I had a very disappointing experience at this Dollar General in Pampa, Texas. My boyfriend and I are new to town and stopped in to look around. We were having a relaxed day and were dressed casually, which apparently was enough for one employee to decide we were suspicious. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were being watched. She repeatedly asked what we were looking for and followed us throughout the store. We had never been in a Dollar General this large before, so we spent time browsing, checking prices, and reading ingredient labels on food. We picked up items, looked at them, and put them back where we found them. That's called shopping, not buying. What makes this even more frustrating is that I always carry a small purse with me. When I first walked in, it may have looked empty because my phone and wallet were in my pockets. Later, I put them back into my purse and zipped it up, it very visibly wasn't full. My purse is small enough that it would have been obvious if I had stuffed merchandise into it. There was nothing in it except my personal belongings. The employee kept her distance while following us, so she clearly wasn't paying attention to the fact that we were putting items back. Instead, she seemed determined to assume the worst. When we finally decided to leave because of how uncomfortable and disrespected we felt, she stopped us, accused us of stealing, told us we were banned from the store, threatened us with arrest, and said we were lucky she hadn't called the police. News flash: if the police had been called, there would have been nothing to find because we did not steal anything. We were simply browsing. Customers are allowed to enter a public store, look around, compare prices, read labels, and leave without buying anything. That is not a crime. Being falsely accused, embarrassed, and treated like criminals based on assumptions about our appearance was unacceptable. If this employee is reading this, you owe people more respect than that. Your assumptions cost this store customers, and you should think twice before accusing people of theft without evidence. You need a reality check! I hope management reviews this situation seriously, because no customer should be profiled, falsely accused, or banned without cause. 0/10 read more

I stopped in for dinner twice and also picked up hotel room snacks and lunches for the week. Everyone I interacted with was pleasant and helpful. The produce section is clean and bright. The grocery aisles were well stocked with a tremendous variety and the prices were clearly marked. Deli had everything I needed and more. Checkout was easy and efficient. Parking lot was clean and since they have associates helping bring stuff out to cars, they did not have a cart problem in the parking lot since the associates are getting them while they're outside.
