I went to Walmart on Saturday because I was in the area. My experience was terrible. I had made a…read morepurchase but the barcode was wet, so the cashier response was the barcode is wet and then proceeded to find someone to help her, but returned with such a nasty attitude. "I can't sell you this product until someone print another, so I ask if she could use the other package to get the bar code and her reply was NO, it sells by the pound and yes it more than likely is but, it was not based on the pound, it was simply the same product from the meat department and the price was the only thing that mattered was the price which was visible. What surprised me was her demeanor, the tone in her voice and when she slammed the package on the counter, and made the comment that the individual is at lunch then proceeded to scan my order and then had the nerve to add an addition charge to my order. I ended up in customer service line to get my refund, but did make her aware of the overcharge, and YES, I did make her aware of the mistake, and what did she do? LAUGH! In the future I will spend my money elsewhere.

Ehhhh it's Walmart....so my expectations aren't too high. This location carries food (bakery,…read morealcohol and food item dry, frozen and refrigerated), lawn and garden section, clothing, photo, and I believe that is it. The main reason for the three stars, is simply the service. Man it's really hard finding helping and when you do they are chatting or just aren't very enthusiastic to actually help. In the food section it's a hit or miss if you will find everything you need. When in this section when asking for help...you may just want to take time and do it yourself. My grandmother needed a particular sauce that she has purchased there several times and where it usually is...it wasn't this time. We asked and all they kept saying is it's sold out even though the location sticker was gone and it appeared they rearranged things. Since it's my grandmother you know I will not let her down so I started looking and found it was moved two aisles down. Hmmm I don't work here but was willing to do the job, so I was hoping the employees would be as well since that is the job they are getting paid for. Either way, I have realized it can be frustrating at times of you are not aware this is how they operate. The cleanliness of the store is pretty decent. Haven't really had a bad experience. I haven't been to their restroom in years so not sure how that is. All in all this is one of your few options to get groceries so visiting is something you can't truly avoid. They do have food Lion as an option. Just keeps a heads up knowing you may have to woo saaa at times!

Food Lion - Would you buy this? Most of their produce is in, or close to, this state these days. It's a real shame

It pains me to write this review, but it's been months and nothing has changed. It's clear now…read morenothing will, so I'm warning others to steer clear of the produce department. This store used to be my favorite place to grocery shop, hands down. It's well lit, the floor plan makes sense, the restrooms are usually clean, and the building is in an easily accessible location. The parking lot is large, and they regularly collect the buggies so you don't have to worry about one escaping and bumping your car. Almost every employee there has been great in my experience and will help you find what you need, greet you, or shoot you a smile as you walk past. Most of the store is clean and well run, and they do a good job of keeping items stocked and rotated. They offer weekly MVP sales, manager sales , and coupons that have really made a difference in our budget. It's been a pleasure to shop here. For years, every time I walked into the produce dept, happiness washed over me. I savored the order, freshness, and cleanliness. Displays looked neat, well-stocked, and inviting. The quality of their produce was always head and shoulders above every other grocery store I'd ever visited, including other Food Lion locations. I'd happily spend more money than necessary because I was excited to buy fresh, appealing food. Prices aren't great anywhere these days, but here, I felt what they were asking was more reasonable because I was confident I was purchasing quality food for my family that would last till I had time to cook. Those times are over, and it's heartbreaking. I realize how dramatic that sounds, but feeding my family well is crucial to me. For about 6 months, this is the kind of produce that has regularly been made available for purchase. The previous (excellent) produce manager decided to step down and was replaced by someone who thinks sprouting, mushy, and rotting food is acceptable to leave on the shelves for customers to pick through. Yesterday my hand sank into a withered mango on one of the end caps while trying to find one worth buying. Mangos are on sale this week, and if you hope to take advantage of the sale, you need to hunt through withered, semi-rotting baskets of fruit to try to find one that looks like it'll survive the drive home. If you manage to find it, you'd better use it that same day. I can't tell you how many times I've searched the bell peppers looking for one that isn't broken, crushed, slimy, or wrinkling with age, only to give up in frustration. Don't get me started on how disgusting the wet wall is! More often than not, I leave the store discouraged. When I go shopping, I pray I see a particular employee working because I know how meticulously she culls, cleans, and restocks produce. She can only do so much though, and she certainly can't fix a bad manager. Where is his boss? Where is corporate? Yesterday was the last straw. I showed a store manager the nasty pear I found and spoke to him about how disappointing it's been to shop there lately. He was empathetic and understanding and told me I'm not the first person who has voiced dissatisfaction. I told him I've been filling out the reviews on my receipts for corporate, and he said the store receives those reports too and emphasized again, they realize how unhappy customers are with the produce dept. This tells me Food Lion prioritizes their current produce manager's laziness and incompetence over customer loyalty and satisfaction. It's insulting that people are expected to spend their hard-earned money on what's essentially expensive compost. No thanks. I genuinely love this store and I appreciate the efforts of most of the people who work here. Retail is hard and thankless, and the employees who do their job well don't get nearly enough recognition. I'll probably keep coming here for essentials because my pharmacy is next door, but for everything else, I'd rather drive twice as far and pay twice as much at Publix. I sincerely hope something changes in the produce department soon, because this is disgraceful.

And the food is truly real. Don't worry about the price. For a comparable meal at McDonalds, Halls Supermarket will be less. And the drink selection is the best in town. The chicken salad is one of the best I've had - it's shredded chicken that dressed well, and perfect on a Martin's cocktail roll; if you're lucky, you'll find Tom's Hot Fries in the chip aisle, and this makes a great pairing! The staff here are kind and friendly, and the place is usually patronized by the locals. Usually during the summer months, they feature local businesses, which set up tents right outside.
