A Shining Light at 5 Below - The Kindest Young Man I've Met!…read more I don't usually leave reviews, but after my recent visit to 5 Below, I felt absolutely compelled to share my experience. There was a young boy working there -- I wish I had gotten his name -- but he left such a strong impression on me that I couldn't go without writing this. In a world that can often feel rushed and impersonal, this boy stood out like a beacon of kindness, patience, and genuine warmth. From the moment I walked into the store, I noticed him. He greeted every single person who walked in with the most sincere smile -- not the forced, robotic kind, but the kind that made you feel like you mattered. That small gesture alone was refreshing, but it was just the beginning. As I browsed through the aisles, I had some trouble reaching something on a higher shelf, and without me even having to ask, he noticed and came over to assist. He was so polite and respectful, saying "Let me help you with that" in the gentlest voice. It wasn't just about being helpful -- it was the way he helped. He made me feel seen, valued, and never like a burden. A few minutes later, I noticed an elderly man struggling with his cart, and once again, this kind boy stepped in immediately -- with no hesitation and no need for recognition. He chatted with the man kindly, helped him sort through items, and even offered to walk him to the front to check out. You could see how much it meant to that gentleman. Honestly, it made me emotional just witnessing it. At the register, I watched him patiently help a younger child who had dropped some candy and was on the verge of tears. Instead of brushing it off, he knelt down, helped the child pick everything up, and even made a funny face to cheer them up. The child's tears turned to giggles in seconds. It was such a small moment, but it spoke volumes about his character. In every interaction, this boy radiated compassion. He wasn't just doing his job -- he was doing it with heart. He treated everyone with the same level of kindness and respect, whether it was a small child, a teen shopping with friends, or an elderly customer just browsing. That kind of character and empathy is rare, especially in someone so young. I hope this review reaches his manager, because this young man deserves every bit of recognition. He's not only a fantastic representative of the 5 Below brand -- he's the kind of person who makes the world a better place just by being in it. I left the store that day feeling lighter, simply because I had witnessed real, honest kindness. If every store had just one employee like him, shopping wouldn't just be about buying things -- it would be an experience of joy and connection. To the kind boy at 5 Below: thank you. Keep being you. The world needs more hearts like yours.

The store is a legit safety hazard and health hazard. I've tried to contact the district manager seeing as how the store managers are happily rude. I'm actually having to take back juice I bought the other day that is a year old. O not shop here or better yet be prepared to be sick or buy faulty items. Have empty lotion bottles, staff is mostly in the back room doing whatever they do. Staff will literally ignore you, line is always long. There's a Spanish guy nasty attitude and a nasty attitude black lady it's crazy because truly all of them are horrid and a real change needs to occur before they be put out of business by exhausted residents. I personally wouldn't wanna pay for nothing in that store. Once I get my refund of the year old item, that's it. I'll be following up with OSHA/DOH and DOB seeing as how part of the building is chipping and causing rubble on the sidewalk. Matter fact! I'll return with a video of this ghastly place: I'll rather pay Target and have my items delivered in perfect condition and not outdated food.

This is the location in Long Beach! :D…read more Ooh Are you like me? Dollar stores are my favorite places to shop! Everything inside for a dollar but sometimes there are deals like two for $1 for certain card brands in the greeting cards section! And even then, items that come in packs provide even greater savings. Affordable is the key word here. When everything in life combined makes life so expensive, finally there can at least be some reprieve in your life, well, if you venture to come here and find what you need. It's probably not for everyone. If you're overwhelmed, hate or are allergic to messy places, don't or even hate shopping with a passion, you don't have a house or office or family or friends ;) this place will not be for you! But what does that mean for me?! LOTS more for me to shop! Hahaha! :P As for messy, this place draws a lot of different ppl and probably - I'd venture to guess - products come and go quickly so I guess that's a reason for the store to be kinda in disarray. If you have patience to find what you need, you will not only get what you need but save some hard earned money. Parking lot: I love it that they have their own triangular-shaped parking lot. It's smart and just the easiest way to park. Customer service: Inside the workers might not speak English all that well but be patient and they will help you much as they can. Products inside: Great finds for household items (screwdriver packs, zip ties, rear view mirror items for your desk, clips of different sorts, bottle brushes, plastic hangers, ziplock bags, containers and also food containers that are stable poly propylene plastic, toilet paper, tissue paper boxes, paper napkins, condiments, vinegar, household cleaners, dishwashing liquid, hand sanitizer), simple office supplies (packs of pens, pencils, art supplies; writing paper and pads of different sizes; zippered pencil case pouches), things to simplify your life, gift wrap essentials and greeting and thank you cards, snacks, decorations (artificial flowers; nice/cute glassware), and a lot more I'm sure of that I missed bc I wasn't there all that long. Today I was there for a pair of slippers to wear in the hotel room, ziplock bags and vinegar to wash and store my salads and fruits, and affordable a greeting cards, but I also found other things I needed such as a pack of plastic hangers, an over the door hanger hook, alphabet beads and teeny clothes pins for a future art project, tissue paper, paper napkins, a large poly propylene plastic container for washing veggies in, and a couple rectangular containers for holding the veggies. Later during this trip (so I won't have to tote everything around), I'm going to return to pick up some fun finds for prizes for my lions club (on Oahu in Hawaii) Tail Twister fun activities. I'm glad this place exists so that having simple fun and living a simple life can be somewhat more enjoyable and affordable. Thank you for doing what you do, Dollar Tree! I appreciate you for stocking such great finds and for always attempting to keep everything stocked as organized as you can despite all the foot traffic that comes through your store! :D
