The meat department has excellent cuts of steaks at great prices. Huge selection of wine. Many of the stores carry liquor, this one does not. But I have been to the ones that do carry alcohol and they do carry everything. It is unbelievable inexpensive too. The customer service is great. Erik at the customer service area was very helpful and attentive. Since we are coming to South Bend so much we got the Martins advantage card. They have a great app also that gives you all the specials and advantages. Since I have retired , I have done most of the shopping and know the pricing of items we usually buy. Martins is low low low compared to the other stores. If you have never been to a Martins , give it a try. Oh yes, they have a robot that goes up and down the isles, scanning on quantity and directly sends the information to the office for re stocking( see pic ).

I am74 and have shopped at Martin's for many years. I will now shop somewhere else.

What in the world happened to this place?…read more Pre-pandemic, there was an inventive, delicious hot bar with numerous choices. Now it's like a college cafeteria...basic and tired, with hardly any plant-based options. The salad bar has nothing but the basics. The cut fruit is shameful--all underripe (easier to sell, for some reason. Produce section as a whole is extremely underwhelming...Martin's has more options. The current lack of a seating area indoors is a big minus. This used to be a favorite meeting spot for me and school colleagues. Now you just take it home or scarf it down in the parking lot. Sad! It's hard to think of a reason to come here anymore, aside from maybe a few specialty organic items...and even here, Target carries more.

While I was browsing one of the gluten-free sections, a staff member noticed, let me know there were even more options, and personally showed me where everything else was located. I highly recommend checking this place out!

She said she entered it, but I got nothing. I didn't buy any sale items or alcohol. She closed out my order and told me to go to the front desk. Went to the front desk and I was 5th in line out of 7. I waited & waited & waited. 3 people just gave up and left. After waiting 15 min I gave up too. I spent almost 30 min just being in line for 9 items. Ever since Spartan took over, customer service had really gone down hill. Look at the employees. Used to see people that have been there 20+ years. Now there's new faces every week. Bakery isn't nearly as good as it used to be. Had a cake so bad I just took it back. Deli items that are made in house are just awful. Chicken salad was so bad I threw it away. Same with cole slaw. And of course the obvious, prices are just unnecessarily high. When your sale prices are higher than other stores regular prices, there's something wrong. And when they say you're paying for better customer service, it's just nonexistent. I will spend my money elsewhere.

The fish and chips came out hot and took about 10mins. I like that they leave the end flaps open to avoid the crispy fish from steaming in the box.
