Most garbage, Dollar General store in all of the nation. At least all 42 states that I've been to…read more They hire employees that have no teeth clearly from years of meth and crack use, looking 60 years old, but clearly that's just from the drugs, and then she has the gaul to call me ma'am over and over again when I look 10 years younger than I am according to everybody else, my whole life. And then she won't call the woman in front or behind me mam, when she's clearly 65 years old, or just clearly looks older than me. It's a shame, but women are some of the biggest misogynists and they show their ugly selves most often in customer service. As a woman who's been told how incredibly beautiful I am my whole life, I see it most now. Infantile, disrespectful, envious sad souls that make themselves feel better about the fact that they could never be as beautiful as I am in 1 million lifetimes, by trying to tear me down as a customer at the register. It's pathetic and they can all take all their negative energy and absorb it right back into their own bodies and disrespectful minds, hearts and souls. Women like me know that you stay beautiful from a clear conscience, and that doesn't come from tearing other women down as a clerk in the store, whenever you feel mad and jealous. On top of the horribly misogynist disrespectful employees, they have two registers that are meant to be run by a clerk, and only one is ever open. They have one self check out that is never open as well. I've waited in that store for up to 40 minutes in line before because of this. They've stopped carrying all their decent products, it is just full of unhealthy junk, processed frozen, canned or boxed food. If you go in at a slow time, most often when you go to the register, nobody's there and you either have to wait or try to go find the person. They constantly close down on days they're supposed to be open, which is a direct violation of consumer law. It is a garbage shopping experience every time you go in that store except for 2 employees

Although I looked over the dresser, opened the drawers, etc., I did not move all the lamps and many assorted knick knacks. I then paid for the dresser and made arrangements to pick it up the following day. When I returned to pick it up, there was a VERY LARGE split in the wood, ALL the way across the entire top of the dresser and way too wide to repair by any method. This major damage had been covered by the runner, the lamps and the knick knacks. So . . . Usually, normally, sellers will be transparent about damage, flaws, chips, cracks etc., and then it's up to the buyer to move forward with the purchase or not. Because the damage was so extensive, I did not think the dresser could be transported without breaking completely in two. Because the damage was hidden/concealed, I felt deceived. I pointed this out to the staff, who launched into their "no refunds" spiel before I could even finish my sentence. I was rather abruptly offered to the "opportunity" to leave the dresser (and my $400) behind if I no longer wanted it. Still, I extend Kudos to Twice Is Nice for serving seniors in need!! Thank you to the volunteers who offer their time. Thank you to the folks who donate. If an item is damaged, you don't have to attach flashing lights or a neon sign, but it's not "nice" to cover it up, then pile it high with multiple heavy items making the damage almost impossible to detect until too late to make an informed purchase decision.

If you're driving along TN Hwy and feeling parched because you…read moredropped / spilled / forgot your cup of ice, learned (painfully) the metal water bottle is hotter than the pavement outside, the a/c is not working well, the car spews waves of heat into the air as it gasps on the last drops of gas fumes in the tank, and now you're hallucinating palm trees, coconuts and umbrella drinks on every broken stripe on the highway, take heart. Around the next bend is Shady's. Shady's is a standard convenience store/gas station. It's a little drab on the inside, but the people who work here are pretty awesome and that brightens it up. The a/c functions (I think), the beverage coolers are well stocked with every type of liquid refreshment, there are plenty of snacks, the gas pumps work, and the stray cats outside begging for food are really good at it. The day I stopped in, Shady's air conditioning wasn't working and the employee was sitting outside in the shade; but compared with the inside of my car, I could have been at the north pole. The cold water numbed my frustration, but then so did the friendly employee who apologized for the lack of air conditioning and then spent time commiserating. I don't know though, she only might have been pretending empathy once I started talking about the umbrella drinks in the middle of the highway.

It's small inside, but jam-packed with a hundred unique musical novelties. Jewelry shaped like instruments, umbrellas with notes on them, bowties with piano keys, wine bottle holders made from actual piano keys, a small selection of vinyl records, books...one on how to tune a piano, CDs, etc... I can't remember it all, and it was quite overwhelming. I do know they didn't have a welcome mat, which is what I really wanted. I was told they'd hopefully have one by the holidays. So I'll be returning...also because it's where I travel for work. But if you're in Staunton, this shop is not to be missed. It's like a musical etsy conglomerate. Respect it.

It is a wonderful surprise that they are located in Staunton and not a large metropolitan area!

This is a long overdue review. We've moved a lot - even across the country, but this was one of the…read moreworst moves even though it was local. This was a big move with valuable furniture and art. The loading went OK since we had already packed everything except for the furniture and art. All the boxes we packed were labeled by room and contents. The damage was discovered after the move. If the Forman chosen for the job is not good your move will be expensive, difficult and there will be damage. The guys they sent worked hard but not smart because the Forman was inexperienced. He did not focus on priorities that would make the move smoother, He was in CYA mode the entire time. He pointed out minor flaws in a few pieces of furniture that we already knew about and acknowledged. The irony of all this CYA is that these movers or rather their forman deliberately hid damage that they caused. * They damaged the wall in the stairwell of the destination we moved into by gouging the drywall and chipping the paint. And said nothing. * They chipped the glass of an expensive dining room table top. And said nothing. * They spilled Gatorade on the carpet in one of the bedrooms, covered it up with boxes. And said Nothing. * At the destination they dropped boxes that were clearly marked by room just about anywhere and everywhere. We found boxes marked "Kitchen pots and Pans" in the garage. * They left Art sitting in the hot sun * We had specifically asked that the beds be unloaded and set up in the bedrooms as one of the first things upon arriving at the destination, to determine what other furniture would fit. This was repeatedly ignored. Instead they dragged their feet but kept asking where certain pieces of furniture were to go. The move ended up being much more expensive by 30%. Take this is a caution. Maybe if you're a student and you have inexpensive stuff - things like this will not bother you. But if you have things you care about. Maybe you can hire a company that can do better. Working with them was frustrating and in the end very expensive.
