Their car selection for "Executive" wasn't the best, but the vehicle I chose was roomy and reliable. The inside of the windshield could have been cleaned a LOT better, and upon returning the vehicle, I mentioned it to the gentlemen checking me out (wait, that sounds weird). He said he would knock some money off the rental, and I told him that's ok as it was on the company so I don't really benefit. He asked if there was anything else and I couldn't think of anything. It's good they offer and if I was on a personal trip, I would have benefitted. I love being able to just get in the car and go, so I'll stick with National over the other places.

I rented with Hertz for a while along my travels since 2008, so it was nice to be with them again…read moreon my travels to Grand Rapids, MI on a recent October 2016 trip here. Hertz always gives consistently great service each time I rent with them. Only problem For me is that I am not apart of the Hertz Gold club member, since I always go with Priceline to get the best deal for my car rental car, so that kind of says volumes about car rental prices around the industry including here at Hertz. $30/day or more for a standard rental car isn't my cup of tea when you are traveling on a budget, but I'm sure that there are those who think it's no big thing. That's why I'm not part of Hertz's Gold club. With that said, I arrived here in mid October and rented from Hertz for 4 days. I'm glad that the state of Michigan didn't have toll roads, but I asked for a toll pass anyway. The service here was nice, fast, and legit. Being that this was done at Grand Rapids, MI regional airport location of Hertz, it was easy to locate and very easy logistics to get the car and be on my way. The overall experience here at Grand Rapids, MI Hertz is as good as it can be. While I did have an incident on the roads during my rental experience, they took care of me and it was fine. I had worried about something an employee in Hertz Atlanta told me, but the employee at the Grand Rapids Hertz reassured me that I received the wrong information. So, I was happy that all's well that ended okay and it's getting taken care of. This Hertz car rental location is located at the Grand Rapids, MI regional airport. It was super easy to get to since the car rental complex is really next door to the terminal and you just walk out of the baggage claim area, follow the signage, and walk across the street. Many of the national car rental brands are here at this complex, so that was pretty good. Like many of the nation's car rental companies, they accept major credit cards for your purchase. On this trip in Grand Rapids (drove in Detroit), I purchased the LDW insurance as usual, not knowing what will happen on the roads. Most of the time, I drive fine and get to where I need to go, but this time around - while I didn't hit anyone, I damaged the rental car by driving over some dead animal carcass on the road at 5:00am in the morning while trying to fill the gas tank and returning the car for a 6am flight out of Grand Rapids, MI. I only noticed this since there was a weird sound that sounded like something was dragging on the road, as I was driving. Sure enough, the undercarriage of the car was torn and was dragging on the roadway. I was dismayed, but I knew I had purchased the LDW insurance at $24.99/day to prevent this kind of incident from occurring. It may be pricey for rental car insurance, but when stuff happens, you're glad you bought it, versus not having it. The car itself was nice. Drove great and had a USB charger for me to use while charging my iPhone while on the go and playing some Pokémon Go while out in the burbs in Detroit and in Grand Rapids. The car itself was clean and the trunk was spacious. Not sure what the car was, since I didn't take a photo of it. The car rental location was great and very convenient right inside the airport Perimeter, so no off site shuttle to get in and out of. The check in process was nice, but due to the early rental return, I put the completed car rental contract and keys into their lockbox on the car rental counter. I figured it would be safe and sound then. Shortly thereafter, I went through TSA and called GRR Hertz to see what I needed to do for the car. While i was through TSA, I thought I could just file a report in Atlanta, which I thought I did. Come to find out, that wasn't the case. The lady from GRR Hertz called me while in Atlanta and explained the situation to me. I'm glad that I took the LDW insurance, otherwise, i would have been liable for damage. She took down my information and what happened to the car. That was that and she put my mind at ease. Thank you Hertz! Stuff happens on these roads and I'm glad that the LDW insurance worked for me. While it is a revenue source for the company when nothing happens, it's good to have when something does! I do like Hertz for its professionalism and the high quality cars that they have. I have yet once have to report a problem with a car that didn't wasn't my fault (i.e. Low tire pressure) 4.0 stars for the service. 4.0 stars for the car. 4.5 stars for the quality and service provided. DO NOT EXPECT A CAR TO BE AVAILABLE IF YOU MAKE A RESERVATION AT THIS LOCATION!!!…read moreFlew in from California last Friday night and was told there was no car available after making a reservation two months prior (conformation # L6354466175). Something about my reservation didn't make it to the manifest??? The agent (I think her name was Jessica) was very rude and treated me like I was bothering her existence by just being there. It was a great experience being at the airport late in the evening with no car and no other option. Called Hertz corporate the next day and the representative and supervisor both told me to essentially stop bothering them and write an email if I was not satisfied with this wonderful experience.

Here's what they can expect: - "We are proud to feature a 100% smoke-free fleet!" is completely untrue. Most vehicles wreak of marijuana smoke or some other odor--be prepared to go back to the counter repeatedly until you can get a car or SUV that doesn't smell like skunk weed. - There is no interior cleaning in virtually all of the vehicles; windshield glass looks like someone licked it or wiped it with a greasy cloth. Receipts, wrappers, crumbs, etc. in cup holders and under the seats. - Don't be surprised if the "Oil Change Required" warning comes on shortly after departing the Avis parking lot. - Two numbers are available for the Avis Desk but neither of them will get you in contact with an agent at that location (616) 949-1720 and (616) 233-6330. - If you make a long-term rental reservation, you'll likely get a contract limited to only 30 days, regardless of what you reserved online. #2thumbsdown

All I had to do to check in was click the link in the text which allowed me to avoid the line at the rental center. I went straight to the garage. I was greeted by a young man who gave me a couple options for my rental. I chose the Hyundai Kona. It was a great little car was awesome gas mileage. It was in good shape and pretty clean and fairly new. I received a text reminder about my car coming due in a day. I returned my car early and no one was there. But there was signage that said I to drop the key (with rental paperwork denoting mileage- paperwork I did not have?!?) so I hope it's all good. The rental center is right across from the airport. An easy walk. Very convenient. Update: received my itemized bill via email at 4:15am! This was not long after I dropped it off. Those guys are here early! The bill is as expected. Thanks!

I had wanted to go over car condition or questions. The vehicle rented was alright, but certainly wouldn't have been my first choice and certainly not a car I would opt to purchase since it was uncomfortable and seemed to be in need of some minor maintenance. Upon return I had Samir as the attendant for check in. Pleasant enough but certainly not a very agreeable young man. I can't recall what I had said but he gave me a response that was opposite of what I expressed. I realize the customer is NOT always right, but my personal experience of renting IS mine and I did not appreciate him implying I was wrong. I remained polite, finished unloading and proceeded to the airport.

Fraudulent Budget CC Charge…read more Landlord used my CC to reserve a car. The reservations were canceled by their reservation desk, but we were assured by 2 counter reps on several days prior to the rental date that they would honor the $1606.03 charged to my credit card. When we arrived to pick up the car, the male counter rep and city manager were clueless and couldn't find the information we had been told earlier was in their system. The person who had promised to be there at the time was a no show until much later. I was quite angry at their incompetence and the lack of communications between the counter and their reservation desk, so I berated both of the earlier mentioned two individuals. Even worse, after the employee who showed up late explained the situation to the manager--she still refused to honor our confirmed rental, or, refund my $1,606.03. Anyway, I then explained that fraud and theft by deception were not only major felonies, but highly unethical. Not surprising, they acted like my accusations were nothing new.

Pre-COVID review…read more Wow, it seems like some people have had really bad experiences with Allegiant. Fortunately I haven't had any awful experiences so far with this budget airline (knock on wood). I've used Allegiant for their nonstop flights to Orlando Sanford and Fort Myers. I personally really like nonstop flights so I try to find them whenever possible. Allegiant is definitely a budget airline where you have to pay for everything, including your seat, carry on, checked luggage, and food and beverages on board. There are no fancy entertainment systems on these planes. I don't really mind that as I typically sleep on flights anyway. I am willing to pay for convenience, and the nonstop flights that Allegiant provides is that convenience. I usually only travel with a carry on so that helps cut down on costs a bit (but you still have to pay for that). Be sure to bring snacks and a bottle for water, as they don't even offer a complimentary cup of water on these flights. A small bottle is $3. On one of the Allegiant flights, my boyfriend and I purchased a cheese and charcuterie package for $6 which was actually very delicious and a great snack for our quick flight. I have more trips coming up with Allegiant (edit: well, I did until COVID happened!) and I intend to book more flights with them in the future.
