Dollar Trees in general are usually a pretty shabby affair, but this one must be under new management or something because it was running like a fine-oiled machine. Gone were the aisles littered with remnants of past shopping trips and fallen items off the shelves. Gone was the line 12-deep. Instead, the whole place was neatly stocked and tidied up to the point that I couldn't find one shelf with a particular product out of place. There were plenty of employees busily doing their thing and available to answer questions. And although there was just a single line up front, it moved very quickly. So, a smooth process, minus some otherwise interesting clientele. I'd come back in a jam, but I won't go out of my way for it.

The problem comes in is there line IS ALWAYS BUSY AROUND 930PM ALMOST EVERY NIGHT. IVE TIRED ON PURPOSE. I don't know if they take it off the hook or what, but that's not cool because people will call last minute to see if an item is there before coming to the store. Now that is POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE if you all are shutting down the phones at 9pm or 930pm..

But I went with my daughter today to check it out and this place is actually super. They had really cool odds and ends and supplies. Dollar store could never haha. We picked up these brush pens so I could try my hand at calligraphy. They are vibrant and apply soooo nicely to the paper. I'm happy with these as a starter set of pens. They have the oversized barrettes that are super on trend right now at a very affordable price of below five dollars haha. My daughter saw all the Hatsune Miku merch that they had and flipped her lid. So we got her some stickers for her boom box and caboodle at home. Whole purchase under twenty and totally worth it. It doesn't feel like we bought cheap garbage, like at other discount stores. Also I have high hopes for the cleanliness of this store since there aren't any cashiers. It's all self check out but think about it. They'll never be understaffed on checkers AND you'll always be able to find an associate on the sales floor, stocking or cleaning and assisting. This store is taking a leap into the future and I'm excited to see where they go.

There was so much to look at that I'm surprised I didn't close down the store, having arrived when it opened. Well, I'm really off track because my main concern for writing this review is to give kudos to Alex. I am not a self check out person and not for all the obvious reasons that people write about. It's because I just do not enjoy doing that. I explained this to Alex, and without a hiccup, he smiled and said, "No problem. I will help you and we will get through it." (I paraphrased, of course.). Anyway, he was cordial helpful and had cool two-toned hair. Thanks, Alex you were great. Additionally, I appreciate you.

If you're looking for something crafty and affordable. DAISO is the place. I love it how they don't sell it in bulks. Like crafting papers, envelopes, etc. Just so I can buy what i just need. Their system here is a bit conplicated to understand. But those that does not have a price "Y" on it, it usually starts with $2.50. The one with "Y" price on it. You just have to go look for a price sign that is placed around the store and compare it. SERVICE :: The lady that helped me today was really nice. Beside that, the elders that work there is pretty ignorant and irritated. Overall, I'll say DAISO is the stationary/crafty heaven. It's so affordable here. They have a variety of home goods and snacks too.

They have beautiful things for Christmas and for the kitchen. Also some personal toiletries and some food too. The store is very clean and it has great lighting. It is pretty big the only thing is that it gets crowded and the aisles are very narrow. We had to go around people to get to see everything we wanted to see. I would love to go back, maybe a different hours and maybe in the weekday so it Can be less people and I can see More things freely.

There are certain things, however, that I will not compromise on - even to save a few bucks. Surprisingly, 99 Cents Only carries enough name brands to satisfy even me. On this particular visit, I found Kleenex brand tissues, Propel fitness water, Reynolds aluminum foil, flavored chapstick (2 sticks for .99), Duncan Hines brownies, and Crystal Geyser bubbling mineral water. My mom also found some great brand name buys! My favorite thing to buy at the 99 Cents Only Stores is toys for my prize box. Did I mention that I was a kindergarten teacher? I have bought all kinds of things for the prize box that my students go gaga for: rubber stamps, plastic firemen & policemen, rubber/plastic dinosaurs, snakes, bugs, and fish; real shells (particularly popular with the girls), little bottles of bubble stuff (originally packaged for weddings - 9 in a box for .99) and plastic hairclips and barrettes. They are all brightly colored, fun, and stand up to use by 5 year olds! AND it saves me a ton of money! (which I'll end up spending somewhere else, but that's another story altogether) Check out $.99 Only Store and see if you can't find something you need for less, so you can save your money for something special! P.S. I've even seen pregnancy tests in the checkout aisle, which brings several questions to mind. Number One - Is a pregnancy test REALLY an impulse item? Number Two - If one was TRULY in need of a pregnancy test, would you put your trust in the one from the 99 Cents Only Store? That's a topic for another reviewer to expound upon as I was rather definitely not in the market for one ;)
