This store just opened in May/June of 2024…read more It is your typical Dollar store...a little bit of everything...most items priced at $1.25 (the days of dollar price tags are gone!) The store was well stocked and very organized. I was enjoying my shopping experience until I got in line to check out. There were only two people ahead of me, so no issues there. I had only 11 items, and I placed my hand basket on the belt. Maribel, the cashier, rudely said "take your items out of the basket, and put them on the belt." Excuse me? Why? Is it too much work for you? No hello....no small talk....no pleasantries. AND you need me to take the items out of the basket? What a b*tch! As it so happens, I am a cashier at Target....and if I ever treated a customer/guest like that, I would be reprimanded or fired. This may "only" be a dollar store, but you can still treat your customers better than this! Maribel has no business working with the public. Good help may be hard to find, but bad help will ultimately ruin your business.

This Dollar Tree location has become my favorite store due to its organization compared to other…read morelocations in the area. While it's common for Dollar Trees to have numerous boxes out, this particular store demonstrates a higher level of organization. I recently visited on the Monday before Christmas and was pleased to find that despite the crowds, the store created a pleasant atmosphere with softly playing Christmas music. There were three cashiers managing the crowds, I was impressed by the efficiency and friendliness of Maribel, the cashier at the first register. She made an effort to greet customers as they entered the store and wished them a happy holiday season after checking them out. Happy that we have this Dollar Tree in our Plainfield neighborhood!

BARGAIN HUNTER My…read moreinner Bohemian loves a good deal, and this Dollar Tree in Romeoville might be the best one yet. For some strange reason, the location on S Weber Road was listed as "temporarily closed" on Google maps, but it was definitely open when I stopped in to grab a few birthday cards & stocking stuffers on 12/1/23. It was fairly busy on a Friday at noon. The shelves were full, everything was neatly organized (unlike some other DTs that are a hot mess express), and they had everything in stock that I was looking for. They carried a few different flavors of sunflower seeds (my wife's preferred salty snack these days) as well as Herr's jalapeno popper cheesy poofs, a personal favorite of mine. I will never, ever understand why people spend so much money on greeting cards. Why would you pay $7.49 to say "happy 6th birthday, Little Timmy"??? GTFO with that foolish hokum. Little Timmy wants the video game/shiny object, he doesn't give two shits about who the card is from, much less its contents. For the love of god, please stop overspending on throwaway cards (I'm talking to you, MOM!) Anyway, Dollar Tree carries Hallmark's Expressions line of greeting cards for the low price of $1. You can literally get a year's worth of birthday / bereavement / Mother's Day / congratulatory cards for the cost of 1-2 "fancy" cards at CVS. To me, buying cards at Dollar Tree should be a no-brainer. The previous reviewer gave this store 1* (bah humbug!), so with my gleaming 5* post they're now at an even three stars. As Thanos once declared, this Yelp page is now "perfectly balanced, as all things should be". Dollar Tree corporate may not care, but seeing things in a state of equilibrium brings me joy. * TL;DR * It doesn't phase me that Dollar Stores are now charging $1.25 for their stuff; on the other hand, I nearly had a conniption when I paid more than 99¢ for a tall can of Arizona green tea at a gas station (I think Circle K & Arizona Tea are in cahoots for price fixing). This Dollar Tree was clean, the employees were chill, and the store was bursting at the seams with wonderful snacky-snacks and inexpensive holiday decorations. Overall, I'd recommend this discount variety chain, and this location could very well be at the top of the heap....or should I say, top of the cheap.

This is the WORST Dollar Tree I've ever been in. First the shelves are empty. The door to the…read morestock room was open and I can see that they have stock but no one bothering to put it out. Second there was one cashier. I happened to be fourth in line and the poor kid had a register problem. He knocks on the door to the managers office and she proceeds to yell at the kid, "What?!" He tries to tell her he needs help and she comes out of the office yelling and saying, " I told you to put this stuff away!" Everyone in line heard her and was appalled that she spoke to him this way. Not to mention this manager looked unprofessional with greasy hair. She then went over to register one and stood there doing God knows what and by the time I got rung out she finally started ringing people out. I asked the cashier if she always spoke to him like that and he said yes. If I could give no stars I would have. Listen Dollar Tree if you say you have no employees here's your reason. Unacceptable! Never going to this location again. #dollartree

CHEAP TRICKS…read more Decorating for Halloween can be expensive, but what've you got to lose when everything's $1? When we relocated to Bolingbrook, this effectively became 'our Dollar Tree'. It sits in the same strip mall as Best Buy and ALDI, in the northwest corner of Boughton & Weber. My wife is well acquainted with the bargains here and I'm slowly coming to the realization that not all seasonal decor has to be bought from Wayfair/Amazon/Spirit. The staff here have been much nicer than at other Dollar Trees, checkout is relatively fast (thanks to multiple open registers), and the store isn't a messy disaster like at so many other discount stores. On a trip in early September, we found a 5pk of plastic party syringes, glitter pumpkins, a skeleton bird, and creepy shotglasses. Supply of the really cool stuff goes quickly, so if you see something you like, don't hesitate to buy it. Remember: it's only a buck! Once in a while you'll gamble on a purchase and wind up with junk. Point in case: I'm not sure what I expected from a 99¢ box of orange twinkle lights, but it said "over 5ft!" on the package and when I took them out, almost half the strand was empty wire. It only had the male end of the plug, so connecting them end-to-end wasn't possible, either. Win some lose some, I guess. * TL;DR * Might this be the highest-rated Dollar Tree in the Chicago suburbs?? Public opinion seems to think so. Over the last few years, I'd spent a lot (too much, really) on lighting, animatronics and F/X for a holiday I barely got to enjoy. Being a homeowner is making me wiser, thankfully; I'm learning not to overpay for disposable party goods and other single-use items like outdoor cobwebs. So long as the quality is decent, I'm all for bargain hunting. Even if some of the products are lame, the good deals far outweigh the ripoffs. Don't do anything stupid like buy scallops or dairy at the Dollar Tree -- stick with your known commodities like sour gumballs, slim jims, greeting cards and gift bags.

Dollar Tree - This $1 store used to be a Walgreens, which makes it a bit bigger and brighter than most others

BUCK THE TREND $1…read morestores can be small, dirty and dimly lit, but this Dollar Tree is newer, and therefore somewhat nicer. What used to be a Walgreens on Boughton just west of Schmidt Rd is now yet another discount store for Bolingbrookians to enjoy. It's been in business less than six months in a quiet area opposite a defunct Family Video. Walking in, it looks like they have WAY more space than they know what to do with. A few seasonal aisles towards the front couldn't do much to fill up the large empty spaces left by the previous tenants. The tall ceiling and mirrors on the walls (still leftover from when it was a drugstore) make this place feel cavernous and surreal. I will say that this -- or any $1 store -- is the best place to stock up on candy for Halloween. Bags of mini Snickers, Twix, Reeses, Airheads, Blow Pops, everything's only a buck so go crazy. Protip: set aside all the chocolate stuff you like and give the crap you don't want to the trick-or-treaters (I'm told this is "mean" and/or "selfish behavior"). Have to say I'm surprised they decided to open a dollar store so close to two others; there's one 2 miles west on Boughton as well as another one south on RT 53.....also 2 miles away from here. I'm all for cheap stuff, but three Dollar Trees within five miles seems a little unnecessary. * TL;DR * Recommended buys: seasonal single-use items (fake cobwebs, deviled eggs trays, plastic syringes for party shots) Not recommended: fish (either frozen OR fresh), toilet paper (just spend the extra $$ on some Charmin for your heiney) If you live in Bolingbrook and appreciate a bargain, look no further. You've got your pick of Dollar Trees in the area, so yay?
