I didn't realize they we about to close bur hurried and they only had to stay open 2mins more but that guy was hostile by the time he had to check me out. I had run by one of the owners nephews and apologize and he said not to worry so I am not sure why the employee would be angry with me. He was literally red in the face. I don't ever even remember feeling that way in any store and I am from Los Angeles. So that says a lot. I apologized. It was last minute bc my son got sick all of a sudden but I won't be coming back for months until their next staff turnover hopefully. Hopefully, that person finds a job that he is more happy in.

Where do you go when in Sheridan and need just a few items to go into your Christmas eve fondue,…read morewhy the only market in town. This used to be an IGA market but in recent years has switched to the Sheridan Select Market. It has most of your every day needs and on this day it was vanilla, sweetened condensed milk, flour and butter. Well, what can I say we didn't read the recipe until that morning. Small town grocery with tiny aisles and a little of everything in there on this day was fairly brisk business going on. We walked up from the house, brought our own shopping bag (they weren't really impressed by that) it made me giggle to myself as I bagged by own groceries and the clerk just looked quizzical at me as if she had never seen a reusable bag before. All in all a handy stop. I'm sure all be back again.

There's limited parking however we lucked out with a space right in front. The interior is charming and clean. The deli off to the right side when you walk in, a small salad bar on the left. The rest of the market has lots of options you would expect from a market. We ordered a few sandwiches, I got one with tofu on wheat, SCW got an avocado and cream cheese on rye. Both came with a pickle and tortilla chips. I really enjoyed my sandwich. The bread was real bread and the toppings were fresh and delicious. The portion size was great as well. The market prices are ok, a bit high for some items but not terrible. The service was great. Would certainly return in the future.

This place reminded me of the small grocery store my family frequented when i was a child many years ago. Chester's is a great, slightly small, full service market with prices that are not sky high. The produce section was actually very well stocked, as were the meat and seafood areas. In short, my grand daughter and i found everything we needed and didn't have to leave town to do so. The store was clean, and well stocked and organized. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. It was very easy to find, and the large parking lot made it easy to get in and out of.

These were for our grand-daughter's wedding, which was being held in Newport. We called to ask if we could pick up our order earlier, and they confirmed it was ready. There was no Safeway in Newport. We were so disappointed when we arrived to find that they had gotten our order for one of the two trays wrong. We decided not to have them make us a new tray and just take the one that was correct. They were so apologetic and nice about it, how could we be upset? They were very kind and generous to give us a discount on the tray that we did take. So, we left happy. The sandwiches were a huge hit and were absolutely delicious. Everything turned out well in the end.

And you'll be very glad you stopped here when you see what some of those things cost closer to the beach. The gas station lines can get long, but they tend to move quickly, and the prices are usually great. Plus: BATHROOMS! Woo hoo! There were a ton of produce and fresh food options that I saw as well, even though we didn't purchase anything from those. I never caught the cashier's name, but she was a shorter, dark haired lady and was so so nice! She talked to me about my wine option and reassured my choice was a good one! I appreciate having an occasional glass of wine, and expect that it's difficult to find a quality wine selection in a small town that probably depends very heavily upon the tourist trade. Frankly, most towns known for heavy tourist traffic usually don't do well when it comes to what they stock in wines -- they usually aren't that impressive. I was truly shocked to see an excellent selection of highly-rated wines, especially for domestic Cabernet Sauvignon. If you enjoy having an excellent wine, this is the place to find it.
