Having a graduation party for tomorrow, so me, my mom and my sister went there. Of course, I had makeup bought for me and my mom got a metal spatula for barbequing. I was hired by the store manager store 00773 Dubuque iowa at a pay rate of $9.oo per hour. Well, 1st check only $7.35 per hour. store manager said Darrett working on it. 2nd check, same thing Darrett. now my last check cause the store manager did not do his job, nor the assistant manager Amanada who is rude, lost, confused as to what she is doing & making everyone else do her job duties. I finally had enough. she was rude & disrespectful & every single day has to call & bother the district manager, Darrett, over nothing & I got fired for standing up for myself. that store is so out of control & lost & the. 2 management are not doing anything but costing that company thousands of dollars every week. they do not stock or take care of cutomers, they just rearrange the store which screws it up for the stock that needs to go out. they are lost & should not be in that store. not many people left eworking there, I do not blame THEM. now they dropped the pay for new people to $7.35 again. noone wants to work, especially all the work you do there on top of managers work, for such cheap pay. it is an insult. I was fired over the store & supervoisor beong over there heads & eliominating the only workers that really WORK!!!!! wow! I feel for anyone going there to apply, even though there are a very few who are good people & want to keep that place running. to add to this review, the district manager, Darrett said he has the JFK store managers replacement in training. so he said they are firing Tony. too bad. read more

I am sitting in this store waiting, again, in a very long line. I'm watching customers complain and leave their stuff and walk out. The store is half empty and only one cashier daily. Corporate only pays $7.35 an hour, so I guess they get what they pay for. Sad. read more

Terrible service. Had two employees sitting in their office talking about other associates while there were lines to the aisles on the two registers that were open. They have such stupid people working there if it weren't for everything $1 I'd NEVER go back. A customer in front of me had a bunch of issues and the employ just looked at him like he was stupid the whole time instead of helping him. She let him leave becuz he thought his card wasn't working. I go to pay for my things, after 20 mins of being in line, and the chip is broke not his card. It won't work for mine either. So she looks at me stupid and tells me it's declined for the 4th time after I swiped it this time (I knew My card worked as I had just gotten a new tire 30 secs before). It wasn't declined and the card swipe said it was accepted and asked if I wanted a receipt, I said no and she then proceeded to not let me leave becuz she didn't know if it charges my card without me saying yes to a receipt. She didn't tell me that and me being environmentally friendly doesn't take bags or receipts. So I had to wait AGAIN for the just as stupid supervisor/manager to help her again. I'm going to stop here becuz I'm honestly getting more pissed off the more I talk about it. I hope everyone else's experience was better. read more

i agree with every review posted for this store on JFK. however, in the, or some of the management staff, & some employees, the ones who really like their job & strive to do all they can to stay there & hope, i say hope things turn around. it is so sad that that store went from the top two down to the last in popularity. i have been there over 3 years & i still want to stay, but it is sooooooo, hard to do the jobs of many to keep what is left of the store afloat. there are a small few who work there that want to keep it going, but there is no help from the manager, one assistant manager & the corporation themselves. If corporation would listen to the store employees suggestions, the district manager, & also stop being cheap & pay their employees more than minimum wage. people may say, well its a job. No, its peoples lively hood & they do like where they work, & paying people minimum wage & working their asses off, is insulting & shows the opposite of what Dollar Trees policies & training videos teaches us & the public. that store is so far down, i, as part of management, really, truly do not know how, or if it can get better unless corporate stops sending tons of merchandise, pays more to keep employees there, to allow stocking hours into the weekly payroll, which is so ridiculous, & to allow Dubuque stores to use more than one cashier throughout the day. Only having one employee all day is the main, biggest, but fixable, complaint that i notice-hear from customers. i have noticed that the main reason i stay there is because i want to continue to help, aid, & serve the employees & keep good positive relations with the community. i put them first in ways that Dollar Tree does not like or may be against their policy. i do this from time to time because every single day i see & hear how bad this store is, & how unhappy customers are. i just want to say that i will continue to hope, & pray that things are & get netter when i get back from my health issues. It is going to be a huge uphill battle, but i will do everything i can. i would like to add that the only stocker this store has, only 1, that is trying to stock merchandise from 2,300 piece trucks weekly. he is doing a wonderful job, he's going over the top, but i tell him to slow down because i don't want him to hurt himself before, or ever, i come back. if anyone does go tot he JFK store in Dubuque, & see this gentleman, Randy, please let him know how much you appreciate his work. It really is an impossible job too keep all the empty shelves full with just one person, especially since there is plenty of merchandise in the back room. thank you. read more
