Sometimes a store doesn't need to change your life…read more Sometimes you just need a bathroom, a drink, a snack, and the ability to get back on the road without creating a major expedition. That's exactly where The Village Market IGA came through. We stumbled upon it while traveling and found ourselves in one of those situations every road trip eventually creates: the snack supply was running low, thirst levels were rising, and a restroom stop had become a strategic necessity. The Village Market IGA delivered on all fronts. The place occupies a unique category that I can't quite define. It's either an exceptionally well-stocked convenience store or a small grocery store that accidentally became convenient. Either way, it works. The selection was surprisingly good, making it easy to grab some road snacks and a Snapple before continuing our adventure. The aisles were well stocked, and unlike some roadside stores where your choices are limited to three flavors of regret and an energy drink you've never heard of, there was actually some variety. The bathrooms were relatively clean, which on a road trip is often the difference between a pleasant stop and a story you tell for all the wrong reasons. The staff was friendly, efficient, and moved people through quickly. No drama. No delays. No waiting behind someone trying to decide which lottery tickets would finally change their life. Just a smooth stop and back on the road. Was it life-changing? No. Did I discover the meaning of existence between the Snapple cooler and the potato chips? Also no. But it was clean, convenient, well stocked, and staffed by nice people. And honestly, that's exactly what I wanted. Four stars. Because sometimes competence deserves recognition, and because I left with everything I came for--which is more than I can say for some stores charging twice as much.

Dennis welcomed my wife and I as soon as we walked in the door and after I explained my situation and target types of waters he took me straight to the perfect affordable setup. He expertly answered my questions and refrained from trying to upsell me to the readily available much more expensive options. Once we'd made our choices he left us to wander the store browsing. In the end I walked out with a nice rod and reel combo, a few extra leads and tippets and a big smile on my face. If you a tired of the big stores where they treat you more like money bags than fellow anglers, check out Little River Outfitters. It's well worth the drive and the personal and very knowledgeable service.

This seems like the kind of store that every time you visit you may find a totally different section. The quilt room was pretty impressive as well. This shop is a tad cluttered and overwhelming but if you have the time and patience to weave through the tight spaces, you will absolutely find something fun and fabulous. There seemed to be sections of body/beauty, hats and clothing, a flag and decor area, an area with canned/bottled goodies and dip mixes, nostalgic candy, a counter with fudges, hand pies, ice cream, and candied nuts, a section with books and toys and many (MANY!) gift ideas and Smoky Mountain souvenirs. We also loved that the local Dancing Bean Coffee sells beans in bulk here. We have been using the Turtle flavor daily the last few days and love how smooth and subtle the flavor is, not overpoweringly sweet like many flavored coffees. The service was amazing-patient, prompt, and friendly. The candied pecans are the best I've ever had. They have been wonderful on salads and on a charcuterie board since I brought them home. The pricing wasn't extremely high either! For the fudge, ice cream, book, coffee, candy, popcorn seasoning, and nuts we purchased, I think we spend around $30. Not too shabby!

I saw that there was a Publix in Pigeon Forge and knew that's where we'd need to go to get our picnic supplies! Because we had flown in (and didn't have picnic basket on our pack list), I knew that we needed to get a small cooler to keep our drinks and sandwiches cool on the warm spring day. Fortunately, Publix had a nice variety of small lunch box size coolers and we found one for a reasonable price that was perfect for what we needed and would collapse down for easy packing to bring it home. We then made our way to the deli and got fresh, deli made sandwiches made with boar's head meats and cheeses. They're fully customizable and we very much enjoyed them! We were also able to grab some fruit, pretzel crisps, boar's head hummus, and bottled beverages to round out our picnic. Everything was great, prices were reasonable, and we enjoyed a beautiful picnic in this beautiful area. One note would be that the deli does get busy. We were there in the ease of spring (ie: no big National Park crowds) and we still had to wait in a bit of a line for our deli sandwiches. So, just something to factor into scheduling. That said, we didn't mind a bit and the sandwiches were worth the wait. Get to it!

I went on the recommendation of some family that was also vacationing in the area and was definitely pleased with how well kept it was, and how even with a crowd everything was clean and neat. We had some of their baked goods, which were fantastic as well. Will definitely go again when I'm up in this area!
