I Was a regular shopper at the HEB in Bastrop. Then I moved to Georgetown and was a regular shopper at the 3 HEBs in Georgetown! While staying in Lockhart, this weekend for a family wedding, I went to the local HEB. It wasn't the HEB, I'm use to shopping at. It was much smaller and older. That part wasn't a big deal, because Lockhart has a smaller population and that store has been in the same location for a long time. I went in to grab some flowers to bring to a local friend of mine, that invited TV (The Villain, my husband Ray) over for a BBQ. I was also going to grab strawberry shortcake fixin's. I went to pick out flowers and half of the selection was wilted. There was a young lady vacuuming the floral section, that clearly saw me waiting to peruse the rest of the flowers. She took her sweet a$$ time vacuuming. I patiently waited. When she was finished, she shot me a snotty irritated look. I'm not sure if she was mad that she had to vacuum or that I patiently waited. This is NOT the customer service I'm use to receiving from HEB! That was the first time I saw an HEB employee unhappy to be working at HEB! I was as confused as a fart in a fan factory! (Personally I've always dreamed of working at an HEB, if Ray aka TV (The Villain) divorces me. I would move myself right back to Texas and work at an HEB) The good news is, this HEB carry's a lot of my favorite HEB products! They carry my Cobb Salad, that I use to eat at least 3 times a week! Their tortilla chips with Sea Salt! Their Ice Cream is to die for!!! Their coffee! I could write a novel about HEB products, but I don't have time. Bottom line; HEB has great prices and products! I came in here to get stocked up for a camping trip, and found all the goods I needed! I was surprised to see the size of their beer selection here. There wasn't much to it. They had the national brands and a very small selection of local beers. Shiner is a local beer here! The clerk seemed befuddled by the bar codes and it took an incredibly long time to get checked out. A manager was called over to help press the buttons repeatedly to get an item to ring up. It made me regret getting the meat from the butcher if it was going to take so long to get properly rang up. I did manage to get everything that I needed. They even have a small clearance section in the rear corner of the store. I found some pretty great stuff in there. Parking was easy.

I come all the way to Gonzales to shop because Lockhart H-E-B is way too crowded, And I have to say that the only person who was friendly today was the lady in the floral department who always , always offers to say hi even if I'm not buying flowers!! This may be the last Buc-ee's we visit as our road trip is nearing its end. It's supposed to be…read morethe largest one but one of the other ones we visited seemed the same size for both the pumps and store. This time instead of exploring their packaged snack products I thought about how much room we have left in our car and flying it home so I decided against it. I did buy 3 of their small cup size Blue Bell dark chocolate ice cream- for all of us but the cashier gave only one spoon. It tasted so good I had hubs go get me a large size one since I didn't eat a normal lunch and it was past 5 pm. While I waited in the car with the grandpup. I wanted to find some Bucee items for Doc since she's been our road trip driver plus made all the arrangements for hotels, tickets to parks, dinner show, etc. We all got different things: hubs got small bags of jerky, Doc got her favorite brisket sandwich to share with her Frenchie, a sausage on a stick and 3 peach cobblers for each of us to try. I like the large amount of clean restroom stalls plus soap. The cone of warmed sugary pecans and cinnamon bites were a sweet snack- finally gone from the first Buc-ee's a week ago. Before leaving Doc had us take a selfie and a nice gentleman also took a couple for us too.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but... my last visit here was less than satisfactory. We grabbed lunch on our way to Houston. Our lunch consisted of brisket sandwich, chicken tenders & fries, and the three meat sandwich. I'm pretty sure their meat is not a true cut of brisket. Its consistency is like mush, and not like muscle fibers. There was nothing lean brisket vs fatty brisket. The brisket had holes throughout, making it look even more like an ultra processed deli meat or even lab grown. I was disgusted, to say the least. They also have ZERO options for people conscious of the ingredient lists. We bought popcorn and the bag was open at the bottom. I opted the top and it was super stale. I realized it was open on the bottom and the store game me a hard time about exchanging it. It's pretty clear the sealing process failed for this bag. We won't be shopping here anymore, nor will we eat their food. But if you're visiting Texas and come across one, it's a fun stop to pass time.

I found some produce products that were more of a bargain than at the larger supermarket down the street. As I noticed other people gathering around the hot food line, I couldn't help but decide on getting a plate. Both of the meats I decided on were extremely delicious in flavor and the beef was exceptionally tender. I got red and green salsa and it appears that the red salsa is a tad bit creamy, which is not something I've had many times before. It was unique and extremely tasty. As for the green salsa, I have yet to try, but I am sure it won't disappoint. I do want to give this place praise because I have passed it up before, but it is not a place to be looked over. There's so many other goodies in here that you won't find at a regular grocery store so it's definitely worth coming inside and checking out especially if you just want something to do. Central Market is the place to go for specialty items from meats and cheese to baked goods…read more They've got an incredible selection of everyday organic foods. Helpful staff and a great cafe' area. They also offer cooking classes which I always say I am going to sign up for and never do. Definitely on the higher end of the scale for specialty items vs regular grocers like the sister store HEB. It's part of my monthly shopping trip for specific items, much like I do monthly at Trader Joe's.
