However, there are tables of boxes of different sizes and then in the same table there are open packages of items. Most boxes aren't marked with what's inside of them. The only way to find out is to take the boxes to a counter where staff will open them for you. I understand that people are careless and probably leave things a mess. But if this is the only way to see what's inside the box, why wouldn't they take the time to actually write what is inside of the box before you take it over? I walked past so many items that probably were great, but I really did not want to stand in line and wait for their staff to open up every box. The pricing leaves something to be desired as well. I understand that there are discounts according to the day, but you would go in on a Thursday and get the items for $.50, and on a Friday the exact same items are $12? Seriously? I know many people enjoy this kind of store but I can honestly say this is not for me.

I had a little spare time while passing by again today, and pulled in. I was immediately greeted by Riley, a good natured Golden Retriever with a tail on non-stop wag mode. Passing through the door, I was also hailed by Dan Curtis, who owns the shop with his wife, Julie. Dan warmly welcomed me right away. For a small, cozy shop in someone's home, it is PACKED full of lovely things; handmade candles, birdhouses, decorative hand painted signs, antiqued furniture, floral arrangements, tea, etc. And even though the sheer amount of goods was a little staggering, there was definitely order to it. I was immediately charmed. While I browsed, Dan chatted with me and another customer perusing the shelves. "95% of the things you see in the shop are made right here by my bride," he informed me. "There's nothing she can't do." Looking around, it was hard not to be impressed. A few minutes later, Julie came out, and like her husband, I found her very gracious and welcoming. She was happy to chat with us. For handmade things, I was surprised to see that the prices really weren't as high as I expected them to be. I picked out three wall accents, and I think I spent less than forty bucks. Not bad. I could have bought more (and wanted to) but my budget wouldn't allow it. This place is awesome, and I love love love supporting a local business, especially one run by such friendly people. I'll definitely be back - they have great gifts! Oh, and a tip - if you can't make it in during normal hours, you can make an appointment. And if you swing by off hours (within reason, obviously) and Dan happens to be in the shop, he'll open it up for you. Yay for a great locally owned shop! (PS. And by guys I mean, little plastic toys that my friend likes to call "whirly gigs." They have whirly gigs! They have whirly gigs! Are they even called that by anyone else? Do I care? All these questions and more will be answered - no, they won't. I absolutely adore this place! Their chocolate is delicious, homemade and cheap, and they sell the little whirly gigs out front in the summer! How adorable is that! :) The place is full of adorable animals and dolls and trinkets! Wow :) They have like, a different room for every type of thing they sell, and there are several rooms. Miniature stuff. Toys. Trinkets. And lots and lots of delicious chocolates. A whole room full of chocolates. Nom nom nom. If I didn't give this place a 5, I may as well call up an old people's home and check myself in, muttering about how we bailed out the Brits in World War II and that in my day, Frankie Valens was scandalous.
