I will say that their selection is not as big as some of the other stores that i've seen, but they still have some great deals. This visit, we got a pan to cook with, a phone charging card, some protein powder and even some beauty products. If you're looking to find some great deals, I would definitely recommend to take a walk around and see what you can find.

Service is decent, selection is quite varied in particular in bedding and dry goods. As someone else pointed out, you can get great discounts on food products but be sure to check the expiration dates on some of them! YMMV but for my dollar this is a discount chain worth visiting.

It was fun, but absolutely exhausting because of the heat, humidity, and lifting the baby so he could see stuff. The next day, we wanted an easier adventure. We decided to go and explore Ollie's. Neither of us had ever been there. The baby is easily entertained by sitting in a grocery cart and being pushed around new places. It was the perfect venue for him and a great chance for us to see what the store was all about. The first thing that got my attention was a huge book department. They had a lot of great books at super discounted prices. For example, hardcover Michael Connolly novels were only about $9.00. They had several children's books for around $5.00 a piece, some of which we had recently bought on Amazon for as much as $20.00. They seem to have just about everything in the store. Most of the prices I saw were really fantastic. We were really just looking and only bought a few books for the baby, but I can see us filling a cart with awesome bargain finds. One thing that surprised me was how neat and tidy this store was. Similar businesses in San Antonio usually look like an earthquake happened. Wow! I just discovered that we have an Ollie's right next to Ingram Mall in San Antonio. I can't wait to get there without having to keep my cart in motion for the grandson. I have bought a fleece jacket with the hoodie ( very warm) a growler and a human bed ( likes like a big dog bed)so that my dog and I can hang out while I watch TV during the holidays. At Christmas they had quite a selection of inflatables and very reasonable at $19.99. They have a whole array of goods to include rugs ,Automotive ,and pet aisle .. the place looks a little bit disorganized, but this may be the fault of the customers moving things and dropping things off that isn't the proper area . sometimes it's hard to find the products that were advertised in the flyer because they have sold out .so if you're gonna go to Ollie's go as soon as the flyer comes out.

There isn't much staff, and the staff that is there is rude or constantly distracted in their own interests. There is not much product on the shelves, and when I go to get something it's never there and I have to find an alternative or go somewhere else. There are always carts on the floor holding boxes of products that need to be put out. The last time I visited, there was stuff all over the floors. Shelves empty. I asked the manager to help me find something, and it was like it was making her go out of her way. She was shopping for snacks for herself. Also she was not in uniform and wearing some woman's cut black shirt with designs all over the front. I have been in this store with my 2 year old daughter before and employees were jokingly cursing back and forth to one another in front of all customers. I am not complaining due to one instant, this store has been this way for at minimum a year.

It's way more "manageable" than bigger H-E-Bs, & while they might not have the obscure organics or artisanal offerings of a Central Market or other H-E-B's, this store is a hidden gem. The shelves are always stocked, the aisles are always clear, & the associates are always happy & quick to help. I pretty much know where everything is, but the few times I've wandered aimlessly looking for something, fellow shoppers -- mostly older & wiser -- have helped me find whatever it is I'm hunting down. I've always preferred small grocery stores to large ones, & I really have a soft spot for this one. Maybe because I grew up in the area, or maybe I just like how leisurely a shopping trip here is; I enjoy my time spent here, & I think it's a nice change of pace from the Walmarts & Targets of the world. A pro-tip: the H-E-B app is a great help for a store as condensed as this one (& any H-E-B in general). It tells you aisle by aisle if they have something you want in stock, so you can save time, gas, & energy if you need something in a pinch.
