daily and seem to carry a little bit of everything. The toy selection is pretty neat if you aren't looking for pretty packaging. There are nice strollers, clothes, electronics, appliances, rugs, etc.... I think the pricing is pretty fantastic. Like any kind of bargain establishment, you have to be willing to dig a little and you have to stick with it if there is a particular item you are shopping for. I love little known treasures that offer value and Essex definitely meets that criteria if you fancy yourself a bargain hunter.

This store is within 5 or so miles from the BNA Rental Car Center and driving the backroads (Surface Streets) was so stress free and easy when one is not used to all the different highways they have in Nashville. I did stop by this store twice to get gas as well as some snacks on the first trip. This store was pretty well stocked but messy. I did get to try/use their new merchandise scanner verification system at the exit. The West Coast Stores I frequent have not had this new system installed yet. This system is designed to verify you have made all your Scan & Go purchases correctly and I'm surmising the self-checkouts and to some extent the regular check stands also. One basically walks under an inverted U shaped device with cameras mounted on all three sides. Just walk through at a normal pace and exit the store. There is still someone manning the exit for issues in case. Easy and painless. I can't wait until it reaches my stores!
