Very good food a little expensive though we are happy to have you martins nice serviceread more

We go to this Martin's several times a year when we visit our family's lake house. This past week…read morewe had some not great experiences I wanted to share in hopes the feedback can help the store. One of the first things we did was approach the deli counter. A tall older man was there, speaking to a woman; It was a personal conversation not related to a deli order. However, it was clear he was too involved in that conversation to help us, so we placed our order at the kiosk. We then went about our shopping. We got a lot of items, it took a long time. We had to restock a house for 6 people for a 5 day/night trip. We returned to the deli to pick up our order after we finished shopping. Another man came over and lectured us for not rigging the bell and telling them we placed an order at the kiosk. He told us, we have to do this because it doesn't tell them or alert them to orders placed. Well, again we couldn't because the man who was there was too invested in a personal conversation to acknowledge us, however he clearly watched us place this order. The new man then began to ask us about or order. It was not that much. 2lbs of two different cheeses and 1lb of pepperoni. Another lady comes over to the deli and the man who's now helping us is completely overwhelmed and flustered by our order. He calls for help and the original man who's ignored us came over. They then began to prepare her order! Seriously, her's ahead of ours which has now been placed for an hour or more. The man who ignored us sliced her cheese then gave it to her and left. The man helping us, then called for him again and asked him to bring out our cheese; he then told us he had to help her so this is why we had to wait. He then continued to make our order. The whole time I'm wondering why they "had to" make her order first? What the point in the other tall older man is? And so on. We checked out, then checked out with our alcohol, then left the store. We went back to the store the following day realizing we forgot to get 6 filet mignon we needed for diner. We went to the meat counter, and were told there are none. We were told we could buy the $6 ones that are pre frozen in the packages, no thanks. We ended up buying a few small items then went to Palumbo's for the meat we needed. It was really disappointing to be ignored several times by the person at the deli, to be lectured as if we did something wrong, then ignored again, as if we didn't matter, etc. We spent more than $500 between our two trips there Thursday evening and Friday afternoon. To the store; Do something to make your kiosk system alert people an order was placed! Also, consider moving the tall older man to another role. He was way too worried about hitting on ladies and carrying personal conversations than he was about filling customer orders, or acknowledging them at all. He was aware we wanted to order and ignored us for that personal conversation, he was also aware we placed an order at the kiosk, he ignored it intentionally for no real reason at all. He never even said hello to us, nothing at all, just completely ignored us. He was aware we were waiting more than an hour when he then helped someone else instead, and so on.

Very interesting concept for a mall. This isn't your typical mall where it is filled with your run…read moreof the mill chain stores. That's not to say that there aren't chain stores here, but not as many as other malls. This is more of your community mall than a destination mall. If you pull up their website and look at their directory it may seem like the chain stores outweigh the mom and pop stores. You have to take into consideration that the directory includes stores that are not actually part of the mall, but are basically mall adjacent. Some of those stores are located on outparcels rather than having that cohesive indoor walking we are all use to. For this community I bet that it is a perfect fit. The shape of the mall is very unique. It is all one level and basically the shape of the letter S. It was confusing for me at first being that this has been my only visit so far. I'm not sure how the mall walkers really get a workout here. Some of the walkways are nothing more than a small corridor. No food court to speak about, in fact there is a restaurant that takes up a two store fronts in different walkways. I also believe there is a pretzel place inside, but that is about it for food. The mall needs some updating, but it's not a direly needed thing to be done. The older look gives it some charm still. The anchor stores are quite different than what you expect to find in a mall. Ross's Dress for Less and Big Lots really don't scream mall, although Sears and JCPenney do. It's worth a stop to check out or grab an item if you are travelling the turnpike and decided this is where you are going to spend the night before you continue on your way.

Honestly, from the outside, this looks more like a strip mall than a 'Mall'. We walked in the…read moreetrance marked Dubois Mall between Big Lots and Ross and sure enough, it's a 'Mall'. Besides anchor stores Ross and Big Lots, there is a large J.C.Penney. The interior public areas are quite wide, with high ceilings. An average sized Bath & Body works and GNC are located in this section of the mall while many of the other businesses are smaller 'mom and pop' type businesses including a kitchen store, a craft store, a remodeling business and HW Book Peddlers to name a few. Wandering down toward J.C. Penney, there is a wide, bare hallway that looks like a dead end. Being of a curious nature, I wandered down there to find another section of the mall. Not as big, it runs parallel to the other section and J.C. Penney is also accessible from here. The mall office is located off this corridor and in front of this was a display of moving dinosaurs! That was a fun surprise. This section includes DuBois Cafe, Uzi's Pastries, two recruiters, Claire's and a nail salon plus more. Like many malls in America, this one is hanging on; not the haven it was in the 80's or 90's. The anchor stores are definitely worth stopping in to visit, and there are several discount stores of one type or another scattered throughout worth a look. That McNulty's looks like a childs heaven with all the stuffed animals! One area is set aside with arcade games. A few other game machines are scattered throughout the mall as well as several soda machines. Empty shop windows have been painted with cartoon characters which is festive. The wide hall ways make a nice space to stretch your legs on a cold, rainy day. There is lots of parking and a fair number of mall entrances. You can easily spend an afternoon window shopping. Who knows you may, like us, find a couple of items to buy. Then stop by the cafe for a snack or meal and walk off the calories or sit on a bench and do a bit of people watching. There are also several other businesses that share the parking lot including a restaurant and a movie theater. I understand the beginning of the Beaver Meadow Trail starts somewhere near the Mall. I'll have to go find that. When it stops raining.
