I am writing this review to warn the community about the toxic management at this Dollar General. Save yourself the stress and shop somewhere else where you will actually be treated with basic human decency. A few months ago, while a customer was simply trying to shop for their family, the store manager completely escalated a situation out of nowhere, unprovoked and manufactured a massive crisis. She chose to call the police on an innocent customer, falsely claiming to law enforcement the customer was "refusing to leave" even though she had never once actually asked or ordered the customer to leave the premises. To make matters worse, she escalated the situation even further by breaking company protocol and following the customer all the way out to their vehicle in the parking lot as the customer was voluntarily leaving. She then used the interaction to fabricate a completely false story to the police, claiming the customer tried to fight her, which is an absolute lie caught on camera. The level of power-tripping, harassment, and complete lack of accountability from the management here is staggering. Instead of following standard retail procedures, this manager wasting resources used law enforcement as a personal tool to target a shopper do nothing but simply shopping peacefully. Avoid this store at all costs; you may just be discriminated against, targeted or worse!

Just now returned from the Rulers store 1703 N Belt W Belleville IL. The cashier - Milira -…read moreliterally threw my change at me. There was no question about it. She threw it down on the small space next to the credit card machine directly in front of me. What did I do? I irritated her because I turned my hand when she went to hand me the receipt. I wasn't snippy. I wasn't rude. I didn't have Attitude. I just moved my hand to indicate that I didn't want the receipt and put it back for the change. Instead of putting it in my hand she threw it. And, good ole Wayne, the Asst Manager. Did NOTHING. He was on the 2nd register. I took 3 steps toward him and asked if he was a manager. He said he was an Asst Mgr. I said the cashier just threw my change at me. He did nothing. Said nothing. Just continued to check out groceries. So, I asked him, "Are you going to do anything?" He finally responded with, "I'll talk to her." Well, I won't hold my breath! Since I was convinced I would not get satisfaction from the store I am at least posting a review to let other shoppers know what kind of customer service this place offers. The reason this infuriated me was because I stopped weekly shopping in this store 4-5 months ago. I have been in there for 1 or 2 items twice since then. The reason is an employee Dawn told me that "if I didn't like the store, there are other places that I could go." So I have been going to Aldi's. The manager, a very thin, very young dark haired man, was again on another register. Witnessed the incident and again did NOTHING. Trisha, another manager, asked me to write up the incident and send it to corporate and to her. After a few days I chose to move on to Aldi's. The incident with Dawn was disgusting in itself and now a few months later Milira throws the change. I don't have this issue in other retail establishments. What in the world kind of hiring practices do they employ? How are they even still in business?

After voicing our concerns, we decided she explained how they operated differently than the Ashley stores themselves. If you are looking for furntiture, give them a chance. They a privately owned small business. They also have more in their warehouse or can order some items online. They have been there 11 years which surprised me because I honestly had not heard of them.

I live minutes from the Chesterfield one but here we are. At first glance it's like if a 5 Below and a dollar store had a baby. I'd say the main sections are Health & Beauty, Cleaning Supplies, Candy & Snacks, Crafts, and Home Décor. There are other items sprinkled in like toys and pool floats! It's really a bizarre collection of items. The employees were friendly. I imagine they were there to stock the shelves because the store has self-checkout where you don't even interact with the employees. I found this enjoyable but I can't say I'd rush back unless I had some kids with me and wanted to buy them useless cheap stuff.
