Humane Society's little spot will be my go-to for thrifting and donating. It's totally non-profit and volunteer operated, with proceeds going directly to a local mission -- unlike other "non-profits" in town, who spread dollars across a corporate hierarchy or pump revenue up to a national office. The shop is cluttered, so expect to do some digging. When you find something you like, the price tag will be next to nothing. I picked up an oxford cloth button down for a buck. And keep your eyeballs open for Sophie, the thrift store cat!

However everything I looked at was as or even more expensive than brand new furniture at Ashley's or Target. I decided not to buy anything, that if I was going to pay that much I may as well buy new. I really wanted to love Dirt Cheap, but it turned out to be something out of my recurring stress…read moredreams. The shelves were enough to stress me out. They were horribly disorganized and desperately needed to be cleaned out. While I found some hidden gems amongst the rubble, I was mostly bombarded with broken items that should have been thrown out or recycled. There are lots of boxes of Amazon, Target, and Walmart returns to sift through. Be sure to bring a pocketknife otherwise it will be difficult to open the boxes that are still taped shut. Don't plan on stopping by the bathrooms while you are here. When I visited, the bathroom smelled horrible, both toilets were clogged, and neither stalls had toilet paper. I'm not really surprised by the state of the bathrooms as the employees seemed to mostly be standing around chatting with one another. Only 2 registers were open, while 5 other employees stood at the front of the registers goofing off as the lines at the register got longer and longer. It took almost 35 minutes for me to check out. If you are patient and willing to dig, you might be able to find some gems. I found a few decor pieces that were in good shape and reasonably priced. However, be prepared to dig through an avalanche of junk and wait for a while to check out. Things could likely be improved with the introduction of efficiency amongst employees, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

My account was never recovered, so we stopped going and switched to Costco and the Sam's Club in Little Rock. After almost a year, we finally returned to the Conway location. While scanning our items, the store's main manager, Kevin, recognized us. He mentioned he hadn't seen us in a while and asked what had happened. He even remembered our account issue! After explaining everything, he sincerely apologized, said he'd look into it, and comped our membership for a year! That's leadership and customer service! Now I can come back every weekend.
