My wife has fond memories of the soda fountain in St. Marys WV so we check them out anytime we see one. Griffith and Feil did not disappoint. The young staff were friendly and told us all about the history. We both had Monte Cristo Sandwiches which were prepared perfectly, very tasty. Service was quick. The only thing that would have made it perfect was if the young people working behind the counter had 1950's era starched white uniforms :-).

My boyfriend and I went into the Co-op Warehouse today and one of the owners "casually" brought up the protests/riots that are happening across the country and how ridiculous they were; in hindsight, it was clear she was testing us at this point to see how we would respond. Choosing to remain neutral, I said, "Yep, there's a lot going on..." and left it at that. As I walked around the shop, she continued on and proceeded to tell us her own thoughts on the presidency. Freedom of speech is a right, but when it became clear to her that we did not share the same beliefs, she amplified her opinions and made us very uncomfortable as she goaded us to debate. I respect everybody's right to their own beliefs (and in my personal line of work, I frequently interact with and help/support people with extremely different beliefs than me), but nobody goes into an antique shop looking for this kind of service or interaction. I was ready to make a large purchase, but decided against it as I feel my money is best spent elsewhere. I frequent the shops around this area, but I won't be going back to this one. (However, the one just to the left of it is excellent and run by a very kind man. Go here instead!)

This particular store caught my eye. It has pretty much a little bit of everything from home furnishings, clothing, cosmetics, toiletries, soap, detergent, home furnishings, outdoor items, furniture, snacks, bed stuff, luggage, etc. Basically anythint they want to sell through at a discounted or closeout price is available here. I've been able to score some snacks, drinks, luggage, toiletries, and other random items at the store. And a t a fraction of the regular cost. Highly recommend that you get on their mailing list and rewards program so that you can be in the know when it comes to some great deals. My boyfriend and I went to look around and buy a few things, he's never been to an Ollie's before…read moreand I gotta say it was probably not the best first impression. Everything was fine, though everything was extremely messy and cluttered. We were followed by an employee after we looped around the store to look at everything. It was quite persistent and discomforting to be followed (not so discreetly) by an employee, we had looped back towards the floor panels and rugs of the store as we're renovating a room in our home and wanted to see prices. This employee was on our behinds (to put it nicely) so we moved out of the way assuming he had to get to the backroom where there was a staff area. He had stood beside us for 2-3 minutes just watching us and then pretending to go through the floor panels. I understand staff must have precaution for customers stealing or causing issues as I've worked in retail for some years, but to be persistently behind customers and invading their space while they're just trying to shop and look around without any cause? Unacceptable. We will not be shopping at this Ollie's again. I will also be averting my friends and family from shopping here as well.
