06Oct2026 I have been a shopper for years, at this store…read more They have always been negligent in their service, but I did not mind because I dont like being monitored while shopping anyway. I am a seventy three year old black female and usually buy my monthly laundry supplies here. This day I spent $94.07 but left an item behind Oxi Clean powder. I called constantly during the week but the phone went unanswered, When I went back to retrieve it later in the week I was told no manager was on the premises. Clerk called her and she asked me to stay about an half hour because she was taking her daughter to school via clerk. Advised her I had an appointment and would return Tuessday of the next week. Meanwhile I purchased what was left week prior, the Oxi clean. Upon returning today the clerk who had assisted me on the day I left the item relayed to manager "She's here". Manager appeared and advised me she would have to check the tape. Returned after about 12mins. with a small screened telephone and showed me a tape of a person purchasing items. The visual was blurry and it did not appear to be me. I questioned why would I spend $94.00 to steal 10.00, and make two extra trips for something if I had not left it. She never really engaged in the conversation and was apparently determined to stick to her resolve, refusing to replace the left item. I'm sure it appears I'm venting, angry, and petty but that was $10.00 of pension money I'll never see again. WILL NEVER RETURN.

Pete's saved my daughter's graduation party!…read more I don't live in Chicago anymore. But most of my huge family still lives on the South Side. My daughter just graduated college, and we had the party planned for last Saturday. Long story short......my phone died while at the Cubs game on Friday. Woke up downtown on Saturday to a message that the place I had planned to cater from couldn't do it (nice....but that's for another review). I called Pete's. Becky in Customer Service couldn't have been more accommodating. This place is incredible - I really wish we had a Pete's in So Cal! Picked up all the food (even had fresh baked rolls right out of the oven). I had a lot of family asking where I catered from. I told them the story (and found out the place I was originally going to cater from has gone DOWNHILL in quality - so everything happens for a reason). All I can say is the food was INCREDIBLE. Mostaccioli with marinara sauce, sausage and peppers, Italian sliced beef, broasted chicken - amazing! I'm fairly certain Pete's has won my family's catering needs. At least I hope so!! Shout out again to Becky from Pete's in Customer Service who went out of her way to make this an incredible party!

Then she told me at first to order my glasses online bc they have to deal with the line first. So after I looked online and there's no specific spot to order my glasses, I approached her again and she rudely opened it. She seemed upset. Both cashiers were ignoring me on shift. I waited and was polite. After approaching her and she opened it, I showed her the ones I wanted and I asked her to hold them by the register. The most disappointing aspect was the service which was definitely not up to par. On both nights we were served by inexperienced young girls who probably were related someone at The Elks. They were scarce when they should have been checking in on our tables to see if we needed anything else . They never brought our dessert on our second night there but added them to the take orders we also bought. We gave them both generous tips regardless. The fish fry was good but I've had better elsewhere. The smoked corned beef on the next day was good but the portion size was like the equivalent of two (2) tablespoons of meat, quite inadequate at any price. The cost $20 per order and let me tell you one boiled potato, a small hunk of cabbage and some mini carrots sure don't bring up the cost. The place wasn't crowded on either night which doesn't surprise me from what I've witnessed here. There is much room for improvement here as hope remains that this Elks club may make adjustments and gain a greater reputation by word of mouth.
