BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR INDECISIVE PEOPLE. (Choc, Red Velvet, Caramel, Carrot).
    Janet M.

Edit/Update #2: They delivered the effing groceries at 9am on 12/16, with 5 minutes warning. WHEN WE WERENT HOME!! Omg I am so done. I mean we got them ( good thing I didnt send the Freddy's order off I guess), )but not handled great. Sigh. Edit/Update: One time not long ago, when our order was delayed I called the store and lovely Caitlin was super nice to me and helped me figure it all out. We got our groceries late but we still got them. So tonight 12/15/25 when I called at 7:20pm, our delivery was over an hour late, I was hoping for a similar experience. I think I spoke to 2 guys or one guy twice, but whoever it was (Nick?) proclaimed repeatedly that "Safeway does not deliver!!", he doesn't know who does it, and I would have to figure it out myself. He also very helpfully told me he shops for his own groceries and takes them home himself. Ok buddy. Well, I have cancer and cannot do that right now. So I contacted a live chat person and he said he called the store, they no longer deliver, and he cancelled our order. I hope that dude enjoys putting back our 45 grocery items. (They just delivered to me through the app via whatever partner a week ago, but oh well!) Guess we will figure out Freddy's out of Newport or Grocery Outlet. Sad. Deleting 2 stars. ************************************* We have been living here in LC about a year and have done the bulk of our grocery shopping through the Safeway app with delivery, because I started chemo four days after our move and am still going through it. Going shopping is too peopley/germy for me. It is cheaper to obtain groceries through the Safeway app with a membership than it is through Instacart or Door Dash. It is still not cheaper like Winco, Walmart, or Grocery Outlet and they sometimes do not have things in the store at all, or are out of stock, or they will cancel your order completely if they are understaffed or too busy to pull your order or don't have a driver. They will cancel abruptly. That one's frustrating because the app doesn't hold onto your list, I don't think. If it does I haven't figured it out. Mostly the overall experience is ok. Order a day ahead of when you want stuff, use your membership, click the coupons ( this does not always work, you have been warned) and don't expect a lot of help from the chat support - they promise to reimburse ( like for the 4 way way expired yogurts they gave me, or the .50 off all produce items they didn't give me, or they asked me to screenshot all the items that were not discounted one at a time," no Im not doing that Colorado Daniel, I will just sacrifice my $25"). But one time our groceries were 3 hours late and a manager sent us a small much appreciated surprise gift card to ease the pain which was nice). Overall the choices in town are somewhat limited. I miss the easy Freddy's, Trader Joe's, Uwajimaya, Costco, and New Season's access that I had in Portland. I miss trendy, special seen on Instagram foods. I am annoyed that some things are not at all accessible here. But overall Safeway is ok. 3.5.

Stopped by for some groceries while staying in town. They have everything you could need. The selection of fresh food was on point and all the staff we talked to was very friendly. We would definitely be back.

Wendy's frosty brand cereal. Never seen this before.

We are staying at a beach house just down the road from this Safeway and we came here to pick up a few days worth of items. We do not have a Safeway back at home so this was my first time stepping foot into one. Although I do believe it's related to Albertsons. Nothing really special here to be honest. It's just your average grocery store with all the basic necessities, such as a deli, produce section, and others. Plus they have a Starbucks inside. I saw a lot of stuff here that we don't have back at home in Nevada. For example, I came across a Wendy's chocolate frosty brand cereal. That was interesting to see. When we were using self checkout, the screen on it got stuck because I guess my boyfriend was pressing the 'stop bagging' button too many times after scanning out items. The guy monitoring self checkout was helpful in correcting the problem and we were sent on our way. Parking wasn't too bad either. Easy access to and from Highway 101. I wouldn't mind coming back here again.

Sad experience. I'm handicapped. I passed at least 15 employees not one greeting. Only 3 made eye contact.

Needs another grocery store to compete. Their prices are outrageesly high. Sale items have left shelves empty. The selection poor

Always has so many more choices than the other grocery stores around the area, and the staff is very nice.

The Sea Gulp - Italian sandwich

Thus, I've become pretty knowledgeable about the takeout options in the area, and there are several good ones, but my go to is a sandwich from Sea Gulp. On my first visit we arrived to find several other couples waiting on orders (it's clear this is where the locals go). It took some time to locate the order sheets as they are in a bin on a little table to the right as you walk in the front door, but it was empty. They utilize reusable sheets so had to clean some to get them ready for the next customers, just ask the cashier if you don't spot any. Anyways, once we placed our order it probably took 20 or so minutes for the sandwiches. Not too bad, but we were rarin' to get out to the beach, so it felt long! We did use the time to wander the store for other goodies and there is a lot to discover. Of course, they have the usual (and unusual!) snacks and drinks, but there are also games and souvenirs, and all sorts of supplies you might have forgotten you'd need for your beach day like towels, SPF, and toys. The employees were (and always are) very nice and once we got our sandwiches we headed right across the street (so convenient!) to D River parking and found a piece of driftwood on which to eat our dinner. I am not a particular lover of sandwiches, but theirs are darn good! My favorite is the Italian Sub with almost all the veggies, but I have tried the pastrami and turkey as well and liked them too. They've got a great variety of bread options and do breakfast sammies and burritos too. Now we just call and order about 15 minutes before we arrive and the timing works perfectly. For about $10 you get a fresh, big (honestly, I usually can't finish them) meal that will keep you satisfied and fueled for your sandy adventures. As they are so customizable it is a great way to get something everyone will be happy with. And since they are located in a convenience store you can pick up drinks, dessert, and or anything you might have forgotten. There is seating out front if you'd rather eat there. Oh, and they do have specials so make sure to check those out too.
