I drove across town for my mom to go to this store. I spent my time selecting everything she wanted (she's recovering from surgery). They were out of bags..apparently very common issue there. The cashier, JENNY, either stashed all my small items in her kangaroo pouch or there's a counter end with all my shit on it. Not good

I entered the store with a bag of items I needed to return, with a store receipt from the day before. I grabbed a jug of laundry soap and proceeded to the line. I told the associate that I had a return with receipt for the items in the bag. She told me that I violated the Dollar Tree return policy by walking through the store with a bag. I explained that I was unaware of that policy and she told me "it's obvious that you can't walk into a store with a return without announcing it." I've read the Dollar Tree return policy and it does not mention anything about making announcements. Then she proceed to tell me that I could not leave the store with the items that I had previously purchased. I said absolutely not and told her she should check the security camera or whatever she needed to do but she was not taking my items. Then she said she had to wait for the line to clear out. I asked her if she could turn off the light so the line would stop forming. She said no, because then the other associate would be backed up. So what? I'm just supposed to wait until zero customers are there? Then, she told the only other associate working a register to go on break. I didn't have all day so I just grabbed my bag and left and will deal with it another day at another Dollar Tree.

Honestly, who doesn't like Midget Foods?…read more When you run a corner store in a saturated market there is very little to set you apart from your competition. You basically have your name and your location. I used to have three corner stores (BODEGAS) equidistant from my house. There was S&M Foods, Clarke Foods, and the Midget Market. After disqualifying Clarke Foods for their utter lack of originality, that left S&M and The Midget Market as the top competitors. With the closure of S&M, Midget Market was the undisputed champion of Riverwest bodegas. I know some of you *cough*Rachel*cough* like Sunrise Foods for their booze selection and convenience to your location, but really, isn't it worth a few extra blocks to shop at a store named after a race of itsy-bitsy tiny people? Where is your sense of adventure? That said, Midget Market has a pretty good selection. I don't buy much from there except XXX Flamin' Hots for the girl, RipIt energy drinks for me, the occcasional six-pack of beer and emergency cat food supplies, but they seem to have a pretty good selection. The service is great. It's a bit impersonal that all your business is conveyed through bullet-proof glass, but the two owners and even their daughter on occasion have never been anything but polite and friendly to me. Honestly, since its re-opening I probably prefer Clarke Foods to this place but I still go there a few times a week and heartily recommend it to anyone who craves junk food, low prices, and stores named after wee-folk.

I absolutely love Midget Foods, for multiple reasons:…read more 1. The beer selection is great. It seems like I find something new every time I go. It also doesn't hurt that they have quite the selection of Ale Asylum. You cant go wrong there. 2. Even standing behind an awkward glass window, the employees are always very friendly. 3. Its just a few short blocks from my house. I love living in Riverwest.

The street (metered) parking was easy to find when we arrived. Architecture of the ex-Mall was still lovely to see and there was a tour group there talking about the history of the location. We started in the beauty section and I immediately found clearance hair clips/claws that were cute and a great deal. My friends were having a great time looking for items and when one of them decided to try some things on I decided to look a bit harder and found two pairs of jeans- that is not something that normally happens! Not only did the jeans fit great but they were $20 and $24 which in my mind is a great price especially considering they'd be $70-100 regularly. We also browsed the shoes and I happened to find the perfect pair for a wedding I had coming up, so of course I grabbed them. On top of the other finds I also found a small toy for my dog. I ended up with two sets of hair claws/clips, two pairs of jeans, a pair of heels and a dog toy for under $100. While we only interacted with the staff at the register they were also nice and my friends and I all ended up finding a few items here.
